Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Michael Saul began making films as a teenager in the 1970s.
A pioneer in the early 1980's LGBT and Indie film movements, he began working in the San Francisco Bay area as a video artist. Producing a series of experimental films with beautiful musical accompaniment provided by electronic composer Steven M. Miller, Michael found success in film festivals around the world.
In 1991, he began working in Los Angeles and continued producing short films including "Hover", his erotic, gay, vampire thriller that premiered at Los Angeles Outfest and screened at many other film festivals worldwide.
In 2002 Michael began directing his first feature film "True Love" which was released in 2004, followed by "Crush" in 2009. He also directed the award-winning shorts, "Go Go Reject" and "Adults Only", both written, produced and starring Heath Daniels; and his full-length feature film "The Surface" (2015) which had it's world premiere at Frameline San Francisco.
In 2015 Michael began directing and animating work for interactive, VR, Fulldome and other immersive technologies.
Michael lives in Los Angeles where he is also an accomplished painter.
