She has played Alexandra, Princess of Wales - the future Queen Alexandra (1844-1925) - in three different productions: Edward the King (1975), The Elephant Man (1980) and The Mazarin Stone (1994).

In 2003-04, she appeared - to excellent reviews - as Madame Armfeldt in the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre production of Stephen Sondheim's "A little night music.".

Mother of Daniel Slater and Rebecca Slater.

In 1975, she received the Pye Color Television Award (U.K.) as "Female personality of the year".
