Actor Jason Momoa (“Aquaman”) has agreed to appear as DC Comics alien character ‘Lobo’ in the prepping feature “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow”, directed by Craig Gillespie, starring Milly Alcock:
‘Lobo’ was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, debuting in DC Comics' "Omega Men" #3 (June 1983)…
“…as an alien 'interstellar mercenary' and bounty hunter.
Although introduced as a villain, the character was revived as an anti-hero biker in the early 1990's…
… intended as an over-the-top parody of Marvel Comics’ “Wolverine”.
"I have no idea why ‘Lobo’ took off," said Giffen.
"I came up with him as an indictment of the ‘Punisher’, ‘Wolverine’ hero prototype…
“…and somehow he caught on as a poster boy..."

After years of rumors and wishful thinking from fans and Jason Momoa himself, Jason Momoa has been cast to play the Main Man, Lobo.
Jason Momoa posted to his Instagram, an image of a quote from himself back in 2023 during an interview he did with Fandango. The quote reads:
“So Lobo was… I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but he was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role,’” he said at the time. “I mean, listen. If they call and ask me to play him, it’s a f*ck yeah. I haven’t received that call, so I don’t want to put any fake news out there, but if they ever call me and ask to play, or ask me to audition, I’m there.”
The caption was simple: “They called.

It's official: Jason Momoa is returning to the DC Universe. Not as Aquaman, mind you, but as a legendary villain who has been threatening to make his big screen debut for a long, long time. The "Game of Thrones" and "Fast X" star is now officially set to play the baddie Lobo in the upcoming "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow." This news was not only reported by Deadline, but it was also confirmed by the actor personally.
"Supergirl" is one of the core films in the Dcu reboot happening under the leadership of newly-minted DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. It begins on the big screen, in earnest, with Gunn's "Superman" movie next summer, which recently released its first trailer. First announced early last year, "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" is due to begin filming in January 2025 and will seemingly pick up where "Superman" leaves off. Milly Alcock ("House of the Dragon...

Jason Momoa is staying in the DC Studios family.
The actor, who previously appeared as Aquaman in several DC comics films including two standalones, will co-star as Lobo the intergalactic bounty hunter in the upcoming “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.” Milly Alcock plays the title role, with direction being handled by Craig Gillespie. It’s currently scheduled to start shooting next month in London and Iceland and will be released on June 26, 2026.
Momoa had long lobbied to play the character, basically an outer space biker and who was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen in “Omega Men” #3 back in June 1983. Over the years, various attempts at giving the character his own film have been mounted. In 2009 Guy Ritchie took on the project, with Brad Peyton and Joel Silver attempting the project in 2012 (with Dwayne Johnson in talks to play the character). As recently as 2018, Michael Bay looked to make the movie,...

Jason Momoa is going from the ocean deep to the galactic highway when he steps into Lobo’s boots for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Momoa has wanted to play Lobo for years, and his dream is finally coming true. Lobo, created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, debuted in Omega Men #3 circa 1983. Lobo is a Czarnian bounty hunter who rides a motorcycle through the cosmos in search of his marks. Inspired by characters like Punisher and Wolverine, Lobo became DC’s poster boy for violence as fans warmed to his reckless nature and “rude dude” attitude.
This attempt is not the first at bringing the cigar-chomping Czarnian to the silver screen. Previously, Guy Ritchie and Brad Peyton tried to bring Lobo front and center, with Dwayne Johnson eyeing the role in Peyton’s version. Michael Bay also attempted to adapt the character, but the concept stalled before taking to the stars.

James Gunn will soon be launching his version of the DC Universe with David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, and with this will come along multiple other characters that were previously either left in the dark or left unexplored. One of these widely speculated characters includes Lobo as well, the villain widely rumored to be embodied by Jason Momoa.
Corenswet in and as Superman. | @jamesgunn/Ig.
While Momoa has been vocal about his heartiest desire to play this unhinged interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter, nothing has been confirmed about even the character’s debut in this respective rebooted super-verse. But this villain is actually so iconic with some truly scary powers that seeing him face Corenswet’s Man of Steel is all we want to see after this.
Lobo is Scarier Than Fans’ Wildest Imaginations
Of all the comic book characters in comics, perhaps none holds as scary powers as Lobo.

