Lyuben Nikolov Stanev is a Bulgarian doctor and writer . He was born on December 4, 1924 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. In 1949, he graduated the Faculty of Medicine at the Plovdiv State University, and then worked as a military doctor. He became one of the founders and a Chairman of the Union of Writers Physicians in Bulgaria and a Vice president of the International Union of Writers Doctors, a member of UNESCO . In 1953, he entered into Boyana Film Studios, where he worked as editor, chief editor and writer . In 1966, he became the winner of " Golden Rose " Festival in Varna for the film " King and General " and " Anvil or Hammer ." He won the medal "Cyril and Methodius" I degree in 1974 and Grade II in 1978, and a medal " People's Republic of Bulgaria " Grade II (1984). In the same year he was honored with Dimitrov's Prize . In 1997, he became the first winner of the prize for literature " Dimitar Dimov ". Lyuben Stanev is an author of more than 30 books of short stories , novellas and novels and a screenwriter of 15 feature films. He died on December 18, 2009 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
