Joseph Novoa is an Uruguayan-American-Venezuelan Film Producer, Director and Writer. Right now he is working in six new production in partnership with his wife Elia Schneider and son Joel Novoa.
He directed television in RCTV from 1990 to 1992 (3 soap operas and a feature TV film. His film Sicario (Assassin for hire) (1994) was on the billboard for 35 weeks, becoming one of the most important box office hits in Venezuela, winning 27 international awards . Sicario was the Official selection to the Academy (Oscar) His next full-length film Garimpeiros (Oro diablo-Devil's Gold) was a box-office success in Venezuela and won 3 international awards. In addition, it was the Official Selection for the Oscars in 1999, representing Venezuela. El Don premiered in 2006, becoming one of the most important box offices successes that year.
Joseph Novoa is the producer of the films Huelepega (Glue Sniffer), Punto y Raya (Dot and Line, Des-Autorizados (Un-authorized) Esclavo de Dios (God's Slave) and Tamara. On the international scene he produced En la puta vida, Be happy, Encarnación, Cuchillos en el Cielo, Estela, Polvo. seras ..and El premio (The Prize). A Distant Place an Ibero-American co-production between Argentina, Spain and Venezuela with the participation of Televisión Española (TVE), Ibermedia and Panavisión. The screenplay was a finalist in the screenplay competition in Havana, Cuba.
