- Late-1990s, O'Brien toured with the casts of "West Side Story" and "Beauty and the Beast." Then working with Bernadette Peters, "Annie Get Your Gun" on Broadway in 1998, O'Brien followed her to New York. Next came "The Producers" with Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane.
- Concurrently with his work on The Mickey Mouse Club (1955), also appeared occasionally as part of the "Lawrence Welk's Little Band" on The Lawrence Welk Show (1955) during the mid-'50s.
- Married to a graduate of the University of Oregon, and may often be seen wearing a cap or shirt bearing the likeness of the Oregon mascot--Donald Duck.