Keith Giffen, the veteran comics author and artist who co-created characters such as DC’s Lobo and the Jamie Reyes version of the Blue Beetle as well as Marvel’s Rocket Raccoon, has died. He was 70.
Giffen’s family announced his death on Facebook Wednesday via a sardonic post pre-written by the comic book writer-artist: “I told them I was sick…Anything not to go to New York Comic Con, Thankx,’ adding “Bwah ha ha ha ha.”
His death was affirmed by longtime collaborator Paul Levitz. “The sad news is now official: Keith Giffen has gone off to create new worlds that are beyond our living reach,” Levitz wrote on Facebook. “Keith was probably the most fertile creative mind of our generation in comics. He had an infinite number of ideas, pouring constantly out.”

One of the most rock n roll characters of the DC Universe, Lobo, gets a shining role in upcoming DC Animation Superman: Man of Tomorrow. Ahead of the digital release of the film on the 24th August, we wanted to provide you with a little insight into DC’s badass bounty hunter.
Character Creation
Lobo’s character was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, first appearing in 1983 in Omega Men #3. In the special feature Lobo: A Natural Force of Chaos attached to the Blu-ray edition of new film Superman: Man of Tomorrow, Lobo is described as the “natural force of chaos in all of us”. His muscular appearance is said to have been inspired by WWE and WWF wrestlers, whilst also portraying him as a metal rocker. The name Lobo roughly translates to “he who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys it” which totally represents his character!

Syfy has set its sights on a DC Comics fan-favorite. Syfy and Warner Horizon Scripted Television confirm they are developing Lobo (working title), a live-action screen version of the intergalactic rogue. A deal is in place for Emmett J. Scanlan, who plays the character of Lobo in Krypton Season 2, to star in the project.
DC Comics fan-favorite Lobo is an indestructible deep-space bounty hunter who looks like a biker version of Beetlejuice, grouses like Wolverine, and has amassed an interstellar body count that would make The Mandalorian envious. In temperament and destructive power, Lobo is steroid-pumped Stich (of Lili & Stich) equipped with Mad Max sensibilities. He’s typically drenched in both sarcasm and blood, sharing many of the profane and lethal attributes of Fox’s Deadpool character.

A couple of months ago, it was reported that DC’s intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo would be coming to the second season of the Syfy series Krypton. We’ve now learned that Emmett J. Scanlan has been cast to take on the iconic role of the DC character. This will be a recurring role for him.
Lobo was created in 1984 by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen. He is a blue-skinned, 7-foot-tall, heavily muscled anti-hero alien who works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter and drives a space-faring motorcycle across the universe. I should probably also mention that he murdered his entire species. He has superhuman strength and is virtually immortal.
I’m not really familiar with Scanlan’s work, but he appeared in Netflix's Safe, opposite Michael C. Hall, and The Fall, with Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan. He was last seen in Guardians of the Galaxy.

During the Comic-Con Panel for the Syfy series Krypton, DC Entertainment announced that the intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo would be coming to the series and that he will be the big bad villain for the upcoming season! They still have yet to cast an actor in the role, but this is certainly going to make the series a lot more interesting. It was definitely a surprise announcement that I wasn't expecting.
It looks like I'm going to have to finally finish watching Season 1. This has been a decent series, it just one of those series that I'm slowly making my way through.

Lobo was created by Keith Giffen and Roger Slifer in the pages of Omega Men back in 1983. The character made the move from generic to a parody of '90s comics, thanks to the work of Giffen, Alan Grant, and Simon Bisley in Lobo: The Last Czarnian.
Lobo is the last of his race, the Czarnians, who murdered all of his fellow Czarnians mostly for the hell of it. He has at various times been contracted to kill Santa Claus, all of his children, criminals, and to find a murderer hiding in a planet-sized brothel by pleasing all of the women there until he can complete his mission. "Transformers" director Michael Bay is interested in directing a live-action feature, adapting DC Comics' comedic, super-powered, inter-stellar mercenary character "Lobo", with a screenplay based on the "Lobo" 1990's comic book run by Keith Giffen and Alan Grant :
Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, the alien Lobo first appeared in DC Comics' "Omega Men" #3 (June 1983), working as a bounty hunter.
"I have no idea why 'Lobo' took off," co-creator Giffen said. "I came up with him as an indictment of the 'Punisher', 'Wolverine', hero prototype and somehow he caught on as a poster boy..."
Initially introduced as a villain, the character evolved into an anti-hero biker and over-the-top parody of various superheroes.
Lobo has extraordinary strength of undefined limits, possessing superhuman durability, able to survive unprotected in deep space and withstand powerful explosive blasts without sustaining injury. An accelerated healing factor enables him to regenerate with efficiency and little pain,...

