Singer-songwriter of the rock group BAP,whose lyrics are written in the dialect of Cologne, since 1976 and the band's only remaining original member.

Awarded the Frankfurt Music Prize in 1996.

Good friends with director Wim Wenders who portrayed BAP in his movie Ode to Cologne: A Rock 'N' Roll Film (2002).

Has two sons from his first marriage and two daughters with his present wife Tina, a photographer.
