Name your top scenes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there are a few flawless moments that will probably make the list. Captain America and Iron Man's fight in Siberia in "Captain America: Civil War" is a top option. So is Thor's arrival on the battlefields of Wakanda in "Infinity War." If there's one moment in all of the on-screen Marvel magic that always gets fans worked up into a collective ball of nostalgic emotion, though, it has to be the famous "Portals" scene at the end of "Avengers: Endgame."
Steve Rogers is standing amidst the ruins of the Avengers compound: beaten down, desperate, and at the end of the line. Yes, he can do this all day, but night seems to be approaching. We know Avengers: Doomsday will begin shooting in the next couple of months, but it now sounds like there's been a slight delay. According to scooper Daniel Richtman, cameras won't begin rolling until April (it was previously reported that work would begin in March).
Why the change? It's said the script still isn't quite finished. However, that isn't really cause for concern, particularly as many Marvel Studios movies are written while cameras are rolling...sometimes for the better, and occasionally for the worse.
Avengers: Endgame scribe Stephen McFeely is penning Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, minus his normal writing partner Christopher Markus. The screenplays for both movies have been started from scratch, with Jeff Loveness and Michael Waldron's ideas reportedly scrapped.
There's also some chatter online that a stunt double will shoot some of Tom Holland's Spider-Man scenes, with the actor essentially being enlisted for a voiceover role when he's not unmasked.

Robert Downey Jr. marked Valentine’s Day with some villainous fun. The Oscar winner shared a Doctor Doom-themed Valentine’s Day card to his 57.1 million Instagram followers, complete with a box of chocolates inside the Marvel villain’s iconic mask. As all moviegoers know, Downey is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doom in 2026’s “Avengers: Doomsday.”
Downey helped birth the MCU by playing Tony Stark in 2008’s “Iron Man,” the first installment in the long-running film universe. The actor would go on to reprise the superhero in 10 Marvel films over the next 11 years, including two standalone “Iron Man” sequels and four “Avengers” movies. The character died in 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame,” making Downey’s return as a different character, Doctor Doom, all the more surprising. Downey revealed his Doom casting to much shock and awe at Comic-Con last year.

On your left! Before Anthony Mackie leads the latest star-spangled adventure for Marvel Studios, Captain America: Brave New World, we’re looking back at the film that introduced the masses to Sam Wilson and gave Chris Evans’s Steve Rogers his best cinematic experience, Captain America: The Winter Solider. As the ninth film in Marvel’s cinematic universe and a sequel to 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, The Winter Solider brings superhero cinema to another level for a political action-thriller unlike anything in the studio’s history before its 2014 release. Which begs the question: What the fuck happened to Captain America: The Winter Soldier?
Work on Captain America: The Winter Soldier began before Marvel released The First Avenger, with writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely penning the screenplay. Multiple directors approached the high-profile sequel, including The Bourne Ultimatum director George Nolfi and F. Gary Gray, known for directing Ice...

Will The Mad Titan return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to take his revenge on Earth's Mightiest Heroes?
Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are shaping up to me massive MCU events, and the latter, in particular, could easily wind up being the most ambitious superhero movie ever made.
Even though only a handful of characters have been confirmed to appear (and even then only via trade reports), the movie is expected to feature a new roster of Earth's Mightiest Heroes (the Thunderbolts* team are rumored to form the basis of these New Avengers) along with the surviving members of the original team.
We have also heard that at least some variants will be involved, and could form a team of "Evil Avengers."
Previous rumors have claimed that Thanos is set to return, and Josh Brolin is said to be in talks to reprise the role. We had assumed...

Described as a crime thriller, Netflix’s The Whisper Man will adapt the same-titled novel from author Alex North, which was originally published by Celadon Books back in 2019.
“The Whisper Man revolves around a widow crime writer who, after his 8-year-old son is abducted, looks to his estranged father, a retired former police detective, for help.”

Anticipation is at an all-time high for Avengers: Doomsday to deliver a memorable experience worthy of succeeding Avengers: Endgame — a huge movie that reunited every big Marvel Cinematic Universe hero on the big screen. So how could Disney ever hope to top that? It's an extremely tough task, especially considering that fan favorites such as Iron Man and Captain America are now out of the picture. Fortunately, there's one way in which Marvel could still take audiences by surprise, and it's all thanks to the multiverse.
Deadpool & Wolverine and Spider-Man: No Way Home are proof that a well-executed multiversal storyline is capable of achieving big things while gaining the love of fans along the way. It's more than simply featuring big "cameos" just for the sake of it. It's about incorporating unexpected characters from alternate realities in big supporting roles to enhance the story. That's why everyone expected Avengers: Doomsday to keep the trend going,...

