- Naoko Takeuchi was born on March 15, 1967 in Kofu, Japan. She is a writer, known for Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (2003), Sailor Moon Eternal (2021) and Sailor Moon (1992). She has been married to Yoshihiro Togashi since January 6, 1999. They have two children.
- SpouseYoshihiro Togashi(January 6, 1999 - present) (2 children)
- Originally wanted to kill all of the main characters at the end of the first Sailor Moon manga arc but her editor wouldn't let her do that since it was a girls series.
- Was in the manga & astronomy clubs in high school, which provided her w/ background knowledge to build up the extensive mythologies for her works.
- Much of her work's based on aspects from her life.
- Based her "Sailor Moon" protagonist Tsukino Usagi on her teenage self in her teenage years: scatterbrained and dreamy, but bighearted & romantic. She also wears an odango style, something Takeuchi did in college for good luck. Similarly, she based the Tsukino family on her own: she had a devoted but busy father named Kenji, a loving but nagging mother named Ikuko & a bratty younger brother named Shingo.
- Served as a shrine maiden at the Shiba Daijingu Shrine during college. She made her Sailor Moon character Rei Hino a shrine maiden based on this experience.
- I really wanted to write a story with a sexy girl, a good-looking guy, some romance, video games, and cute school uniforms! Of course Bunny [Usagi/Serena Tsukino] is strong, too... we've got to be strong for our boys! Right, girls?
