He moved back to England temporarily in 2005, and lived in a flat in Chelsea, London with third wife, Scotland. Then moved back to the States in September 2008.

He had two daughters from his first marriage to Nikki (Chandrika Squire and Camille, born in the 1970s), a step daughter (Carmen Squire) from Nikki's previous marriage, a son with Melissa (Cameron, born in early 2000) and a daughter with Scotland (Xilan, born in December 2008).

He recorded a choral Christmas album in 2007, titled 'Chris Squire's Swiss Choir'.

He was the only member of Yes to appear on every album released under the Yes name.

His first wife, singer Nikki, formed her own band, Esquire, in the 1980s. Chris helped them with their self-title debut album, which was recorded at their home (New Pipers, Surrey). She also sang on Chris' 1975 solo album, 'Fish Out of Water' (also recorded at New Pipers).

He was Fish's favourite bass player.

His father was a cab driver and his mother was a secretary for an estate agent.

When he was a child, he joined the church choir at St Andrew's in Kingsbury as a treble.

In 1964, when he was a student on the last day before the summer holidays, his headmaster suspended him for having his hair too long and was given to him two shillings and sixpence to have it cut. Instead, he went home and never returned.

In 1965, he worked selling guitars at Boosey & Hawkes shop in Regent Street. He used the staff discount offer to purchase his trademark; a Rickenbacker bass 4001.

As a youngster, he took a liking to Lena Horne and Ella Fitzgerald records belonging to his father, though his main interest was church music.

The bassists John Entwistle, Jack Bruce, Larry Graham, Bill Wyman and Paul McCartney was his early influences.

He was a regular at the now-defunct Marquee and Speakeasy clubs.

In 1968, he met Jon Anderson, a worker at a bar back, who had not found success as a singer. The two found they shared common musical interests including Simon & Garfunkel and some vocal harmonies.

His nickname "Fish" was given by his former bandmate Bill Bruford, due to his long bathing. Coincidentally, he was a Pisces sign.

During the band's formative years Squire was frequently known for his lateness, a habit that members often complained about. Because of this, he would frequently drive at unsafe speeds to get to gigs on time, once causing an accident on the way to a gig in West Germany after he fell asleep at the wheel, although nobody was injured.

In 2011, a species of fossil fish was named "Tarkus Squirei" in Squire's honour, referencing his nickname.

Squire died on the same day as his greatest influence John Entwistle, in a difference of 13 years.