During an extensive interview with Esquire, Captain America: Brave New World star Anthony Mackie was asked about reprising the role of Sam Wilson for his first big-screen outing wielding the iconic shield.
Mackie - who has seen the movie in full - addressed some of the negativity surrounding the fourth Captain America adventure that arose from reports of extensive reshoots and lukewarm/negative test-screenings.
“It’s literally the best movie it can be. It stays in the lines of Marvel. It stays in the lines of Captain America, and it’s fun and it’s big.”
“Every movie that Marvel has made, every movie that DC has made—Star Wars, Star Trek, Disney—has done reshoots,” he added."
The actor was also asked about the "inevitable" comparisons that will be drawn between President Ross/Red Hulk (Harrison Ford) and President Donald Trump.

It’s Netflix’s world today, we’re just living in it. The streaming service has dropped a new clip from The Electric State, the upcoming sci-fi adventure from directors Joe and Anthony Russo. Based on the illustrated novel by Simon Stålenhag, the film takes place in an alternate, retro-futuristic version of the 1990s where sentient robots, who once peacefully served among humans, now live in exile following a failed uprising.
The Electric State clip finds Michelle (Millie Bobby Brown) and Keats (Chris Pratt) being carried by Herman (Anthony Mackie) in their Volkswagen van. After a little reminiscing, the group comes across an abandoned mall but is quickly attacked by another robot who starts flinging refrigerators at them. Who throws a fridge, honestly?

The X-Men are one of the most special parts of the huge Marvel Universe, yet when it comes to on-screen adaptation, they haven’t received much flare. Marvel Rivals has taken the world by storm and it’s no surprise that leakers are preying upon upcoming updates from NetEase Games. However, the Marvel Rivals team has taken a page out of Kevin Fegie’s playbook to keep its secrets safe.
Like Kevin Feige, Marvel Rivals is planting false information within its game files to mislead leakers. However, while Kevin Fegie did this to keep leakers out of the loop, the game is using this tactic to catch them.

The gaming community has always been fascinated with leaks, which is why there’s an entire industry built around it. While there is an element of fun when dissecting details from teasers and trailers, unnecessary leaks ruin the element of surprise.
This could also affect developers as carefully planned reveals and marketing campaigns could be ruined completely.

Previously, the Isaiah Saxon-directed and -written family title was to hit theaters February 28. Pic reps Saxon’s directorial debut which he’s been making for years, and it features a medley of puppetry, animatronics, matte paintings and 3D animation.
Saxon recently lost his home in the Los Angeles wildfires, as revealed by NPR. The filmmaker will be in Sundance to celebrate the premiere of the pic, along with cast Helena Zengel, Finn Wolfhard, Emily Watson and Willem Dafoe.

The next Avengers movies haven't had the easiest of journeys to the big screen. Original plans called for them to be released in the same year, with Jeff Loveness (Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania) writing The Kang Dynasty and Michael Waldron (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) tasked with Secret Wars.
Jonathan Majors' personal and legal issues combined with the largely negative response to the Ant-Man threequel meant Kang the Conqueror was dropped as the MCU next big bad.
The return of directors Joe and Anthony Russo and writer Stephen McFeely later transformed Avengers 5 into Avengers: Doomsday - where Robert Downey Jr. will be the lead villain as Doctor Doom - and both Loveness and Waldron's scripts have been scrapped.
At last July's San Diego Comic-Con, it was confirmed that The Fantastic Four: First Steps' leads will play a key role in the next Avengers movie. We don't...

Benedict Cumberbatch revealed during an interview for Variety’s Sundance cover that his immediate reaction to the news that Robert Downey Jr. was returning to Marvel as the villainous Doctor Doom was complete and utter shock. After all, Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange shared many scenes with Downey’s Iron Man in films like “Avengers: Endgame.”
Downey’s surprise Doctor Doom role was announced to the world at Comic-Con last year, and Cumberbatch immediately grabbed his phone to message Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige.
“I texted, ‘What the fuck?’ and then quickly added, ‘Good what-the-fuck. I mean, good what-the-fuck,’” Cumberbatch said.
Downey will debut as the Marvel villain in 2026’s “Avengers: Doomsday,” which will also mark the returns of longtime MCU directors Joe and Anthony Russo. But Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will not be facing off against Doom in that superhero tentpole. “Is that a spoiler?” he asks. “Fuck it!”

