Stephen Nathan started his career in 1971 when he originated the role of Jesus in the hit musical Godspell, for which he won the Variety Critics' Poll for Best Actor in a Musical and received a gold record for his work on the Original Cast album. As an actor, he worked on both coasts before settling in Los Angeles, where he acted in film and television projects until he began writing and producing in the late 1970s. In addition to developing feature films at all the major studios, Nathan has written and/or produced more than 300 episodes of television, working on such series as Laverne & Shirley (1976), Everybody Loves Raymond (1996), Love & War (1992), Tracey Takes On... (1996) (for which he was nominated for an Emmy and won the Writer's Guild Award), Jesse (1998) (People's Choice Award), and Family Law (1999) (on which he served as Executive Producer with David Shore and Academy Award Winner Paul Haggis.. Nathan has also written numerous other television projects with Haggis. Between 2003 and 2005, Nathan served as an Executive Producer on the award-winning series Joan of Arcadia (2003), as well as creating a new comedy for the BBC, That's It For Richard. In 2005 he became an Executive Producer on the FOX hit Bones (2005).
