Rick Schuler(II)

While he was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Rick grew up in France and attended French public school until the age of fourteen. He completed his high school education at a Canadian boarding school in Southern Germany and upon his return to the States, worked for a year at a Pontiac dealership in Wheaton, Illinois, before completing his college education. After a year of employment in sales for a publishing company, he moved to South Bend, Indiana to complete a Masters' Degree at the University of Notre Dame. Following graduation, he taught at an all-girls high school in Sierra Madre, California before beginning his career in the film industry.
He had his start in the world of TV commercials working with directors David Fincher, Michael Bay, Spike Jonze, Simon West, Dominic Sena, David Kellogg, Mark Romanek, Michael Mann, Tony Scott and many others. It was in 1994, when David Fincher sent him the script for Seven, that he began his work in the world of feature films. Since then, he has collaborated with Mr. Fincher on an additional five of his films. Other feature collaborations include work with directors Spike Jonze, Oliver Stone, Doug Liman, Bradley Cooper, Quentin Tarantino and others.
Rick and his team have been nominated for eleven Location Manager/Team Awards and been the winning recipient of six of those. He served two years on the board of directors for the Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) and one year as a location manager adviser to FilmLA, Inc. His present interests include photography for which he has contributed to several magazines, travel, and mentoring upcoming location professionals.