Hot Toys continues to celebrate the legacy of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, this time with a new 1/6th scale figure based on Sebastian Stan's take on the 2014 movie's villainous Winter Soldier.
It's incredibly realistic but won't be easy to come by (and it certainly won't be cheap). The Special Edition is limited to 2,000 units (and includes a Captain America Shield with a heavy weathering effect), while there will only be 1,000 units for the regular version.
There's been some disappointment about the lack of eye makeup, but it's an overall badass figure and definitely does the character justice.
Stan first played Bucky Barnes in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger; after The Winter Soldier, he returned in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. He'll next be seen in Thunderbolts*, though we expect a Captain America: Brave New World cameo.

Hollywood’s unexpected love affair with lower league English football is continuing.
Avengers director Joe Russo has been named on the board of Championship side Sheffield United, after the club was taken over by a U.S.-led consortium, Coh Sports, last month. He was also named as an investor.
Russo is the latest Hollywood figure to invest in an English soccer team, coming after the likes of Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who hosted Russo at a match in Wales in April 2023 in which the Red Dragons were promoted back into the English Football League. Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady is part of the group that owns Birmingham City.
In a press release announcing new board members, Sheffield United called Russo a “record-breaking director and producer who has been responsible for some of the most successful and culturally relevant global content.”

The iconic portals scene in Avengers: Endgame became one of the best scenes in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it turns out there was a lot of debate happening behind the scenes on how to execute it. It's been no easy feat getting the next Avengers movies into theaters. They were originally set to be released in the same year, with Jeff Loveness (Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania) writing The Kang Dynasty and Michael Waldron (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) tasked with Secret Wars.
Since then, it's become clear to fans and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige that entrusting the relatively inexperienced Rick & Morty scribes with the Multiverse Saga's final chapters perhaps wasn't the wisest move.

MCU writer Stephen McFeely initially turned down a pitch to return to the “Avengers” franchise with upcoming films “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars,” but walked back his decision the very next day.
“I remember calling Steve and said, ‘Hey, crazy idea. Joe and Anthony Russo said they’d had many conversations with the Marvel camp over the years about new storylines, but the “Secret Wars” arc stuck.

The Russo Brothers have shared a bit of the behind-the-scenes story behind their return to the MCU with a pair of forthcoming Avengers films, Doomsday and Secret Wars.
In an interview with Empire Magazine published on Monday, filmmaker Anthony Russo, who’s directing the forthcoming films alongside brother Joe, shared that it “took a little time” to begin to think about Avengers: Endgame as anything but the end of their journey with the MCU, after successfully mounting that 2019 title as one of the highest grossing films of all time.
Over the years, he shared, there have been conversations with the team at Marvel — including President Kevin Feige and Co-President Louis D’Esposito — and ideas thrown around for potential new films on which to collaborate. But “really what happened was, we ended up stumbling upon an idea that activated all of us,” said Anthony. “You couldn’t see it coming until it came,...

The Multiverse Saga has been an undeniably strange ride, with post-credits scenes introducing countless new characters and a long list of TV shows adding fresh faces to the MCU one after the other.
Frustratingly, most of them haven't been seen since. Major new characters like Moon Knight, Shang-Chi, Hawkeye, and She-Hulk have only shown up in their respective movies and TV shows, though they will all likely factor into Avengers: Doomsday. As for Hercules, Clea, and Starfox, they've gone no further than the stingers referenced above.
However, if The Marvels taught us anything, it's that moviegoers won't necessarily follow these characters from streaming to theaters (and that many people don't see Marvel Television's offerings as essential viewing).
Over the past 24 hours, a social media post has gone viral detailing how little we've seen the Multiverse Saga's major players between the events of Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Doomsday. It makes...

Avengers: Secret Wars receives an exciting tease as its directors explain why they took on the Marvel Cinematic Universe project. The Russo Brothers have directed many of the McU's best movies, including two of Chris Evans' Captain America films and the last two Avengers entries. When Marvel decided to scrap Kang the Conqueror as the Multiverse Saga's main villain, the studio announced that the Russos would return to the franchise to helm both Avengers: Doomsday — previously titled The Kang Dynasty — and Avengers: Secret Wars. The duo now explain why the latter convinced them to come back.
Speaking with Empire, the Russo Brothers teased Avengers: Secret Wars' story and how they arrived at it. 2025 is set to be a big year for Marvel. After largely taking a year off in 2024 (excepting the casual box office mega-smash that was Deadpool Vs. Wolverine), the MCU is back with three major movies in the coming months: the long-awaited Captain America: Brave New World, misanthropic team-up movie Thunderbolts*, and – at long last – the arrival of Marvel’s first family in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. And that’s just the beginning. The current Marvel slate all leads up to Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027 – an outing not only bringing the return of Robert Downey Jr., this time as Dr. Doom, but also reuniting Marvel with directing duo Joe and Anthony Russo and screenwriter Steven McFeely. The A-team is back in a big way.

