If you think "Seinfeld" was all about its fab four of Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander, and Michael Richards, I envy you. This means you have nine unwatched seasons of sitcom genius waiting for you on streaming. If there's a "Seinfeld" fanatic in your life, you probably know about frequently recurring characters like the weaselly Newman (Wayne Knight), George's eccentric parents (Jerry Stiller and Estelle Harris), and standouts like the Soup Nazi (Larry Thomas), but do you know about the deadpan majesty of David Puddy?
Portrayed by Patrick Warburton (to the consternation of his father), David Puddy first appeared in the classic season 6 episode "The Fusilli Jerry." Puddy is Jerry's friend and mechanic who violates an unwritten guy rule when he steals Jerry's coital "move" while having sex with Elaine. This sets into motion a series of hilariously petty complications, so no one was upset to see Puddy return...

"Seinfeld" had plenty of guest stars during its nine-season run. While many of them managed to antagonize the main characters in-universe, a select few actually got on the real-life Jerry Seinfeld's nerves. Arguably the most famous example is Seinfeld's feud with the real-life "Soup Nazi," but that was about the character's inspiration -- noted soup chef Ali Yeganeh of Soup Kitchen International -- being affronted by Seinfeld's version instead of anything Larry Thomas (who played the fictional Yev "Soup Nazi" Kassem) did. However, one particular star's cameo managed to get right up in Seinfeld's face ... literally.
In the "Seinfeld" season 5 two-parter "The Raincoats," Judge Reinhold memorably plays Aaron, Elaine's latest boyfriend who has an unfortunate penchant for standing really close to people when he's talking. During an appearance on "The Rich Eisen Show," Reinhold revealed that when they rehearsed the scene, he couldn't happen but notice that people seemed...

As bizarre and intricate as its plotlines often got, much of "Seinfeld" was based on the real experiences of writers on the show. Co-creators Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld famously mined from real-life annoyances to create comedic high-wire acts that remain unparalleled today. The most famous "Seinfeld" episode inspired by a real person is no doubt "The Soup Nazi," a season 7 outing that caught on like wildfire upon release and still has people shouting "No soup for you!" at each other nearly 30 years later.
In the episode, Jerry and friends check out a much-hyped local soup joint, known as much for its tyrannical owner Yev Kassem (Larry Thomas) as for its delicious soups. Several New Yorkers are dramatically thrown out of the establishment one after another for committing such sins as complaining about not getting bread, putting their hands on the counter,...

Modern Family is back… but don’t expect a reboot.
Four of the original cast members of the ABC sitcom are returning to their roles, starring in a new commercial for WhatsApp, the chat platform owned by Meta.
The stars, Julie Bowen (Claire Dunphy), Ty Burrell (Phil Dunphy), Eric Stonestreet (Cameron Tucker), and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell Pritchett), are reprising their roles for the spot, which pokes fun at group chats in which some members have an iPhone and a blue bubble, and others have an Android phone with a dreaded green bubble.
The platform is pitching itself as a solution to that “divide,” using the ABC sitcom as a hook.
Watch:
Ferguson sparked online rumors of a Modern Family reboot when he shared a photo from the set of the sitcom, captioning the photo “Haven’t seen this view in a while.” He declined to share more when asked...

Pop-Tarts is getting back at Jerry Seinfeld.
It all started when Seinfeld directed and co-wrote a movie, Unfrosted, about the origin of Pop-Tarts. He also stars in the film, which hits Netflix on May 3.
Unfrosted tells the (fictional) origin story of Pop-Tarts, which resulted in a race between breakfast rivals Kellogg’s and Post to create a pastry for the masses in 1963. While Pop-Tarts do indeed have an origin story, this is not it. (The idea had been percolating with Seinfeld for several years — he even made jokes about Pop-Tarts in his stand-up routine and once tweeted he was mulling over the idea of this film — but Pop-Tarts was not involved in the making of Unfrosted.)
“This really did happen in Battle Creek, Michigan, where Kellogg’s and Post were located, and they did compete to come up with this product,” Seinfeld has said. “But the rest of it is complete lunacy.

