Brand new sales agency Neo Art International has picked up worldwide sales rights outside Italy to Claudio Amendola’s black comedy film trilogy “Cassamortari” (“Funeral Family”).
The film trilogy narrates the story of The Pasti Family, a Roman family who work in the funeral business.
The three titles of the saga are set up at Rome-based company Paco Cinematografica, and co-produced with Antonia Nava’s Neo Art Producciones in Barcelona.
“I Cassamortari,” the first title of the saga, was streamed in 2022 in Italy by Amazon Prime Video, described as an Amazon Exclusive production.

Exclusive: Fresh off the series finale of CBS’ True Lies, Omar Miller has entered production in Italy on Naples to New York, an indie based on a story penned in the 1940s by a young Federico Fellini, who was not yet a filmmaker, and his longtime friend and collaborator Tullio Pinelli.
Set in 1949, this is a story of two children who set off on a journey across the ocean, as stowaways on a ship, looking for a family and opportunity in America. Along the way, they encounter characters both well-meaning and nefarious, who cement their faith in humanity. Miller plays George, an American cook on an international merchant ship who befriends our two young Italian stowaways. He’s a gentle giant with great comedic timing, and a strong sense of humanity.
Gabriele Salvatores is directing from his own script, with Paco Cinematografica, Isabella Cocuzza and Arturo Paglia serving as exec producers.

Oscar-winning director Gabriele Salvatores (“Mediterraneo”) is back behind the camera on “Napoli – New York,” a period immigration drama based on a story written for the screen by Federico Fellini.
Fellini co-wrote the tale of two Neapolitan kids who embark on a ship to New York to escape Italy’s early postwar poverty with his frequent collaborator Tullio Pinelli, a writer on the Italian maestro’s “La Dolce Vita” and “8 1/2,” as well as other titles.
Italian A-lister Pierfrancesco Favino stars as the chief officer of the ship which the two kids, named Carmine and Celestina, manage to board surreptitiously in the port of Naples, becoming clandestine passengers. The youngsters are on a mission to reach the U.S. where they dream of living with Celestina’s sister, who emigrated to New York two years earlier. Newcomers Dea Lanzaro e Antonio Guerra play the kids. (See first-look image above of Favino with the kids and Salvatores.

Bittersweet love story stars Jeremy Irons and Olga Kurylenko.
Production is underway on Giuseppe Tornatore’s Correspondence, starring Jeremy Irons and Olga Kurylenko. The film will shoot over 10 weeks in Italy, Edinburgh and York.
Correspondence reunites much of the same production team behind Tornatore’s The Best Offer, including the Italian director’s long-time collaborator, Ennio Morricone, as composer.
It marks the film-maker’s third English-language film and the story, also written by Tornatore, is a bittersweet tale of love and loss.
It tells of a PhD student (Kurylenko) who takes excessive risks in her paid work as a stuntwoman. Driven by feelings of overwhelming guilt about a tragic event in her past, rather than a desire to live dangerously, it is through her relationship with an older astrophysics professor (Irons) that she learns to reconcile past and present and face life’s vicissitudes.
Umedia International is launching the film at the forthcoming Cannes Marche, having previously...

In preparation for the forthcoming Creative Europe Programme Committee meeting in Brussels, the EC’s Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (Eacea) has drawn up revised and updated guidelines for the Culture and Media sub-programmes based on the experience of Creative Europe’s first year of operations from January 1, 2014.
Innovation and the use of the latest digital technologies will be given greater emphasis in the guidelines for training under the Media sub-programme, according to the Eacea’s proposals.
In future, eligible training activities will include those offering training in “new modes of distribution and exploitation using the latest digital technologies including social media” as well as training in “knowledge sharing and networking capabilities”, while the award criteria will now also take “the deployment of digital technologies” and “the technical and management experience of the [project] team” into account.