Gladiator 2's Box Office Pushed Ridley Scott Past A Major Milestone Only 9 Other Directors Have Done
2024 was a year filled with plenty of great box office successes, ranging from the biggest animated film of all time in Inside Out 2 to the highest-grossing Broadway musical adaptation ever, but one success that may have gone slightly under the radar was the historical epic sequel, Gladiator II. The legacy sequel was directed by Ridley Scott, one of Hollywood's most prolific directors, and its monetary success has earned him a very significant box office status that only a few other directors have managed.
While Gladiator II's reviews were tamer when compared to some of the bigger successes of the year, and fell short of the other half of the "Glicked" phenomenon, the film was an absolute hit, grossing over $430 million during its theatrical run. The film was a boon for many of Gladiator II's cast, bringing their box office scores up quite significantly. However, the addition to...

Gladiator II Box Office (Worldwide): Helps Director Ridley Scott Pass A Remarkable Milestone (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Gladiator II has been performing modestly at the box office but it has now helped Ridley Scott pass a major box office milestone worldwide. The film does not have strongholds like the rest of the other movies, including Wicked and Moana 2. Also, the film reportedly had a colossal budget ranging between $210 and $310 million. Keep scrolling for the deets.
Scott is known for his atmospheric and highly concentrated visual style and is among the highest-grossing directors. He has received several accolades and honors in his life, including being Knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2003. He gained recognition with Alien, which developed into a franchise. Alien: Romulus is the latest entry in the Alien franchise started by Scott. The 2024 movie is the sequel to his Oscar-winning 2000 flick Gladiator. It won five Oscars, including Best Picture.

Gladiator II has helped to propel Ridley Scott past a major box office milestone. Since its release on November 22, Gladiator II has had a modest showing at the global box office. Though losing out to Wicked in the Barbenheimer-like "Glicked" battle, Gladiator II has had several notable box office achievements over the course of its run. This has included becoming the highest-grossing film in Denzel Washington's career, beating out the Equalizer franchise and other notable titles. The film remains in theaters today, where it now competes with newer releases like Nosferatu, Mufasa, and A Complete Unknown.
As per The Numbers, Gladiator II has now helped director Scott reach a major career milestone. All the films that Scott has directed have now reached a cumulative worldwide box office total of $5 billion. The Russo Brothers are some of the most well-known directors today thanks to their involvement in directing several Marvel Cinematic Universe movies that made over a billion at the box office, along with several other movies and TV shows. Likewise, James Cameron is a household name due to his films spanning four decades and numerous genres with great commercial and critical success. Just as Joe and Anthony Russo have gained popularity for their involvement in a beloved superhero franchise, Cameron built his name by directing beloved film series like the original, and best, Terminator movies and the Avatar series, which Cameron will expand further in coming years.

What’s old is new again, as Marvel Studios plans for the future of its cinematic universe. After announcing that Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans would return for surprise roles in Avengers: Doomsday, a new rumor from industry leaker Daniel Richtman suggests Scarlett Johansson could also reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, for the upcoming superhero event film. However, time heals many wounds, and getting the band back together (plus a lucrative payday) could entice Johansson to suit up. While Downey...

The Electric State looks like the most Netflix movie ever made. It’s a sci-fi action dramedy starring Millie Bobby Brown that reportedly cost over $300 million to produce due to Netflix’s talent buyout compensation structure. You can gaze upon all that money in the new trailer the streaming service released Wednesday, which has 53,000 views after three hours at press time.
The film is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, directors of Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and The Gray Man. It stars Mbb with long hair and Chris Pratt with a different hairstyle than he’s ever had before. The film is set in a retro-futurist alternate universe 1994 after a robot uprising ended with humans banishing robots to a sort of open-air prison spanning much of the American West. Brown plays Michelle, a teenage girl who teams up with a nice robot and a disillusioned veteran of the robot...