One of the most famous minor characters in Seinfeld wouldn't work today, according to one of the show's writers. Though it ended 25 years ago, the so-called show about nothing, Seinfeld, is still very much alive in today's pop culture. That's thanks to memorable episodes and standout performances from a frequently stellar guest cast, even if their screen time was brief. One of those characters, The Soup Nazi (played by Larry Thomas), is among the most memorable.
In new comments shared with The Washington Post to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Seinfeld finale, writer Spike Feresten spoke candidly about why one aspect of The Soup Nazi wouldn't work today. Feresten, who wrote the "Soup Nazi" episode, which aired as part of Seinfeld season 7, talks in the excerpt below about how the episode title and character name have a more negative connotation now because of the renewed visibility of real-life Nazis:...

Seinfeld’s “Soup Nazi” is serving up some real talk when it comes to fighting Covid. Larry Thomas, the actor best known for playing the grouchy soup stand owner Yev Kassem (a.k.a. the so-called “Soup Nazi”) on Seinfeld, has teamed up with health and wellness company Boomer Naturals on a special face mask, that pays homage to his character’s famous catchphrase.
The “No Mask, No Soup!” face mask is a non-medical face covering designed to block out airborne particles like dust and debris, while preventing droplets from spreading.

Twenty years ago, there was much ado about nothing — or more specifically, the TV sitcom that was famously about nothing — when “Seinfeld,” then a groundbreaking ratings juggernaut and pop cultural phenomenon, aired its much-anticipated series finale.
Concluding nine seasons of micro-observational humor, complex but absurdist intertwining plotlines, dialogue that became overnight water-cooler catchphrases and a game-changing “no hugging, no learning” approach to network comedy, star and executive producer Jerry Seinfeld turned to his co-creator Larry David, who’d left the series two seasons prior, to craft an ending that would, in established “Seinfeld-ian” style, neatly tie disparate threads of the series together. Living up to the hype fanned by network NBC preceding its airing on May 14, 1998, was a lesser concern.

It’s time to head back to Twin Peaks, salute some major names (Gus Van Sant, James Cameron, Hal Ashby, Guillermo del Toro, Orson Welles), icons (James Dean), and (former) power players (Mike Ovitz). Plus, Harry Potter, Seinfeld, and McDonald’s! Let’s start with a loving look back at 50 years of the starship Enterprise.
Star Trek: 50 Artists 50 Years (Titan Books)
There have been a number of interesting books released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, but there’s no question that 50 Artists 50 Years is the handsomest. As the title makes clear, the premise is simple: 50 respected artists, all with wildly unique styles, were tasked with creating a work of art highlighting some element of the Trek universe. There’s plenty of original series — Glen Brogan’s jaunty representation of the bridge of the Enterprise is my personal favorite — and lots of Spock. Plus, Leonard Nimoy himself...

Several "Seinfeld" cast members staged a virtual reunion for the birthday of a fan with terminal cancer. James Calder was about a month away from his 67th birthday when his son, Jim, and Jim's wife decided to try to set up a virtual birthday party for him with friends and family sending in video messages, according to Jim's blog post about it on The Huffington Post. That evolved into inviting actors from James's favorite TV show, "Seinfeld," to send in their own videos. John O'Hurley was the first to respond, and did it in character as J Peterman, complete with a long yarn about the native people of Papua New Guinea. Larry Thomas then came through as the Soup Nazi. After that, a smattering of characters from the show submitted videos, from Kenny Bania to Mickey Abbott to Al Roker (as played by Al Roker). Some of the bigger names stepped up,...

Chicago – Director Robert Alaniz is a throwback to the maverick film director that completes his projects through hell or low budget. His latest film is his seventh as writer/director, called “Mind Over Mindy.” Larry Thomas – who portrayed the “Soup Nazi” on “Seinfeld” – is part of the cast that will join Alaniz at a Chicago Gala Screening of the film at the northwest side’s historic Patio Theater on September 19th, 2015.

