He was married to Judith Grass (? - divorced) and Noelle Shaughnessy (? - divorced). He died on 30 October 2013 in New York City, New York, USA.

He has done 16 novels often called &#39;Medical Thrillers&#39;. Some of his novels made it to the New York Times best seller list and were translated into 35 languages.

His ashes were sprinkled into the Atlantic Ocean.
