Ever since the Marvel Cinematic Universe concluded the Thanos chapter with Avengers: Endgame, the franchise has witnessed significant changes. From then on, not every project garnered acclaim from the public, leading many to get disappointed with what they were being served. The Marvels is an example that was a great disaster at the box office, leaving many to wonder about its future.

Marvel Studios has numerous projects in development, and ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is a particularly anticipated soft reboot, bringing back familiar faces from the original show. Despite the excitement surrounding ‘Born Again,’ the show faced challenges, including the impact of the historic SAG-AFTRA strike, leading to creative differences between the studio and the writers.
In late September 2023, Marvel Studios decided to revamp the first season after filming less than half of its episodes, replacing head writers Corman and Ord, along with the initial directors, to realign with the tone of the Netflix series. New showrunner Dario Scardapane, associated with Netflix’s Daredevil spin-off ‘The Punisher,’ was appointed, accompanied by directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead from Marvel Studios’ ‘Moon Knight’ and the second season of ‘Loki.’
The exact episode count for the overhauled season remains uncertain, but reports suggest that filming is set to resume in January to complete the remaining episodes.

Marvel Studios has plenty of projects currently in development or rumored to be in development. One of the most hyped-up projects, however, is ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ a soft reboot of an existing show with plenty of old and beloved faces returning to the screens.
Despite ‘Born Again’ being highly awaited, the development of the show was not without problems. Like most projects, it was also affected by the historic SAG-AFTRA strike, and, at some point, the creative differences between what the studio wanted and what the writers delivered grew to be too big, and ‘Daredevil’ was once again in development.

“American Horror Story” took months to get to Roanoke in 2016, but series creator Ryan Murphy made this year’s journey a little clearer.
Murphy revealed on Thursday night at a Comic-Con stunt that the upcoming season of “American Horror Story” is subtitled “Cult.” The series’ seventh season will premiere on FX Tuesday, September 5. This confirmation follows months of speculation about how the events of last November would play out in his anthology horror series. Based on the video reveal from San Diego, this season may play out as a cross between a campaign rally and a ritual sacrifice.

Murphy first hinted at a possible election-themed season back in February, explaining that filming would commence in June. He later walked back his comments that the upcoming season might have a literal Trump figure as part of the story.

"Dateline Los Angeles: Stars of the night sky tend to keep to fixed orbits and never interfere with one another. Seems things sometimes operate that way in Hollywood, too.
Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, stars of equal magnitude who ruled in motion pictures in the fabulous '30s, never got to know one another. Now, in the Indian Summer of their careers, they're about to." – Hedda Hopper
Those lines from Feud: Bette and Joan Season 1 Episode 1 perfectly summarize the pilot of what is sure to be a magnificent series about the legendary animosity between Joan Crawford and Bette Davis.
My love/hate relationship with Ryan Murphy continues with Feud. After viewing only one hour of the five made available to critics, I got the sense we're in for an experience much like that of The People vs.

He got his start on the SNL state and now Eddie Murphy will make a special appearance during the show’s 40th Anniversary special on February 15th.
The “Nutty Professor” star told News One Now, "It just never worked out where the timing was right for me to do it. They're having a 40th anniversary ... I'm going to that. And that will be the first time I've been back since I left."
Indeed, Mr. Murphy hasn’t graced the SNL stage in over thirty years. Eddie joined the cast back in 1981 when he was 19 years old, making him the second-youngest performer in the history of the sketch comedy show.

Things are looking great for Ryan Murphy’s “American Horror Story: Freak Show” as Season Four’s premiere had the highest ratings ever for the FX Network.
Nabbing 13 million total viewers, the program topped all other shows for the 20-year history of the channel, leading CEO John Landgraf to declare, “The American Horror Story anthology has had the highest growth trajectory of any show in FX history, not to mention an unprecedented track record of success in awards recognition.”
“With Nip/Tuck, Glee, The Normal Heart, and American Horror Story, Ryan Murphy has established himself as one of the most successful and prolific producers of this generation. We expect Ahs: Freak Show and the next incarnation of Ahs to further his legacy,” he added.
To that end, FX has already ordered a fifth season of “American Horror Story,” so Mr. Murphy and his team had better get to work on 13 new episodes!

