One VFX artist freaks out while roasting the CGI spiders in Eight Legged Freaks. The horror comedy premiered in 2002 and follows residents of Prosperity, Arizona, who find that various spiders have become exposed to toxic chemicals, causing them to grow in size. Despite mixed reactions, the film has developed a strong fanbase over the years. It also features a cast that includes Scarlett Johansson and David Arquette, among others.
During Corridor Crew's recent video, VFX artists looked at scenes from Eight Legged Freaks and shared their reactions to the CGI used. In one sequence involving a bike chase, they poked fun at the animation, but added that some of the shots were well-made. When it came to his actual fear of spiders though, Wren appeared uneasy at the mall scene, where they crawled through a hole in the exterior and attacked one of the gates. Check out their responses in the video below,...

The son of actor/director Leo Penn and actress Eileen Ryan, Sean Penn will be keeping up the family tradition this year at Cannes when he premieres Flag Day in Competition. Based on her 2004 memoir, the film follows Jennifer Vogel’s personal story of idolizing her bank robber and conman father. Penn directs and plays the dad character, while—in a startling breakout turn—his daughter Dylan stars as Jennifer, and his son Hopper plays her brother. Flag Day comes after Penn dedicated the past year to the distribution of Covid-19 tests and vaccines through Core (Community Organized Relief Effort), a humanitarian project he founded in 2010 following the Haiti earthquake tragedy. This will be his 11th appearance in Cannes.

Sylvia Miles was the original Sally on the Dick van Dyke Show, and a fixture of New York's entertainment world.
Iconic New York stage and screen scene-stealer Sylvia Miles died at age 94, according to Variety. Miles created a string of incredibly memorable, very New York characters, often with very little screen time. She was on the screen for six minutes in Midnight Cowboy (1969), about five and a half minutes in Farewell, My Lovely (1975), and she was nominated as Best Supporting Actress for both. She only sold two apartments in Wall Street and its sequel Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Miles had three short scenes selling Amy Irving to the pickle guy in Crossing Delancey.
Her starring role in Andy Warhol's Heat, is no less memorable, though criminally under-watched. A take on the classic Sunset Boulevard, as if any of Warhol's movies weren't, Miles played the Gloria Swanson...

Martin Donovan is destined to be forever remembered for his remarkable actor-director partnership with Hal Hartley during indie film’s halcyon days of the early to mid 1990s. In era-defining movies such as Trust, Simple Men and Amateur, Donovan was Hartley’s on-screen simulacrum, a smart, softly spoken man who was simultaneously familiar and enigmatic. While Hartley’s work is sadly not nearly as popular or present as it once was, it’s fitting that Donovan has made his debut feature as a writer and director with Collaborator, a knowing and witty cinematic chamber piece that feels nostalgic for the more culturally sophisticated times of the 1990s.
Donovan, in the kind of role that made him famous, is Robert Longfellow, a playwright whose latest opus is a pale shadow of his previous work and who has left his wife (Melissa Auf der Maur) and child back in New York to...

Singer/songwriter Michael Penn has been making albums for two decades and is sad to see them go. Not only the physical media, but the album as an art form, a concept, a story with two acts. He's not the kind of musician who's excited that you can listen to your favorite mix on your phone. The son of actress Eileen Ryan and once-blacklisted actor/director Leo Penn, brother of Sean Penn and the late Chris Penn, Michael's no stranger to the movie business, but that seems to be the reason he chose to try and avoid it -- at least until 1996, when he relented and began scoring films for director Paul Thomas Anderson. More recently, he's composed the scores for "American Teen" and "Sunshine Cleaning," and contributed three songs to IFC's "Bollywood Hero," so I talked to him about that, what his influences are and what a drag the music industry is.

We’ve already posted what looks like a long promo sales reel for Russell Mulcahy’s “Give’em Hell Malone”, and another kinda-trailer. This, from the looks of it, is the official trailer for the movie, which stars Thomas Jane as a Pi who kills a lot of people, romances a lot of chicks, and drinks a lot of Scotch. This is apparently the trailer that will be making the rounds over at the Cannes Film Festival along with the finished movie, one presumes. Of course you don’t have to go to Cannes to see it. Check it out below. A tough as nails private investigator (Malone) squares off with gangsters and their thugs to protect a valuable secret. Malone goes through hell to protect the information but he dishes some hell as well. Starring Thomas Jane, Ving Rhames, Doug Hutchison, Leland Orser, Elsa Pataky, French Stewart, William Abadie,...

Give ‘em Hell, Malone is a noir throwback film that is going to be premiering at Cannes in a couple of weeks, and we here at Screen Rant have the first trailer for the film [Warning: it's a red-band trailer, strictly for adults only!!!].
The film stars Thomas Jane and Ving Rhames, as a private dick and a gangster respectively, each on the hunt for a suitcase containing a mysterious secret which (if I’ve understood the trailer correctly) will instantly remind noir-lovers of the classic noir film, Kiss Me Deadly.
Star Wars fans pay special attention while you watch the trailer: there’s a little symphonic Easter-egg buried in there just for you guys.
Two things I instantly like about this movie: first, the fact that the guy locked in the trunk of the car says “Suck my Sinatra,” (1:55); second, the side-boob shot of actress Elsa Pataky (Snakes on a Plane) (1:38). Yum.
The lovely Elsa Pataky...

Actor Chris Penn, brother of Sean Penn and star of such films as Reservoir Dogs and Mulholland Falls, was found dead Tuesday at a condominium in Santa Monica; he was 40. Few details were released surrounding Penn's death late Tuesday afternoon, though sources reported there were no signs of foul play, and an autopsy was to be conducted to determine the cause of death. A spokesperson for the Penn family confirmed the actor's passing and released a statement saying that Penn's family "would appreciate the media's respect of their privacy during this difficult time." The son of director Leo Penn and actress Eileen Ryan, Penn was the younger brother of Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn and musician Michael Penn, and began his acting career in the early 80s, appearing in such films as Rumble Fish, All the Right Moves, and Footloose; he appeared alongside his brother in the 1986 film At Close Range. Penn went on to specialize in working-class character roles, achieving fame for his portrayal of Nice Guy Eddie Cabot in Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs as well as such films as Short Cuts, The Funeral (for which he received an Independent Spirit Award nomination), and Mulholland Falls. Most recently, he appeared in the film version of Starsky & Hutch as well as episodes of TV series Entourage and Everwood, and his latest film, The Darwin Awards, was slated for a premiere Wednesday night at the Sundance Film Festival. --Prepared by IMDb Staff ...

Penn family feted with AFI prize
The Penn family was honored by the AFI Associates of the American Film Institute with its Platinum Circle Award at a luncheon at the Regent Beverly Wilshire. The clan was recognized Friday for their creative contributions to the entertainment community. Honored were family matriarch Eileen Ryan Penn; Sean Penn and his wife, actress Robin Wright Penn; singer-songwriter Michael Penn and his wife, singer-songwriter Aimee Mann; and Chris Penn. Leo Penn, the writer-director-actor who headed the family and who died in 1998, was also honored. "Families are sometimes feuding, sometimes fickle, but always there for each other and stronger as one," AFI director and CEO Jean Picker Firstenberg said. "This dynamic cannot be better embodied than the family of Leo and Eileen Penn, and we are here today, Eileen, to honor the incredible talent you nurtured together and shared with us all."...
