- Ger Thijs was born on May 15, 1948 in Waubach, Netherlands. He was an actor and writer, known for De geheime dienst (2000), Brussel (2017) and Levenslied (2011). He died on February 6, 2023 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
- Since 1970 he has worked as an actor, director, translator, editor and playwright.
- On December 23, 2017, Thijs was appointed Knight in the Dutch Lion.
- His love for the elegant purity of the theater regularly brought him into conflict with a new generation of directors, who wanted more spectacle.
- He did,'t complete his study at the Toneelacademie of Maastricht, because Elise Hoomans asked him to join Toneelgroep Theater after two years, where he made his debut on September 27, 1970 with the play of Raymond Queneau: "Kijk maar, er staat niet wat er staat".
- He was nominated for the Theater Audience Award for three plays ( Beneden de rivieren, Het licht in de ogen en De Kus).
