- She was active in the arts since a young age, having learned painting, dancing and handicrafts at a painting school, called Chitrangshu, in childhood.

- Rituparna is a trained manipuri and odissi dancer. She has a dance troupe called "Bhabna Aaj O Kaal" (Contemporary Thoughts). The troupe performs various dance-dramas based on Rabindranath Tagore such as Shyama, Meghdoot and Mayar Khela. She also runs a media production company called Prism Entertainment.
- Her husband, Sanjay Chakrabarty, is the founder and CEO of MobiApps.
- She is actively involved in the cause of children suffering from Thalassaemia.
- (2000's) Gave birth to her 1st child, a son Ankan Chakrabarty, with her husband Sanjay Chakrabarty.
- Gave birth to her 2nd child at age 39, a daughter Rishona Niya Chakrabarty on May 12, 2011. Child's father is her husband, Sanjay Chakrabarty.
