Back at the end of 2023, we heard that the creative team behind the stalker thriller Blind, its still-unreleased sequel Pretty Boy, the slasher That’s a Wrap, and the upcoming horror film Garden of Eden, had wrapped production on Brute 1976, a horror project described as an homage to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes. We’re waiting to hear when we’re going to have the chance to see that film – but while we wait, it has been announced that filming has wrapped on a follow-up called Brute 1986! With the project heading into post-production, the first batch of images have been revealed, along with the news that Tokio Hotel lead singer Bill Kaulitz makes his film debut in the slasher movie.

Breaking Glass Pictures is set to release the final installment of Chad Ferrin’s ambitious Lovecraftian trilogy, Unspeakable: Beyond the Wall of Sleep, on 4 March 2025. The film, which delves into cosmic terror and psychological despair, stars Edward Furlong as Ambrose London, a world-renowned oneirologist tasked with investigating a disturbing case at Arkham Asylum. When his experimental Dream Machine inadvertently opens a portal to an alien force determined to annihilate the world, London is plunged into a harrowing battle against time and his own unraveling sanity.
Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s enduring mythos, Ferrin’s latest work is a bold fusion of supernatural horror and visceral, practical effects. Alongside Furlong, the film features powerhouse performances from Robert Miano (Donnie Brasco) and Susan Priver, with a supporting cast that includes Bai Ling, Ginger Lynn, Lew Temple, Steve Railsback, and Cyril O’Reilly. This chilling chapter promises to push the boundaries of cosmic horror...

Breaking Glass Pictures has announced they’re handing the worldwide release of Unspeakable: Beyond the Wall of Sleep, the last chapter in a trilogy of horror films from director Chad Ferrin. Ferrin’s projects, including this one, have been direct adaptions of H.P. Lovecraft stories.
Ambrose London is a renowned oneirologist who handles the toughest cases. They don’t come tougher than this latest one…he’s been summoned to an asylum to check out a seemingly possessed patient. Of course in movies in this “seemingly” means “definitely,” but not in the manner one would think.
The assumption is that the spirit is that of a 122-year-old colonial peasant. London has a special instrument he calls the “Dream Machine” that can extract these spirits from their host bodies. But it turns out it’s not a ghost at all….it’s an alien life form bent on destroying the world,...

Exclusive: Bill Kaulitz has swapped the concert stage for the big screen by landing his first film role.
The Tokio Hotel frontman, whose band is among Germany’s most successful music acts, has landed a role in Brute 1986, an indie pic inspired by 1980s slasher movies.
In the film, Leather Kobra, a Sunset Strip-style glam metal band films a music video in an abandoned Western town in the middle of nowhere. Ignoring ‘no trespassing’ signs, the rebellious group have no idea they are being watched by the Birdy family, who will meet them with a “level of brutality that is as vicious as it is creative,” according to producers.
Starring alongside Kaulitz are Gigi Gustin (Stiletto), Sarah French (Blind), Pancho Moler (3 From Hell), Lew Temple (The Devil’s Rejects), Heather Grace Hancock (Wicked City) and Dazelle Yvette (Garden of Eden).

Underdog sports movies have slowly died down after they became such a huge sensation in the early 2000s. The reason, of course, is the narrative structure that said films follow. There’s always the hero’s journey somewhere in there while also being about the characters who shape the story for them. With time, the trope of this underdog became redundant, but few films every now and then were able to reconfigure or at least reaffirm why such stories are always important. They are rousing, relatable and inspiring. They give us hope in times when we find ourselves corned by our big ambitions. Ty Roberts’ “You Gotta Believe” is not one of those movies, though.
I mean, it does have all the usual tropes that you find in such films. It stars Luke Wilson and Greg Kinner as the co-coaches and dads of kids who are part of a little league baseball team.

The Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox is home to a variety of unique horror content, from originals and exclusives to cult classics and documentaries. With such a rapidly-growing library, there are many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Here are five recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.
Evil Dead Trap
Mix up your January Giallo viewing with Evil Dead Trap. Although its title invokes Evil Dead – and there’s a bit of Sam Raimi-esque kineticism in the camerawork – the 1988 Japanese film shares more in common with the lurid Italian thrillers: a mysterious killer, elaborate murder set pieces, gruesome violence, stylish cinematography, a dreamlike atmosphere, and an infectious synth score.
Upon receiving a graphic snuff film, a late-night TV host (Miyuki Ono) rallies a small production crew to investigate its origins at an abandoned military base. The story plays out in a manner that could be considered a slasher, but...

Two years have passed since the release of musician / filmmaker Rob Zombie’s latest film, his update of the classic sitcom The Munsters, and we still don’t know what he’s going to make next (although we do have a wish list of movies we’d like to see him make). While we anxiously wait to hear what Zombie’s going to do next, we have decided to take a look back at all of the movies he has made, from House of 1000 Corpses to The Munsters, to put together a list of some of the Best Scenes from Rob Zombie movies to date.

