- Don Stannard was born in 1916 in Westcliffe-on-Sea, Essex, England, UK. He was an actor, known for Dick Barton, Detective (1948), Dick Barton at Bay (1950) and Dick Barton Strikes Back (1949). He died on July 9, 1949 in Cookham Dean, Berkshire, England, UK.
- Killed on the way home from cast wrap party for Dick Barton at Bay (1950). Plans for a further sequel, "Dick Barton In Africa" were consequently shelved.
- RADA-trained light leading man, the son of a banker. Stannard advanced to the limelight after being spotted by MGM chief Louis B. Mayer who was visiting England at the time. He then appeared in a few British-based MGM productions, before his career was put hold due to wartime service in the Royal Navy. He re-emerged after his five-year stint, starring as tough secret agent Dick Barton in a trio of films under the banner of Hammer studios. The series died with Stannard's own tragic demise in a car accident on July 9 1949.
- In 1937, alongside his female counterpart Barbara Allen, a 21 year-old Stannard featured as 'The Perfect Briton' in an instructional health film from Gaumont British. The two were specially selected by members of the National Advisory Council for Physical Training and Recreation.