To start this review off with a little bit of colour (ahem), I was going to add some background info on Batman: Black & White’s history. What it is and how it came to be, that sort of thing. However, I sincerely doubt that there is anyone reading this who doesn’t already know that stuff, so I’ll skip it and get straight to the review. It has been one of the most talked about television shows for the past four years, but unfortunately for the fans, "Glee" has announced that the sixth season of the singing sensation series will be the last.
During an event honoring the FX Network at the Paley Center on Wednesday (October 16), co-creator the series Ryan Murphy stated the show will not go beyond its sixth season and the loss of co-star Cory Monteith has forced him to think about an alternative ending of the show.
"The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn's story," Mr. Murphy explained. "I always knew that, I always knew how ti would end. I knew what the last show was, he was in it. I knew what the last line, she said it to him."

While the actors who portray our favorite characters get the majority of fan adoration, more and more, writers and show runners are rightfully getting their place in the spotlight. Sure, Ali Liebert brings Betty’s swagger on Bomb Girls, but writers dream up the lines that cut through us like a warm knife through maple butter. Paige McCullers would be just a footnote — a field hockey penalty — if Pretty Little Liars’ show runner hadn’t seen her potential and gone with her gut. So here’s to the writers who inspire us, and the women and men who run the show. (Thank you to all of you who tweeted me your favorites.)

It seems like American Horror Story: Asylum’s thirteen episodes absolutely flew by. The season was wild and creepy and rich and satisfying, and an absolutely excellent follow up to the exquisite Season 1, American Horror Story. As I reported previously, I was lucky enough to attend a screening of the Asylum finale before it aired, followed by a Q&A session with the showrunner, Ryan Murphy. He was full of information about the just-completed season, the season to come, and the series in general.
Although I dashed out most of the Season 3 information immediately for your consumption last month, I had to hold back on the finale talk and anything that might have been associated with it; to be safe I waited on most all of the Season 2 discussion other than what was included in my season finale review.

If you loved American Horror Story and love American Horror Story Asylum like we do, then you likely also love Jessica Lange like we do. The woman is a force of nature. And although we might quibble a bit with showrunner Ryan Murphy‘s assertion that her role this year is the “opposite” of last year’s character, we’re just thrilled to have Constance, Sister Jude, and Jessica Lange on our screens.
Ms. Lange took a few minutes out to speak with the press last week about American Horror Story Asylum. Because we love her so, and we love you so, we are gifting you with all of the questions and answers. Grab a cup or glass of something wonderful and enjoy:
New York Times Hi, Ms. Lange. Congratulations on your Emmy victory for the show and the excellent work that you continue to do on the series.

We told you some time ago that the really quite attractive Mark Consuelos (All My Children) had been cast in American Horror Story Asylum. Had we not done so, I probably would have missed that it was his character who got in a tussle with Kit in the first episode, because he did Not look like himself. We got a longer – and even more unpleasant – look at him in last week’s episode, both before and after Dr. Arden’s “treatment.” Poor poor Spivey.
Mr. Consuelos, however, was in great spirits when he chatted with the press earlier this week. He was an absolute treat. You’ll need to know, in case you didn’t, that his wife is syndicated morning show host (and former All My Children co-star) Kelly Ripa (Live with Kelly and Michael):

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Previously on Ryan Murphy’s Collected Nightmares, Lana fell through a trap door into Dr. Thredyface’s murder room where he was keeping her girlfriend (literally) on ice, Kit was stunned to learn that his own confession could be used against him, Sistah Jude was increasingly just blowing off this whole nun thing, and Anne Frank got a lobotomy. And if none of that makes sense to you, just relax and let it wash over you like a wave of nausea.
This week we return to the present day abandoned Briarcliff, which I had completely forgotten about during the last two episodes. Cray-cray, indeed: American Horror Story: Asylum debuted Wednesday to very big numbers for FX. The latest chapter in Ryan Murphy's horror franchise drew 3.9 million viewers and averaged a 2.2 rating among adults under 50. That's better than any episode of last year's colon-free Ahs, and it's a 37 percent jump from the Ahs series premiere. Asylum also outdrew ABC's heavily hyped Nashville in the key demo and will very likely surpass CBS's CSI in the demo once DVR data gets figured into the Nielsen equation later this month. For those keeping score, this completes the fall 2012 hat trick for Mr. Murphy: His new NBC comedy, The New Normal, has been picked up for a full season, while Glee has been experiencing something of a creative renaissance during its fourth season (the latter's open to debate, of course, though we'd argue the breakup episode may have been the show's...

