- He came out of retirement, after 16 years, to play the part of Bushnell Mullins on Twin Peaks (2017).

Murray was assigned to alternative service in Europe, where he helped orphans and war casualties.. He was invited to the White House by President Eisenhower to discuss his service as the administration considered the possibility of a Peace Corps (not realized until the Kennedy administration), though had to decline his participation due to his live-TV commitments.
