Exclusive: Jim Belushi and Christina Ochoa have joined Canadian director and action specialist James Mark’s deadly combat drama Fight Another Day, as the production continues to shoot on location in the Greater Toronto Area, through to early 2023.
The pair join previously announced cast members Martin Kove, Kevin Nash and Eric Johnson as well as UFC legends Ken Shamrock and Chuck “the iceman” Liddell.
Johnson stars as tough cop Ryan Taylor, who is transported to a dystopian future, where he is forced to enter a deadly combat tournament in order to return to his past.
Belushi will play a low-level security guard with plans to retire when he decides to help Animal Kingdom star Ochoa’s character Isabell with her scheme to get Ryan back.
The project is produced by Bruno Marino at film and TV company High Star Entertainment with Mark’s Kemodo Entertainment.

The teams have been announced;
Newcastle: Krul, Simpson, Steven Taylor, Coloccini, Ryan Taylor, Lovenkrands, Cabaye, Tiote, Gutierrez, Obertan, Best.
Subs: Soderberg, Smith, Ba, Marveaux, Sammy Ameobi, Vuckic, Ferguson.
Fulham: Schwarzer, Briggs, Hughes, Hangeland, Baird, Dempsey, Murphy, Sidwell, Donegan, Dembele, Kasami.
Subs: Etheridge, Kelly, Johnson, Senderos, Gecov, Etuhu, Frei.
Referee: Kevin Friend (Leicestershire)
So clearly Shola Ameobi wasn’t fit which is a big loss and it’s Best over Ba that gets the nod. Obertan does end up front as support… with Lovenkrands again on the right. Interestingly no defender on the bench, Pardew picking Alan Smith and Shane Ferguson instead and no place at all for Dan Gosling.
Match kicks off at 1pm.
(I am a lifelong Newcastle United supporter so expect my match previews to be heavy slanted towards the Geordies as they are written for the like-minded).
After a bright start to the league campaign where four...

Today may prove to be a significant one for transfer dealings in the North East as British newspapers report that Psv Eindhoven left back Erik Pieters is in England to discuss a move to Newcastle United, whilst free transfer listed Joey Barton has remarked on Twitter that he will decide today on his future.
On the Barton situation first, the 28 year midfielder updated his twitter followers just minutes ago with;
“Going to have to make a decision today, its only fair to all parties.”
Barton was in London on Wednesday to discuss a free transfer move to Queens Park Rangers and to undergo a medical but has stated he doesn’t want to leave Newcastle United (or his big pay deal of course) but I imagine it’s more down to the length of contract and the money being offered, plus the thought in his head he can attract the...

A thunderous 20 yard strike late in extra time from substitue Sammy Ameobi pushed Premier League club Newcastle United over the line against their tricky League Two opposition Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park tonight but for a long, long time… it looked like they were going to crash out of the League cup in the 2nd round like many of their peers this week.
Thankfully there was no repeat of the embarrassing visitors supporters reaction to Shola’s 19 year old brother’s winning strike against Darlington in a pre-season friendly last night month when they lived up to their threats “if Sammy scores, we’re on the pitch” for the enthusiastic and willing youngster who the Toon Army have quickly found a fondness for.
Scunthorpe had started the game brightly. Highly organised, energetic and with an urgency to close down the visitors and not let them play football. It really shook...

Three years ago after only eight months in charge, the ‘Messiah’ Kevin Keegan who similarly had gained four points in two games against tough competition (a draw away at Man Utd and a win at home to Bolton) resigned from his post as Newcastle United manager shortly after a League Cup victory against Coventry. The reason? Because he felt he had no power over the running of his team.
The club had sold their biggest asset James Milner to Aston Villa from underneath his nose and the management had decided to re-use the cash on two players that Keegan didn’t want bringing to the club – young Spaniard Xisco for £5.7 million (who is inexplicably still on the books and is under-going his third loan spell away from the club as Newcastle struggle to overload him) and Uruguayan midfielder Nacho Gonzalez who played two games before being sent home. Despite the good start to the season,...

Like an old friend you haven’t seen for a while, the Premiership is back. Last week was a novelty, stirring the old emotions, nostalgia in the air, recounting those glorious moments from seasons passed. Now, already it’s taken for granted, consumed once again by the utter banality that is the routine of existence. Still, we love it all the same right?
On that cheerful note, here is the weekend round up.
The first game to kick off the day was every pie seller’s dream, the Tyne-Wear derby. It was the 145th time these two had met in a competitive fixture, not particularly anything in the way of a landmark number but still, I’m never one to pass up on the sharing of pointless trivia. Sunderland have spent the majority of the Premiership years living in the shadow of their once (sort of) illustrious (kind of) neighbours,...

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce called it the ’90 minute panic attack’ and few supporters of either Tyne/Wear clubs would disagree with him as the fierce North East rivals played out an incredibly tense affair at the Stadium of the Light earlier this afternoon. In the end, it was the visitors Newcastle United that once again shaded one of football’s biggest derbies (despite the decision to once again not screen it live on television) in a close affair that the losing team, if they had showed more composure with their threatening possession & chances, perhaps should have got all three points.
The eventual breakthrough that proved to be the single deciding goal came two minutes after the hour mark when make-do Newcastle left back Ryan Taylor reminded his club how useful he can be with set pieces, swooping in a deadly free kick from the corner of the 18 year box that...

The half-hearted football and frustrating lack of entertainment on show at St. James Park in the no scoring first live televised match of the 20th Premier League season was overshadowed by a scuffle and a disgraceful display by Newcastle’s Joey Barton which led to the sending off of Arsenal’s biggest summer signing.
Arsene Wenger had included Ivorian forward Gervinho – his £10.5 million acquisition from Lille Osc in a starting line up that was missing Barcelona bound Cesc Febregas and Samir Nasri, the latter who is rumoured to be completing a big money transfer himself this week to Manchester City, and also the unfit Jack Wilshire. But it will be a debut to forget for Arsenal’s new big hope, sent off on his otherwise impressive Premiership debut for slapping Barton in the face seemingly with the power of a sledgehammer.
