María Antonieta Pons was born on 11 June 1922 in Havana, Cuba. She was an actress, known for Teatro del crimen (1957), La vida íntima de Marco Antonio y Cleopatra (1947) and Embrujo antillano (1946). She was married to Ramón Pereda and Juan Orol. She died on 20 August 2004 in Mexico City, Mexico.

Was one of a half-dozen stars whose extravagant costumes and dance
numbers earned them the nickname &quot;Tropical Queens&quot; and created a style
that lasted into the 1950s, and helped define the tropical-dancer movie