In 1995, an unknown actor stole the show from the most popular characters on TV. When Seinfeld's "The Soup Nazi" episode aired, the militant chef played by Larry Thomas was an instant sensation. "No soup for you" became one of the show's most famous lines, and Thomas would go on to earn an Emmy nomination after paying for the $100 application fee himself. Before landing the role, Thomas was working as a bail bondsman in Los Angeles, struggling to get an acting career going. "The only people who had seen my work were the four people who had sat

Chicago – “No soup for you!” is one of the most memorable TV catchphrases of the 1990s, uttered into immortality by actor Larry Thomas on “Seinfeld,” who portrayed “The Soup Nazi.” Thomas was in the Chicago area recently to act in “Mind Over Mindy,” a new comedy from writer/director Robert Alaniz.

No T-shirts for you. Ever.
That's what Larry Thomas, the actor best known for his role as the Soup Nazi on "Seinfeld," is telling Serbu Firearms after the company used his likeness without his permission on a T-shirt advertising its products.
The T-shirt in question, which said “No Serbu For You,” was a play on the Soup Nazi character’s famed catchphrase and aimed to protest New York’s recent ban on assault weapons.
“I was pretty shocked,” Thomas told The Huffington Post of his reaction upon first seeing the T-shirt. “Really? You’re clinging to the second amendment of the Constitution and you wear it like a blanket and yet you’re totally not aware that you’re not allowed to use someone’s personal image on your product without their permission?”
Thomas said he opened a message from a friend alerting him to the pro-gun T-shirt’s existence on Friday night,...

In HBO’s new comedy Veep, Julia Louis-Dreyfus excels as Selina Meyer, a vice president who’s foul-mouthed and powerless. Tony Hale, a.k.a. Buster Bluth, does great work as her loyal body man, Gary. Anna Chlumsky as Amy, the Vpotus chief of staff, makes me glad the actress ended her self-imposed acting hiatus.
But the show — which our own Ken Tucker calls fun, if not gut busting — might benefit from a few cameos. Specifically: It’d be great if some of Louis-Dreyfus’s old Seinfeld cast mates took up temporary residence in the Oval Office. Er, the Naval Observatory.

First Ferris Bueller, now the Soup Nazi. The 2012 Super Bowl ads are really going for the nostalgia factor.
In this latest Super Bowl ad offering, Jerry Seinfeld wants to buy the new Acura Nsx, but he's number two on the waiting list. So he calls in a bunch of favors in order to move up, including calling on his old nemesis the Soup Nazi (Larry Thomas).
Thomas actually only appeared in two "Seinfeld" episodes - the one titled "The Soup Nazi" and the series finale. But he created one of the most memorable characters and in fact has used the character to help promote soup kitchens.
We have to say - these ads are fun and all, but we're pretty disappointed about them all being released early. Why can't they call just wait until, ya know, the actual Super Bowl?...

Celebrities and Filmmakers, Vampires and Zombies, Fans and Ghouls, Creatures and Creepazoids, Artists, Bands, Movies… the weekend of April 30 through May 2 was filled with all of this and much more. So, the big question is… Where were you? If you were in, or near, St. Louis then the place to be was Con-tamination 2010 at the Holiday Inn Viking Center where fans converged in one location, despite daunting weather. So, what did you miss?
Opening Night… What a Fright!
One could certainly surmise that the truest fans were present on opening night of Con-tamination 2010, braving strong winds, horizontal rain, lightning and tornado warning sirens to show up for the frightening festivities. On the other hand, the weather added a certain level of mood enhancement to the theme of the event, whereas sunshine and calm skies could not. Opening night included, amongst other devilish delights, a tribute for Forry Ackerman by Scott Ford...

New York -- Stroll around Manhattan's Union Square these days, and you come across billboards touting the start of the fall TV season with promotions for the likes of "Heroes," "The Mentalist" and "Private Practice." But on Thursday, an evergreen stole the spotlight here -- "Seinfeld."
The cult sitcom may have ended its primetime TV run a decade ago, but Sony Pictures Television expects one of TV's most valuable franchises can extend its longevity in syndication, on DVD and in new media with a bus tour targeting the key 18-49 demo.
"The show is every bit as compelling today as it was during its original run," said Robert Oswaks, president of marketing at Sony Pictures Television, which has the domestic rights to the show. " 'Seinfeld's' continued strength with the adults 18-49 demographic, coupled with its growth among a new generation of viewers, is a testament to the program's superior quality,...