In Seven Cemeteries, a recent parolee (Danny Trejo) gets a Mexican witch to resurrect his old posse so that they can help him save a woman's ranch from a ruthless drug lord.
The movie also stars Sal Lopez, Samantha Ashley, Efren Ramirez, Vincent M. Ward, Lew Temple, Richard Esteras, and Maria Canals-Barrera, and is every bit as delightfully bonkers as it sounds.
You don't need us to tell you that Trejo is an icon and his many credits include the likes of Con Air, Machete, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Breaking Bad, and Dusk till Dawn. Earlier this week, we had the good fortune to sit down with Danny to discuss his role as Bravo in this action-packed supernatural romp from filmmaker John Gulager.

Almost twenty years ago, viewers of the Project Greenlight reality TV series got to watch as John Gulager was hired to direct the creature feature Feast for a producing team that included Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Wes Craven. Feast went over well enough that Gulager was brought back to helm back-to-back sequels, Feast II: Sloppy Seconds and Feast III: The Happy Finish. Since then, he has gone on to direct Piranha 3Dd, Zombie Night, and Children of the Corn: Runaway. His latest movie is the action thriller Seven Cemeteries, which was just given a theatrical and digital release today, October 11th, and on Amazon it’s available to rent for the price of $6.99 or purchase for $14.99. "Save this lady's farm – job's done." Quiver Distr. has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror comedy called Seven Cemeteries, made by filmmaker John Gulager (a Project Greenlight winner who also made Feast and Piranha 3Dd previously). You Gotta Believe stars Luke Wilson and Greg Kinnear as the coaches of an underdog Little League baseball team. This rag-tag group makes it to the Little League World Series in this semi-uplifting sports movie based on a true story. Unfortunately, You Gotta Believe doesn't transcend or subvert the well-worn genre, opting to tell a disorganized narrative that doesn't develop its characters enough to earn its climactic ending. Directed by Ty Roberts and written by Lane Garrison, You Gotta Believe will likely be a blip on the radar for audiences and the actors in the film.

A true-crime thriller based on events in Florida during the winter of 1978, it unfolds over 24 hours and centers on a serial killer in the lead-up to his ultimate, deranged killing spree.
“Presenting a harrowing and unsettling portrayal of the twisted mind of a notorious murderer, Pinn also explores the devastating consequences of his violent actions on the victims and survivors alike,” FrightFest wrote out of its International Premiere.
Jeremy London (Mallrats) co-stars alongside genre veterans Lisa Wilcox (A Nightmare on Elm Street 4), Susan Lanier (The Hills Have Eyes), Lew Temple (The Devil’s Rejects), Eileen Dietz (The Exorcist), Nicky Whelan (Halloween II), and Kathleen Kinmont...

We have an extremely exciting July lined up for Screambox users looking for some horror fireworks.
Highlights include the rarely seen Walking After Midnight: The Making of Survival of the Dead, a full-length film documenting the making of George A Romero’s zombie classic, as well as the ultra gory, must-see serial killer slasher The Black Mass, and religious anthology Body Parts.
The month is jam-packed with quality films, such as:
Drawing comparisons to The Witch, from Bloody Disgusting and Music Box, comes German gothic folk tale Hagazussa curses Screambox on July 12. Hailed by The Hollywood Reporter as “a spellbinding audiovisual symphony,” the film earned a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Go behind the scenes of George A. Romero‘s final film with Walking After Midnight: The Making of Survival of the Dead exclusively on Screambox July 26. The feature-length documentary follows the master of horror’s Survival of the Dead from production to premiere.

"There's nothing that makes me feel better than watching ya'll play ball." "But we're awful." Well Go has revealed the official trailer for a kids baseball movie called You Gotta Believe, a cheesy uplifting tale of a true story of a Little League team in 2002. This one is set to hit theaters in late August in just a few months - right around when school starts back up again. Based on the inspiring true story: after dedicating the season to a teammate's ailing father, a group of underdogs from Fort Worth, Texas, takes its Cinderella run all the way to a record-breaking showdown in the 2002 Little League World Series. This baseball movie "tells the heartwarming story of a group of young boys who, after a teammate's father is diagnosed with cancer, really banded together and learned to play the game they loved for a cause much greater than themselves." From Texas filmmaker Ty Roberts,...

The Black Mass, the title of actress Devanny Pinn’s directorial debut is not, as one might guess, a reference to a Satanic ritual. It’s the description one of the survivors gave of the man who, across one long night in 1978, attacked four of her sorority sisters, killing two of them as well as attacking a random woman he encountered nearby.
That man was Ted Bundy. That doesn’t mean that The Black Mass is a typical true-crime film or even a straightforward slasher film. Pinn and co-writers Eric Pereira and Brandon Slagle keep the killer in the background figuratively and literally for much of the film.
While he is in almost every scene, or the scenes are shot from his perspective, for the...

