Pinnacle Peak Pictures is bringing a slate of faith-based films to the Cannes market, including a new installment in the “God’s Not Dead” franchise.
Entitled “God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust,” the film will be released theatrically in the U.S. this fall, but, like the rest of Pinnacle’s slate, foreign territories are available to buyers. The new “God’s Not Dead” film follows the series’ protagonist, Rev. David Hill (played once again by David A.R. White), who, with the help of a skilled political strategist, runs for political office on a platform of preserving “religious freedom” and healing divisions. The cast also includes Dean Cain, who appeared in the first film in the franchise and is best known for “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” as well as Isaiah Washington (“Grey’s Anatomy”) and Ray Wise (“X-Men: First Class”).

Who would have guessed? Everything But The Girl have returned in one of the year’s most surprising—and welcome—comebacks. The married London duo of Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt quit making music together in 2000, taking time to raise their family while working separately. Fuse is their first collaboration since 1999’s underrated gem Temperamental, which topped off the amazing Nineties trilogy they began with Amplified Heart and Walking Wounded. But Everything But The Girl hit home with their trademark style of ghostly electro-pop, with Thorn’s melancholy voice floating through the glitchy beats.

Like many people, musicians Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn found themselves in isolation during the pandemic, conjuring up memories of sharing space with strangers on a dancefloor. The time spent indoors would eventually lead the pair, who began releasing music in the Eighties as Everything But the Girl, to find the creative spark that would become their new album, Fuse, out April 21st. The group’s first official release in 24 years.

"Doing what I cannot do, Father… This team… is yours." This looks terrible, but at least it's nice to make fun of it. A Faith Based Films company has released a trailer for a sports film called Running the Bases, opening in theaters in September. Let's state the facts: this is religious propaganda designed to corrupt and coerce people into becoming more devout. The story follows a small-town baseball coach who gets the offer to coach a successful high school team, but gets in trouble for mixing religion with coaching. It's an obvious response to the real incident in Texas regarding prayer during games, but the bias here is so strong and so revolting I can smell the stink through the screen. Starring Brett Varvel, Gigi Orsillo, Todd Terry, and Cameron Arnett. As a movie site covering new releases, I think it's important to clearly label this kind of religious...

The singularly idiosyncratic casting of Charlotte Rampling and Willie Nelson as long-married ex-vaudevillians who operate a combination trailer park, horse ranch, and performance venue could be enough of a novelty factor to attract some curiosity seekers to “Waiting for the Miracle to Come.” But the movie itself, a deliberately paced fantasia of remembrance and reconciliation, is likely to divide viewers into disparate camps of the enchanted and the enervated in a modest digital release from Spotlight Pictures.
Filmed four years earlier on locations in and around Nelson’s ranch in Spicewood, Texas — including the preserved set for a fictional Western town constructed for “Red Headed Stranger,” the 1986 film based on Nelson’s platinum-selling album — “Waiting for the Miracle to Come” is the first dramatic feature written and directed by Lian Lunson, previously best known for such musical documentaries as “Willie Nelson: Down Home,” “Leonard Cohen: I’m Your Man,...

Surprise surprise, we’re back with Another review of a karaoke game! What’s more surprising is that it seems Let’s Sing 2019 is the only update to any of this generations karaoke game franchises this year. So no head-to-head review for this year unfortunately. But what that does mean is that Let’s Sing has the entire karaoke market to itself – whether that’s a good thing remains to be seen.
Last year we struggled to find both Let’s Sing 2018 and We Sing Pop at retail – which is undoubtedly why this years game, Let’s Sing 2019, has made its debut digitally Before coming to retail later this year. What the issue with distribution is I do not know but I’m hoping a digital-only future is not on the cards. Going digital only would not bode well for the future of the series, or the genre as a whole.

With a comic book-styled poster, horror comedy short The Code sees a couple's date go badly wrong when they are attacked by flesh-eating zombies.
But an apparent scheduling mishap with a chainsaw killer, a vampire and Bigfoot puts a whole new slant on the night.
Director Mark Blitch's six-minute, blood-slobbering monster mash-up won 11 awards at Houston's Splatterfest including best film, director, screenplay, editing, kill, splatter and special effects; and audience favourite film, story, kill and make-up.
The full video for The Code, starring Tamara Voss, Taylor James Brandt, Todd Terry and Daylon Walton, is embedded below. There's also an official Facebook page.
More gore is being spilled, this time of the Germanic variety, in Marc Rohnstock's Necronos.
Two new promo pictures have been released as a taster for the movie. One is rather gruesomely graphic, even with the already-censored areas blacked out; the other is included below.

As a movie-goer, I’m someone who appreciates the art form of horror and gore films even though I don’t watch a lot of them (I get easily grossed out). However, this short film called “The Code” involves zombies, vampires, a Jason-esque character and Van Helsing (to an extent), and I still found it quite enjoyable. The story starts out with two people on a date–Chad (Daylon Walton) and Vanna Helsing (Tamara Voss). Their date abruptly ends when a gang of zombies, let by Shaun (Taylor James Brandt) find them and want to eat them. However, the plan goes awry when Carl (Todd Terry), a chainsaw killer, shows up, going against...

Chicago – Hardcore movie lovers know the joy of finding a clever comedy or taut thriller that they had never even heard of before they went to the video store. What’s more exciting? Having your preview-determined opinions confirmed or finding something totally off the beaten path? It may not be perfect, but Russ Pond’s consistently interesting “Fissure” could be the hidden gem you’re looking for this weekend.
DVD Rating: 3.5/5.0 Perhaps it’s because of my theatrical background, but I have a certain affinity for small-cast, one-set films like “Fissure”. Like a lot of indie movies, “Fissure” keeps it simple in both setting and cast with only a few speaking roles and generally one set.
Fissure was released on DVD on August 11th, 2009.
