Harry Piekema
- Actor
Starting out a young theatre actor at 21, Harry was known for his comical skills, physicality and timing. Soon he was asked to play a variety of roles that required the combination of drama and comedy, but also plays that had a need for actors who were multi-disciplined.
That's why his long-standing career show such a rich pallet. An asylum seeker suffering from aphasia, a Neo-Nazi in training, a bass-singer of the famous close harmony group Comedian Harmonists, a father to an invalid son, a high brow intellectual teacher, the list is long and divers.
In 2004 he was cast for the role that made him a household friend for ten years in every Dutch family, in the most successful commercial campaign of the Netherlands, playing the ever like-able Mr van Dalen for Albert Heyn. The campaign was awarded twice, the first time for best and most effective commercial campaign, the second for his farewell commercial that showed a compilation of the most funny and touching moments.
He then produced and played several solo theatre-shows like 'Unknown', 'Man on ladder with lamp' and recently 'Hoogvlieger' which can not be translated, but tells the story of Icarus and his brilliant, but unknown, father Daedalus. He starred in the theatre marathon adaptation of the TV hit-series 'Borgen', as the ultra right politician Svend Saltum.
Fall 2018 he alternates between theatre, TV and film while preparing for a TV program staring February 2019.
