Ted Pugh began teaching Michael Chekhov's Acting technique in the early 1980's in New York City, and founded the Actors Ensemble. He is one of the premier Chekhov teachers world wide, having had a successful stage career prior to this and continuing through out his leadership of the Actors Ensemble. He opened the Michael Chekhov School with Fern Sloan in 2014-15. Participants of his early classes include Fern Sloan, Lisa Dalton, Mala Powers, Glen Williamson, Melania Levitsky, Chas Harper, Dorothy Emmerson held at the Rudolf Steiner High School, Beatrice Straight's Michael Chekhov Studio and the Anthroposophical Society of New York. He was on the faculty of the first Michael Chekhov International Workshops in Europe and the United States during the 1990's.