Prepare to light 1,000 gallons of gasoline on fire because Warner Bros. may be hiring Michael Bay to direct Lobo!
Believe it or not, Michael Bay has never directed a superhero film. Crazy, right? Giant explosions, supernatural abilities, over the top action, seems like it would be right up his alley. This is the final part of my conversation with comics writer Robert Loren Fleming on the tragic backstory and forgotten history of DC’s Thriller comic book series. As I explained last week, this is actually an addendum to my recent article on this 80s cult favorite in TwoMorrow’s Back Issue Magazine.
Thriller was poised to be the next big thing from DC, but it seemed like many forces conspired against it. Despite it all, Thriller achieved a certain status. How did so many things go off the rails? The behind the scenes stories are as fascinating as the story between the covers.
Hazing, Publishing Style
There were some difficult things going on backstage at DC in those days. One of the uglier things was the hazing. It included everything from ripping up freelancers checks to harassing a female worker to the point where she was ready to clobber...

DC's answer to Marvel's Deadpool, Lobo, was thought to be long dead. However, that has all changed as they have now hired a writer to handle the Lobo movie! Come inside to find out who!
Ever since Deadpool was unleashed to the world, back in February, the superhero landscape has changed. In fact, Deadpool is currently over $710 million, globally. This is leading to more and more studios clamoring for R-rated superhero films. With the high demand comes greenlights for comic book characters that, otherwise, wouldn't even be considered. Enter DC's equivalent to Deadpool, Lobo.
Lobo had actually been in the works, a few years ago. They had a director in Brad Peyton (San Andreas) but they never started working on the project. Today that changed when DC announced that they hired Pan and Wonder Woman screenwriter, Jason Fuchs, to write a screenplay for Lobo, from the ground up.

Is Netherrealm bringing DC Comics' tough-talking bastiche to "Injustice: Gods Among Us?"
Eh, probably.
Last month, Netherrealm's Ed Boon tweeted what's looking now like a hint that the Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen creation will be making his way into the Elseworlds fighting game. The image below only serves to confirm it.
For those of you not following mainstream comics back in the 90's, Lobo served as a parody of the violent antiheroes of the decade, his origin story having him slaughtering the population of his planet before knocking around the known universe on his space motorcycle. Typically, this unstoppable killing machine would come into contact (and conflict) with the heroes of the Dcu because who wants to deal with a sociopathic albino space man with no table manners?
No word on when the character will make his way into the game or what kind of pricing will be in place,...

Last spring, it seemed it was all about Lobo, that bad-ass DC Comics character created in 1984 by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen. Lobo was a Czarnian (originally Velorpian) bounty hunter who, as a nearly indestructible anti-hero, drives a space-faring motorcycle across the cosmos in search of his next target.
And he was expected to hit the big screen at some point under the direction of Brad Peyton (Journey 2: The Mysterious Island). And Dwayne Johnson was rumored to be circling the role as the eponymous "main man." But it appears momentum on Lobo has dissipated at Warner Bros.

In the wake of Marvel Studios upcoming production of a live-action "Guardians Of The Galaxy" big screen feature, Warners is looking at actor Dwayne Johnson to play the lead in the developing space adventure "Lobo", based on DC Comics' comedic, super-powered, inter-stellar mercenary character.

In late May we heard the rumour that Dwayne Johnson may play “He-Who-Devours-Your-Entrails-And-Thoroughly-Enjoys-It.” Following up with our coverage of the big-screen adaptation of DC Comics’ Lobo, produced by Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman, we hear word straight from the wrestler-turned-actor.
Via his Twitter feed, Johnson tweeted a confirmation of his casting as Lobo, the intergalactic bounty hunter:
Writer-director Brad Peyton worked with Johnson before in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and Peyton will be writing and directing Lobo as well. Seems like a perfect fit, no?
Lobo was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, and debuted in issue #3 of Omega Men back in 1983. The character was originally an interstellar alien mercenary and bounty hunter, and made a comeback in the 90s as an anti-hero biker.
No production or release dates have been announced for Lobo.

