- Has two siblings - a sister, Karole Sessums, and a brother, J. Kim Sessums. Kevin is the oldest of the three.
- Has published two memoirs: "Mississippi Sissy," published in 2007, which made it onto the NY Times Bestseller List, and "I Left It on the Mountain," published in 2015, which made it onto the NY Times Celebrity Bestseller List.
- Kevin has served as executive editor of Interview Magazine and as a contributing editor for Vanity Fair, Allure, and Parade magazines. - Kevin and his siblings were raised by their maternal grandparents after their parents died one year apart. Their father, Howard Sessums, was killed in a car accident. The following year, their mother, Nancy Sessums, succumbed to esophageal cancer. Kevin was 8, brother Kim was 6, and sister Karole was 4 when they were orphaned.
