Anwar Kamal Pasha was born in Lahore in 1925. He was first introduced as a film dialogue and film screenplay writer in the film world. Then he worked as an assistant film director with director Luqman for Pakistani film Shahida (1949). Hakim Ahmad Shuja , a film story writer, was his father. Pasha was married to actress Shamim who had acted in some Pakistani films in the early 1950's. His big breakthrough, as a film director, came with film Do Ansoo (1950) which became a super-hit at the box-office. He then went on to produce and direct many highly successful films in Pakistan including Gumnam (1954),Qatil (1955),Sarfarosh (1956) and Anarkali (1958) in Urdu language. Anwar Kamal Pasha also made some super-hit movies in the Punjabi language for example Chan Mahi (1956), Zulfaan (1957) and Sher Khan (1981). Anwar Kamal Pasha was nice and generous enough to train and introduce many people to the Pakistan film Industry who later made a name for themselves including film Dulla Bhatti (1956) film director M.S. Dar, film directors M. Akram, Altaf Hussain, music director Master Abdullah and renowned Pakistani actors Aslam Pervaiz and Musarrat Nazir. He died on Oct.13,1987 at age 62 but left behind a legacy of being one of the pioneer film producer-directors of Pakistan.