Professional wrestler Chris Jericho, who had a cameo in Terrifier 2 and will be returning for Terrifier 3, is executive producing the film and will also have a key supporting role in it.
Self Storage tells the story of a heroin-addicted father and his son who accidentally lock themselves inside a self-storage unit. Surviving will depend on a battle with demons both real and manufactured by drug withdrawal. Temple will be playing the lead character, a guy named Johnny Fitzgerald. Earlier this month, a serial killer thriller called Squealer was given a theatrical and digital release. You can watch the trailer for that one Here. Squealer drew inspiration from the story of Robert Pickton, a Canadian pig farmer who was charged with killing 26 women (but claimed to have killed 49). He would feed the bodies of his victims to the pigs. Just a couple weeks after Squealer made its way out into the world, another serial killer thriller inspired by the Pickton case has arrived in theatres, and you can watch the trailer for this one, which is called Pig Killer, in the embed above.
Pig Killer is currently playing in the following theatres:
Laemmle LA
Film Noir Brooklyn
Reeding Berkeley
Vancouver – Van City Oaks Cinema Center
It will be receiving a VOD and Blu-ray release next week, on November 21st. Copies are available for pre-order on Amazon.

"Is any of this real at all?!" Gravitas has revealed an official trailer for an indie supernatural thriller titled Impuratus, from filmmaker Mike Yurinko. The title is, obviously enough, a Latin word meaning "defiled, infamous, abandoned, vile." Always using mysterious Latin words is a trope with these demonic thrillers. A police detective Clayton Douglas is summoned to a remote hospital to hear a mysterious Civil War veteran's outrageous death-bed confession that forces him to consider the supernatural. With Sister Rose providing spiritual aid, Clayton is transported back in time as he uncovers the horrifying truth behind his possession. Tom Sizemore stars as Det. Douglas, with Jody Quigley, Lew Temple, Robert Miano, Silvia Spross, and Airen DeLaMater. This is a pretty wild concept – about a man alive for hundreds of years (and not a vampire) – but will the film actually be any good? Doesn't look like it in this trailer, though you never know.

Exclusive: Ryan Donowho (The O.C.) is set to topline Art of a Hit (fka Excelsis), an indie psychological horror film directed by Gaelan Draper that will begin shooting in France this month under a SAG Interim Agreement. Rounding out the cast are Rob Raco (Riverdale), Charlie Saxton (Hung), Tim Jo (This Is Us), Allie MacDonald (Under the Silver Lake), James Earl (White Men Can’t Jump), and David Valdes (Speechless). Set in 2003, the movie follows a bygone rock band as they journey to a 1000-year-old French chateau to record with a reclusive super-producer in hopes of rebooting their career. When a filmmaker takes on a story based on the crimes committed by a real serial killer, they have to walk a fine line. If they cross that line, it can feel disrespectful to the victims… and can even seem like they’re glorifying the killer. That’s not something Devanny Pinn intends to do with her feature directorial debut a 1970s serial killer tale called Black Mass. Speaking with Rue Morgue, she revealed that Black Mass focuses on the victims rather than the killer.
Inspired by real events, Black Mass is set over a 24-hour period in Florida during the winter of 1978 when college girls were being stalked by a serial killer. Eric Pereira and Brandon Slagle wrote the screenplay. After making The Third Saturday in October Part V, the fifth entry in a non-existent series, what do you do for a follow-up? If you’re writer/director Jay Burleson you make The Third Saturday in October and give your faux franchise a starting point.
After a text crawl telling us what we’re about to see is based on a true story we launch into the story of serial killer Jakkariah “Jack” Harding who we see meeting his fate in the electric chair. Witnessing his execution are Ricky Dean Logan and Vicki Newton both of whom lost loved ones to Harding.
Unfortunately when they go to the cemetery to see him put six feet under they see something much worse.

Among other distinctions, Smile was also the first original horror title to repeat at No. 1 at domestic box office since 2016.
Said Paramount Pictures president & CEO Brian Robbins, “Smile’s breakthrough success is a testament to Parker’s unique and fresh filmmaking, and we are thrilled that he will make Paramount his home.”
Added Paramount Pictures Motion Picture Group co-presidents Michael Ireland and Daria Cercek, “Parker knows how to keep people on the edge of their seat and we’re happy that we get to keep scaring audiences together.”
“I am honored and thrilled to be joining the Paramount family.

Parker Finn, the filmmaker behind 2022’s biggest horror hit, Smile, has signed a multiyear, first-look deal with Paramount Pictures.
Paramount distributed Smile, which Finn wrote and directed, with the movie grossing over $216 million worldwide. Among the movie’s distinctions, other than creeping people out with scary smiles, was being the first original horror title to hold the No. 1 position at the domestic box office for two weeks since 2016.
Lips are sealed as far as deal details go, but Parker is expected to write, produce and direct features in the horror genre. The studio would love a Smile sequel but it’s not clear what Finn’s next movie will be.
“Smile’s breakthrough success is a testament to Parker’s unique and fresh filmmaking, and we are thrilled that he will make Paramount his home,” said Paramount president and CEO Brian Robbins in a statement.
