The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting veteran slugger Jim Thome has been traded to the Baltimore Orioles for minor league prospects Kyle Simon (P) and Gabriel Lino (C).
Thome brings his 609 career home runs to a Baltimore team who finds itself second place to the New York Yankees in a tight Al East division. Hopes are that the power-hitting Dh can bring some added pop to a struggling line up after Baltimore’s 13-13 record in the month of June.
The 41-year-old Thome will still see increase time despite his age moving to the American League, but will consistent play wear down Baltimore’s new acquisition?
Thome has a chance to thrive in this new role and Baltimore could reap some major benefits, but the worry here has to be how far can the team ride Thome without breaking him down.
For the Baltimore fans, how do you feel about the Orioles’ latest deal?...

Should hitting 600 home runs qualify you for a role in the new Sgt. Rock movie? It's a good enough reason as far as Phil Hester is concerned. He proposed giving Jim Thome a shot at the part of Bulldozer if everything finally comes together on the project.
Elsewhere, Brian Michael Bendis has obviously been keeping an eye on "The Dark Knight Rises." He compared it to what he saw on the the "Powers" TV show set, which he said also got a little crazy. More on why, Jim Lee's late hours leading up to the DC Comics reboot and a story of Juggalo harassment made the days list of retweets.

@Brianmbendis honestly, powers pilot had a fraction of what the new batman has and when people came up and started filming us, security was all up in it

Chicago – The Round-Up is back to provide our loyal readers with synopsis and feature details on a few titles that may have slipped on to DVD or Blu-Ray under your radar but might make the right purchase choice this holiday weekend.
It’s not that these title are any “lesser” than some of the biggies out there (one nearly made $100 million domestically and another is a Mel Brooks classic), but we can’t get around to a full-length review of everything that comes into the HollywoodChicago.com office and we want to keep you as informed as possible.
“Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail” and “Spaceballs” were released on June 16th, 2009.
“The Education of Charlie Banks,” “Secret Diary of a Call Girl: Season Two,” and “White Sox Memories” were released on June 30th, 2009.