Eddie Murphy as a Detroit cop turned Beverly Hills Cop spawned two solid action-comedies during the 80's, the second one coming from the late Tony Scott, finally ending with a very forgetful third movie in 1994. Turns out Mr. Murphy is a fan of nostalgia and is reportedly looking to bring Axel Foley back to life for TV series run with The Shield creator Shawn Ryan. The two are apparently taking meetings with broadcast networks all over Hollywood to get their hour-long, buddy cop show in motion.

Superlatives are part and parcel of the entertainment industry, particularly with regard to cinema. Words such as "extraordinary," "superb," "amazing," and "best" are tossed around so often that they lose their meaning when applied to film. And it is a given that award ceremonies – Oscars, Emmys, Tonys, Grammys, etc. -- are hopelessly arbitrary, and mostly a promotional tool. Even award ceremonies based on "peer" review (e.g., Screen Actors Guild awards) are largely promotional "mutual admiration society" events.
However, there are some aspects of filmdom for which there is "hard" evidence. One of these is the term "highest-grossing." Even if revenue numbers are not exact to the penny, they are usually close enough to determine which film is "highest-grossing" in a particular year.
But is that same standard applicable to actors, directors and other film personnel? What does it mean that someone is the "highest-grossing actor" in a particular year,...

Patron Saint of Promising-Yet-Ultimately-Horribly-Frustrating Storylines Ryan Murphy released the first trailer for this little show he does called Glee via his Twitter account yesterday. The trailer features, among other things, our first glimpse of Rachel at Nyada and our first look at Brittany dancing without Santana. I am going to need a minute about that last one. Right, so, feast your eyes on the remaining McKinley Highers, folks. It looks a little too much like Blaine and the Pips for my liking. Also, where is Sugar? We demand Sugar!
Earlier in the week Mr. Murphy dropped another breadcrumb on faithful Gleeks via his Twitter feed as well when he posted a picture of Kate Hudson in the season premiere. She looks like she stepped out of a Chicago rehearsal with a swishy Chris Evans doppelganger.

So, this was what happened on The Glee Project this week!
See you all for the finale!
Oh, all right, other stuff happened too...
It’s Actability week on The Glee Project. Aside from gratuitous shirtlessness, there were fisticuffs, melodrama and a shocking surprise ending.
The Homework Assignment is "Addicted to love" by Robert Palmer. Only Michael has heard it and he seems delighted. Lily makes a disparaging comment about how "it’s so 80’s" which guarantees her removal from Snicks’ Christmas card list. Dianna Agron is the Celebrity Judge. And for an additional twist, as they are performing, she will hold up a flashcard with an emotion on it that they have to portray while singing.
Michael ends up winning for his determined face. I didn’t really see how he was better than Aylin, but I was happy he got a W. The song of the week is Pink’s "Perfect.

Glee Project watchers who raged against the special twist of Season 1′s finale — not one, but two winners scored seven-episode arcs, and a pair of runners-up snagged two-episode gigs — can stop planning a campaign of strongly worded Tweets to @MrRPMurphy. That’s because the penultimate episode of Season 2 found the show’s executive producer and his fellow judges swinging the axe, then swinging it again, thereby trimming the field from five down to three final contenders.

Okay here’s what co-creator co-showrunner Ryan Murphy has told us so far about what to expect in Season 2 of American Horror Story, which is expected to premiere this fall – in fact, that’s one of the things he has told us. He loves Halloween, no surprise there, and wants this show to be airing during the Halloween season. Yes, there is a Halloween season.
He also has told us, as we reported last February, that the second season will take place on the east coast, and as we reported in April, it will be in an institution for the criminally insane that is run by Jessica Lange‘s character, and that it will take place in a different time in history than the first season; it will be set in the 1960′s.

The ability to cry on command is an important part of any actor’s arsenal. Still, the Bottom 3 contestants on this week’s Glee Project put on such a display of waterworks during their last-chance performances, I was a little worried Glee‘s executive producer Ryan Murphy and his team of mentors might be swept out to sea, never to resolve the burning question of what the heck Kurt Hummel’s gonna do with his life now that he’s not getting into Nyada.

