- Gilles Pelletier was born on March 22, 1925 in Québec, Canada. He was an actor, known for The Barbarian Invasions (2003), Jesus of Montreal (1989) and R.C.M.P. (1959). He was married to Françoise Graton. He died on September 5, 2018 in Montréal, Québec, Canada.

- In 1998, he was awarded the Prix Denise-Pelletier, one of the 11 Prix du Québec which recognize cultural and scientific achievements for French-speaking Canadians. This particular prize is named for his late sister, a noted actress of the Quebec stage, and was given in recognition of Gilles' lifetime of accomplishment in the performing arts.
- 1964 - A co-founder of the Nouvelle Compagnie théâtrale, a Canadian organization devoted to making live theater performances available to young people. During a 15-year period, he served as administratve director and later artistic director, giving up much of his career as a stage performer for this goal.
