Tom Paxton was born on 31 October 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He is an actor and composer, known for Demolition Man (1993), The Family Man (2000) and Inside Llewyn Davis (2013). He was previously married to Margaret Ann (Midge) Cummings.

Was a drama student and acted in summer stock theater.

Served in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Dix near Trenton, New Jersey.

<a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm1512023/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Chris Slade</a> recorded some albums with him in 1971.

Received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009.
