A sequel to NBC’s “L.A. Law” starring Blair Underwood is in development, but this time at ABC.
The project would see Underwood reprise his role as attorney Jonathan Rollins alongside a new crop of young lawyers.
Marc Guggenheim would write the series and executive produce alongside Ubah Mohamed, with Anthony Hemmingway directing. Jesse Bochco, the son of the late Steven Bochco (who co-created the original series), would also executive produce.
Here is the logline for the new version: The venerable law firm of McKenzie Brackman reinvents itself as a litigation firm specializing in only the most high-profile, boundary-pushing and incendiary cases. Blair Underwood reprises his role as attorney Jonathan Rollins, who has gone from idealistic to more conservative as he clashes with millennial JJ Freeman to decide the best path forward for the firm to effect political and legal change.

To mark the release of the first season of La Law on DVD, the La Times talked to some of the stars of the landmark legal series -- Harry Hamlin (handsome attorney Michael Kuzak), Corbin Bernsen (vain divorce lawyer Arnie Becker), Jill Eikenberry (idealistic attorney Ann Kelsey), Jimmy Smits (passionate lawyer Victor Sifuentes), and Alan Rachins (obnoxious firm partner Douglas Brackman Jr.).
The show ran for eight seasons and 172 episodes on NBC, from 1986 until 1994. While the ratings had dropped quite a bit before the end, the series finale drew 22 million viewers on May 19, 1994.
The peacock network aired a reunion on May 12, 2002 -- La Law: The Movie -- which brought back many of the original castmembers. It attracted nearly 12 million viewers.

Title: Any Day Now Director: Travis Fine Starring: Alan Cumming, Garret Dillahunt, Isaac Leyva, Chris Mulkey, Frances Fisher, Kelli Williams, Mindy Sterling, Alan Rachins, Jamie Anne Allman A warmly captured, wonderfully sketched, 1970s period piece social-issue drama, “Any Day Now” tells the story of a gay Los Angeles couple fighting to at first legalize and then establish the permanence of their adoption of a neglected teenager with Down Syndrome. Engaging performances and a beguiling, unfussy technique anchor this big-hearted tearjerker, which cycles through some familiar territory but also deftly and movingly sidesteps conventional wisdom about where this tale may end up. Drag queen performer and would-be singer Rudy (Alan Cumming) [ Read More ]

Hey, Paul Anderson! Just so you know, I'm a lot more likely to watch The Asylum's 3 Musketeers than I am yours. Sure, it'll be horrible but it'll also be fun. Yours will only be one of those things.Alexandra D'Artagnan, junior Nsa officer, uncovers a plot to assasinate the President of the United States and enlists the help of three infamous international spies to stop the threat. So, yeah, it's got nothing to do with much of anything, including the correct spelling of 'assassinate'. Veteran stunt coordinator - 224 credits! - and Asylum veteran Cole McKay directs with Heather Hemmens, Xin, Alan Rachins, Keith Allan, Michelle Boyd, and David Chokachi starring....

Chicago – I’ll admit that I never jumped on the “Showgirls” so-bad-it’s-good bandwagon that turned one of the biggest bombs of the ’90s into a cult hit that plays at midnight in theaters around the world. Not unlike “Rocky Horror Picture Show,” people have been drawn to the film that killed the career of nearly everyone involved and is so awful that it became the go-to bad movie reference until “Gigli” came out. Catch up with the suck on the “Showgirls: 15th Anniversary Sinsational Edition.”
Blu-Ray Rating: 3.0/5.0
Seeing the film for the first time in a decade-and-a-half, I was struck by how truly horrible it is. History has produced a number of theatrical disasters that time proves out merely to be dull above anything else (ex., “Cutthroat Island,” “Waterworld,” “The Avengers,” many more) but “Showgirls” is an absolute train wreck from the very first scene. Paul Verhoeven has...

Now that the presidential election is over, it's time to put to rest one of the campaign's stranger urban legends. Was Blair Underwood's L.A. Law character based on a young Barack Obama?
L.A. Law debuted on September 15, 1986. The NBC series was created by prolific Steven Bochco (Hill Street Blues) and gave a big break to David E. Kelley, the talented writer who later created legal shows like Ally McBeal, The Practice, and Boston Legal. In its day, L.A. Law was a cornerstone of NBC's mega-successful Thursday night line-up. Following a group of lawyers at a Los Angeles law firm, the series showcases actors like Corbin Bernsen, Jill Eikenberry, Alan Rachins, Michael Tucker, Richard Dysart, Larry Drake, Susan Ruttan, Susan Dey, Jimmy Smits, Harry Hamlin, Michele Greene, John Spencer, Sheila Kelley, and Amanda Donohoe.
Blair Underwood joined the show's cast in season two as a young hotshot black attorney named Jonathan Rollins.

Film review: 'Meet Wally Sparks'
He's lewd, crude and rude, and he's got viewers glued to the tube. Meet Rodney Dangerfield as a trash TV icon, beloved by the masses but a bane to sponsors and his bosses. Fights, nudity and bad taste abound on his show, but this Trimark release doesn't capitalize well on the sleazy milieu.
The masses will stay away from the libidinous farce "Meet Wally Sparks". With only Dangerfield's waning appeal to recommend it, first-time feature director Peter Baldwin's unremarkable comedy is not salvaged by the few genuinely hilarious lines and routines.
"Meet Wally Sparks" is notable for the many cameos and bit players -- from Burt Reynolds to Michael Bolton to Tim Allen -- who appear as backup to 75-year-old Dangerfield, playing his familiar character, a goofy, randy, blunt jerk who drinks a lot and causes much unintentional destruction of property.
More substantial supporting chores are handled by David Ogden Stiers as the governor of Georgia, an Old Boy conservative who despises Sparks; and the governor's wife (Cindy Williams).
The threadbare plot revolves around a young fan of Sparks' inviting him to a formal party given by his father, the governor.
In need of new material and facing cancellation of his show, Sparks approaches Stiers' character under false assumptions, and comically Dangerfield gives him his best shot, including a truly inspired dance sequence.
Behind the major players, Sparks' vampish producer Debi Mazar manipulates the smitten assistant of the governor.
It's hard to imagine a film with more penis jokes and salacious banter, but the pace is slowed down by subplots that go nowhere and more than a few limp gags.