This week’s installment of The Glee Project found ship’s captain Ryan Murphy asking a question that endlessly plagues judges and fans of reality competition: “Do you cut someone because their attitude sucks?”
And given that we’re only on Episode 2 — where, unless you’re being asked to curl up on a bed of hungry leeches on Fear Factor, one’s attitude should reside somewhere at the corner of Chipper and Grateful — part of me was rooting for Mr. Murphy to answer that quesiton with a resounding “Heck, yeah.”
Luckily for Lily, who’s clearly grown up inside a cocoon of “that was perfection!

Pretty much every time Eddie Murphy releases a film like A Thousand Words, Imagine That, Meet Dave or even Daddy Daycare, the critical world at large starts wondering out loud about whether we'll ever see the 'return of funny Eddie,' which is of course code for 'R-rated Eddie Murphy.' The implication is, of course, that Murphy's more family-friendly work isn't funny, which is true (Meet Dave, The Haunted Mansion) about as often as it's false (Shrek, Dr. Doolittle). But what these pundits fail to realize is two-fold. First of all, we've been wondering when the Eddie Murphy of old will return longer than he was around in the first place. Second of all, that persona is dead. Dead and buried, and Mr. Murphy killed it himself right onscreen in front of us 16 years ago. The very film that launched his most recent 'comeback' is the film that revolved...

We told you back in December, when American Horror Story wrapped up its first season, that the second season would be an entirely new storyline with new characters in a new setting. This was according to Ryan Murphy, creator and showrunner. For many, the biggest loss would be Jessica Lange, who chewed up every scene she was in, and won a Golden Globe and a SAG award for her trouble.
Mr. Murphy did leave a little bit of wiggle room, though, when he said that some of the cast might return as other characters. This meant that when Ms. Lange picked up her Golden Globe, she was asked if she’d return to the show. “I don’t know” was her noncommital but squee-worthy reply; she didn’t say no!
But when she picked up her SAG award just over a week ago, she told EOnline ”I’m thinking about it…...

Ben Stiller is hosting Saturday Night Live this week, but the buzz heading into the weekend is that he might be joined by his Tower Heist co-star, Eddie Murphy, the biggest movie star that the sketch show ever produced. Nearly singlehandedly, Murphy maintained SNL’s must-see status after Lorne Michaels left in 1980, and his four seasons — in which he played Gumby, Mr. Robinson, and James Brown — remain as dynamic a showcase as any performer’s in the show’s rich history. But since exiting the show for Hollywood millions in 1984, Murphy has returned to host only once. He couldn’t...

If you listen closely to LCD Soundsystem's discography, you get glimmers that point to frontman James Murphy's love of food. When he's talking about a breakup, in "Someone Great," he's upset to discover that "the coffee isn't even bitter."
But now that the group has disbanded, Murphy has apparently decided to let his inner foodie hang all the way out. Melena Ryzik pens a great missive for the New York Times' Diner's Journal from a Le Fooding event in Manhattan this past weekend, at which Murphy acted as the sous chef for renowned Paris gastronaut Inaki Aizpitarte, of Le Chateaubriand. (Le Fooding is a French organization that puts on events that celebrate delicious food outside the confines of stuffy temples of haute cuisine.) Wylie Dufresne of Wd-50 griped that their line was longer than his. And apparently Murphy held his own alongside the culinary master. Ryzik writes:Mr. Aizpitarte praised Mr. Murphy as an assistant.

After 40,000 applicants, 12 contestants, 10 weeks of performances, and four evenly matched finalists, the inaugural season of Oxygen’s The Glee Project has reached its undeniably surprising conclusion. There were showtunes and big band tunes and even a Dolly Parton tune before a twist that was worthy of a Law & Order “chung-chung.” And the winner is…Samuel Larsen. And the winner is also…Damian McGinty.
Yes, indeed, Glee co-creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy dropped a bombshell at the end of Sunday night’s season finale that both Samuel and Damian had won respective seven-episode arcs on Season 3 of the Glee mothership.

