CBS is rolling out a new NCIS spin-off this fall.
NCIS: Origins will follow a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs and tell new stories about the character made famous by Mark Harmon.
NCIS: Origins is set in 1991, years before the events shown on NCIS.
On the new show, a different actor plays Gibbs, which may frustrate some die-hard NCIS fans who feel there is only one Gibbs.

A younger Mike Franks (played by Kyle Schmid) is also ready to help the show thrive.
Will NCIS fans tune in to watch more stories about Gibbs and Franks? We will soon find out!

Eve Hewson is in early talks to star in Steven Spielberg’s untitled event film, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The actress most recently starred opposite Nicole Kidman and Dakota Fanning in Netflix’s limited series, The Perfect Couple. Her other credits include Bad Sisters, Flora and Son, The Knick, Enough Said and This Must Be The Place.
Spielberg’s film would also be a reunion for Hewson and the Oscar-winning filmmaker after they first worked together on his Bridge of Spies. The 2015 film, starring Tom Hanks, follows an American lawyer who is recruited to defend an arrested Soviet spy in court during the Cold War and then helps the CIA facilitate an exchange of the spy for the Soviet-captured American U2 spy plane pilot, Francis Gary Powers.

The cast of NCIS: Origins is in an exciting position to make NCIS history. The stars of the Leroy Jethro Gibbs prequel series will be the first actors cast in an NCIS spinoff positioned in the past. Mark Harmon played Jethro Gibbs in the original series, but Austin Stowell will take over the character in NCIS: Origins' 1991 setting. Instead, Harmon will return to narrate the prequel story and is also part of the production as an executive producer with his son, Sean Harmon. Aside from Gibbs, NCIS: Origins story will bring back other familiar characters with new faces.
NCIS: Origins is the fifth spinoff in the NCIS franchise, but it is, in many ways, the first of its kind. It's the first offshoot to expand on the story of an original NCIS character. The series will delve into the relationship between Gibbs and Special Agent Mike Franks, played by Muse Watson in the original show.

Shaken, stirred, or even streamed, spy movies make up many of the most exciting, edge-of-your-seat stories the movies have to offer. From the harrowing heights of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise to the suave savvy of six James Bonds, espionage has become the thematic ground on which some of cinema’s most epic dramas, thrillers, and comedies are built. Even films primarily centered on other subject matter make frequent use of spy drama beats, proving it’s a bedrock source for onscreen entertainment.
The espionage genre is as old as filmmaking itself with silent spy movies set against the backdrop of World War I (1914’s “The German Spy Peril” is on YouTube) testing the medium’s limitations early in the 20th century. Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies is a riveting political thriller that chronicles the true story of insurance lawyer James B. Donovan (Tom Hanks) as he finds himself tasked with the legal protection of a Kgb spy captured in America. Like Spielberg’s best work, Bridge of Spies takes a highly entertaining approach to a complex story that tackles plenty of important, topical issues. The movie primarily focuses on the constant threat of conflict that loomed over the world throughout the Cold War, detailing the importance of those who fought for what they believed in, regardless of the dangers it posed to them.
Bridge of Spies has a fascinating ending that’s filled with tension and surprises, as Donovan and his team pull off a high-stakes soldier exchange with the Soviet government. The way that these final moments perfectly encapsulate its central themes makes Bridge of Spies one of Spielberg’s best movies,...