The fine folks at Cinema Blend (who follow The Rock on twitter for workout tips and accidentally stumbled on this movie news) are reporting that Dwayne Johnson is working with Joel Silver and director Brad Peyton (Journey 2) to make a movie adaptation of the DC comic “Lobo” happen. The character, created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, is a bounty hunter with a bad attitude meant to be a play on The Punisher and Wolverine. He’s also often blue and might represent a solid challenge/opportunity for some great make-up work. The bottom line though? He’s a brute, and he’s built like a professional wrestler, so it’s fortunate that there’s one out there with some acting chops and personality. This isn’t a new project by any means, but it’s definitely a gutsy one that, if made, would hopefully have the bite necessary to be satisfying. At...

It has been two years since we heard anything on the proposed big-screen adaptation of the DC Comics series Lobo. It's been a few years now since Warner Brothers first started trying to set up a movie based on Lobo, the cult favourite DC Comics character created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen. Guy Ritchie was attached to direct back in 2009 but eventually bowed out in order to focus on his Sherlock Holmes reboot. Since then the project has been floating in limbo, and I think most of us just assumed it was dead. I mean, Lobo really hasn't been big since the '90s and I don't think very many people were clamoring for a big screen adaptation in the first place. This week, however, it would appear that Lobo is back on track with a brand new director: Brad Peyton, the guy who just did Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. Are you fraggin' kidding me? The success of Journey 2: The Mysterious Island has clearly opened some doors for director Brad Peyton, and not just those leading towards a sequel. With a bona fide hit on his hands, he’s being offered various gigs and has clutched one tight to his directing bosom, with Warner Bros. setting him up to direct a movie based on DC Comics’ iconic troublemaker Lobo. The greasy, long-haired and – oh, yes – interstellar type first appeared in the pages of Omega Man issue 3 way back in 1983, birthed by creators Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen as a riff on the likes of Wolverine. The blue-skinned, Kiss-styled goon cropped up from time to time as a tough nut villain, though he was rarely well used. But he saw a real revival in the 1990s, when he was dragged out of footnote limbo, dusted off and re-imagined as a bounty-hunter.Peyton is not the...

Rejoice, fans of the Main Man! Three years after Guy Ritchie first made noise about directing a live-action Lobo movie, based on the D.C. comic book character, Warner Bros. has finally decided to follow up on the property by handing it over to Brad Peyton. Peyton, coming off the hit “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” with Dwayne Johnson and Josh Hutcherson, will write and direct the movie. Based on the D.C. comic book character, Lobo is a white-faced (see pic below) anti-hero (okay, he’s mostly just a selfish, arrogant, violent douchebaggey dude) who rides the D.C. spaceways on his intergalactic hog (re: bike) working as a bounty hunter. Thus far in his feature career, director Brad Peyton has found himself making movies for little kids. The filmmaker started in 2010 with the dreadful Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, and just a few months ago, his sophomore effort, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, found its way into theaters. Having seen both of those films, I must admit that I'm scratching my head over the news that Peyton has been brought on to both helm a film based on the DC Comics character Lobo. Deadline says that Warner Bros. is giving the project another go and in addition to having Peyton direct, he will also re-write an existing script. A few years back Guy Ritchie was hired to guide the project into development, however, he was forced to abandon his plans so that he could make Sherlock Holmes 2. The cinematic Marvel-dc "arms race" is a bit of an illusion, since Marvel has leased their properties to many other studios, and DC's characters all exist underneath the Warner Bros. banner. Still, WB is smart enough to know that superheroes sell right now, and with the departure of "Harry Potter," the end of the Chris Nolan Batman films, and a final "The Hangover" hitting next summer, they're clearly hard-up for franchises right now. Which is why DC and the WB are partnering to bring "The Flash" "Wonder Woman" "Lobo" to the big screen, with the help of the visionary auteur behind "Cats And Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore."

Who is Lobo? Lobo is a Czarnian, he is last of his race because he fragged them all. He is the universe's best bounty hunter. Lobo has exceptional strength and fortitude. He enjoys nothing better than mindless violence and intoxication. Killing is an end in itself, He is arrogant and self-centered, focusing almost solely on his own pleasures, although he proudly lives up to his word. Physically, Lobo resembles a chalk-white human male with blood-red pupilless eyes surrounded by black eye shadow-like patches.
