Patrick and his friend Alex O'Lachlan (now known as Alex O'Loughlin), came up with the story for the movie "Feed" after they both saw a documentary on Feeders and Gainers.

Formed production company Honour Bright with father Jack Thompson, actor and friend Alex O'Lachlan (now known as Alex O'Loughlin) and "Feed" director Brett Leonard to produce "Feed.".

In 2002, he was named Ambassador for the Australian Pear Industry.

Patrick has appeared in various television commercials including Twisties, Schweppes Lemonade, Toohey's Red and Oak Milk.

Patrick has trained at both The Actor's Centre in Sydney, Australia and at Virgil Fry's Acting School in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.

He has enjoyed carpentry since he was 16

He has starred in Heartbreak High, Water Rats, The Seventh Floor, Kokoda Crescent and several commercials and training films.
