Roger Planchon was born on September 12, 1931 in Saint-Chamond, Loire, France. He was an actor and director, known for A Man Escaped (1956), Lautrec (1998) and Danton (1983). He died on May 12, 2009 in Paris, France.
Influential French playwright, actor and stage director. A theatrical company he formed in the 1950's became the Lyon-based Théâtre National Populaire (TNP) in 1972. He served as its director until 2002.