The Glee Project aired its buzziest episode last Sunday — centered around early front-runner Cameron’s decision to exit the competition due to moral and religious discomfort during kissing scenes — but will an uptick in Gleekosphere chatter result in Oxygen’s latest reality entry scoring a second season? Executive producer Michael Davies addressed that question when Glee Project‘s producers, mentors and contestants gathered in Beverly Hills Tuesday for the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
Although the show has not been “officially picked up” for a second season, Davies revealed that “talks have begun. A lot of the planning has begun.

The Glee finale is just 12 days away and The Hollywood Reporter was there, in New York, to witness the insanity of what it is calling the show’s “biggest, craziest, most expensive show ever.” The episode, shot partially on location in New York City, cost $6 million and caused quite the fan frenzy what with the Glee gang running wild through the streets.

The MTV Networks' inaugural Comedy Awards will honor comedians, funny TV and film actors, and even Eddie Murphy, who's set to receive the ceremony's first Comedy Icon Award, which goes to "an individual who has made an extraordinary contribution to comedy and whose impact and innovations have changed the landscape and inspired future generations of entertainers." We all know Murphy's legendary stand-up specials like Delirious and Raw, his unforgettable SNL characters such as Mr. Robinson and Velvet Jones, and his great comedies like Beverly Hills Cop and Trading Places. But Mr. Murphy also has an illustrious career of unintentionally funny moments, and we'd like to present a quintet of these quazier times.

Music soothes the savage beast, makes the people come together, and is most definitely the key to a first-rate episode of Glee. Indeed, Monday night’s “Original Song,” which followed New Directions (and the Warblers) to Regionals — and advanced the Rachel-Finn-Quinn triangle with tearful confrontations and the Kurt-Blaine romance with a (!) big, romantic kiss — featured 11 separate songs, and the increased emphasis on musical numbers resulted in a frothy, riveting hour of television.
Not surprisingly, the respective glee clubs’ preparations for (and performances at) Regionals provided the main structure for the episode: Things kicked off at Dalton Academy, with the Warblers...

The following essay by the late African American Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, August Wilson, was first published in Spin Magazine, October 1990, and was later reprinted as a New York Times op-ed piece.
Consider it another item to throw into our ongoing deconstruction of the category we call “black cinema.”
It inspired several thoughts and recollections in me… especially that age-old discussion we’ve had periodically on how to define “blackness,” or the proverbial “black experience,” or “black stories,” “black aesthetic,” or “black film” – all labels that simply cannot be readily given meaning to.
Are there stories/experiences that are uniquely “black,” and others that are uniquely “white” that wouldn’t work in the reverse? What do you think? Obviously, a work like Roots, a uniquely African experience, set in a specific time period, certainly wouldn’t mean the same thing if the characters were all white. It simply wouldn’t exist.

Emma Thompson is embroiled in a court battle to get her latest film "Effie" off the ground after a New York playwright accused the actress of copyright infringement. Thanks to the wild popularity of Glee, Ryan Murphy has become a first choice for any film musical. We've heard his name bandied about as a choice for a Rocky Horror Picture Show remake [1] and the film version [2] of Wicked. And now he is evidently the top choice to direct the new version [3] of Annie that Sony is prepping as a vehicle for Willow Smith. Sony and Will Smith's company Overbrook Entertainment (which has partnered with Jay-z for this and other films) wants to concoct a film that can do for Willow Smith what The Karate Kid remake did for Jaden Smith. And thanks to the single 'Whip My Hair,' the girl is probably already a lot more popular than her brother. (Or better-known, at least, which as GI Joe will agree is half the popularity battle.) Deadline [4] offers that Sony has approached Mr. Murphy about the job,...

Executive producers and TV showrunners are generally tight-lipped about future storylines. Of course, it's an understandable policy to keep most things under wraps to avoid spoiling the fun for viewers.
"Glee" head honcho Ryan Murphy seems to have a different way of keeping his secrets, though. As opposed to dropping the old "no comment," Murphy has developed a bit of a reputation for ... well, misleading the press -- and, in turn, the fans.
When it was reported recently that "Glee" would be doing a Justin Bieber-centric episode this spring, Murphy was quick to refute the claims. "Glee is not doing a Justin Bieber tribute episode. We are not doing any more of those this season," he said. "We are doing an episode where Sam sings a Jb song to win Quinn back, and copies his hairstyle. But it's a small part of a big episode."
