‘Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare’ Review
Image
Stars: Martin Portlock, Megan Placito, Peter DeSouza-Feighoney, Kit Green, Kelly Rian Sanson, Chrissie Wunna, Nicola Wright | Written by Scott Chambers, Rhys Frake-Waterfield | Directed by Scott Chambers

The most recent entry in the so-called Poohniverse, and the first one not to feature Pooh, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, has arrived. With Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and its sequel both being steaming piles of, well, poo, I was going to skip this. But surprisingly, I started hearing quite a few positive things about it.

While most of the films that director Scott Chambers, aka Scott Jeffrey has been involved with are borderline unwatchable fare like Dragon Fury, he does have the occasional entertaining effort like The Gardener to his credit, so it wasn’t entirely beyond the realm of possibility that Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare would actually be decent. Hoping for the best, I decided to give it a chance.

The 15 Best '90s Kids' Movies Ranked
Image
Did movies for kids peak in the 1990s? It's entirely possible. We arrived at this question after sifting through piles of our old VHS tapes to produce a list of the best '90s kids' movies, noting the amount of high-quality entertainment we had to choose from. Make no mistake, this was a hard list to assemble and required more than a few heartbreaking sacrifices. Even cherished Walt Disney productions like "Mulan" and "Tarzan" were left on the outside looking in, which speaks volumes about the last great decade. "Beethoven?" Nope. "Rookie of the Year?" Nadda. "Angels in the Outfield?" Non. The Lindsey Lohan "Parent Trap?" Nein.

Thankfully, the films that made the final cut are genuinely excellent. So, don't get too mad if your favorite children's flicks are nowhere to be found. Chances are, we love them too but had to make room for those that were marginally better.

Interview: Scott Chambers of the Poohniverse Talks How The Franchise Came Out Of Nowhere
Image
When news broke that various children’s properties would enter the public domain and be made into cheap horror movies, most of us expected films that would straight to DVD or Streaming. And while that is the case for many of these releases, not the case with the Poohniverse. Starting with Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, this cinematic universe has found success with its brief theatrical runs. So much so that we’re being treated to a whole slate of films that include Bambi, Winnie the Pooh and Pinochio. The latest entry, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, releases in theaters for only three days (just like the Blood and Honey films) so be sure to check it out in theaters if you want more. My review will go up the night of release.

I was excited to chat with director of Neverland Nightmare (and star of Blood and Honey...

Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare Review: Why so serious?
Image
Plot: Wendy Darling strikes out in an attempt to rescue her brother Michael from ‘the clutches of the evil Peter Pan.’ Along the way she meets Tinkerbell, who will be seen taking heroin, believing that it’s pixie dust.

Review: It’s always very ambitious for a franchise to announce its plans way ahead of time. It certainly has bit Marvel on the butt, but if you’re going to parody their release schedule, you have to do things full bore. And I think most of us at least chuckled when the Poohniverse was announced. So smack dab in the middle of their release lies Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, a horror take on the J.M. Barrie classic. And it’s a hell of a lot darker than expected.

Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare is a very dark and twisted take on Peter Pan as he sucks the souls out of children to remain youthful.

Following Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and its recent - and much more positively-received - sequel, the third instalment in the Twisted Childhood Universe, aka the "Poohniverse," is set to hit theaters on January 13 for a three-day run before heading to streaming at a later date, and we now have some new stills from Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare courtesy of EW.

According to director Scott Chambers, Tink has been reimagined as a biologically born male named Timmy, who Pan keeps in line by feeding "pixie dust."

“She didn't fit the criteria to actually be sent fully to Neverland,” Chambers explains. “Then he says, however, you can be something else. You can be this fairy,...

Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare Review: The Blood & Honey Universe Is At Its Best When It Doesn't Play Things So Straightfaced
Image
The Twisted Childhood Universe has been one of the most fascinating introductions to the horror genre in recent years, and Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare is its latest installment. Created by Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the franchise is composed of interconnected stories bringing horror-driven takes on iconic children's characters that are available in the public domain. The franchise began with the critically maligned Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and continued with its generally better-received sequel, while six other movies are in various states of development and production.

Peter Pan’S Neverland Nightmare Q&a with Director / Writer Scott Chambers
Image
From Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare arrives in theaters for three days only starting January 13th from Iconic Events Releasing. Ahead of the theatrical release, we caught up the film's writer and director, Scott Chambers, to learn all about the making of the film:

The Poohniverse is expanding to cover new twisted childhood stories. How did Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare come about as the newest entry and your latest directorial effort?

Scott Chambers: Peter Pan will feature as one of the main villains within Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, and with that filming in 2025, we wanted to introduce the audiences to him before that movie. Going into Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, we want audiences to already feel a certain way toward Pan. So it was important to release this film prior.

When putting a horrific spin on this material, what research did you do into the...

Sneak Peek Video Unveils a Spine-Chilling Take on Peter Pan with ‘Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare’
Image
Fans of twisted fairy tales have something new to look forward to with the release of ‘Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare,’ brought to us by Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios.

This film is a dark departure from the beloved tales of our childhood, featuring a sinister version of Peter Pan that’s sure to unsettle you.

In this new horror twist, Peter Pan transforms from the whimsical boy who never wanted to grow up into a terrifying figure.

The plot centers around the Darling family, who find themselves in a nightmarish scenario when the youngest son, Michael, is kidnapped by Peter.

The film veers away from the adventurous trips to Neverland and instead throws Wendy and her siblings into a desperate struggle with their childhood hero-turned-villain.

The sneak peek provided by Collider just in time for the first day of ticket sales shows a scene that sets the tone for this horror story.

Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare Trailer: The Poohniverse Expands In Gory New Horror Movie
Image
In the beginning there was Winnie The Pooh: Blood & Honey. Then, there was Winnie the Pooh_: Blood & Honey 2_. And now, as Rhys Frake-Waterfield — the Kevin Feige of effed-up fairytale films — envisioned back in early 2023, the Twisted Childhood Universe of public domain based horrors is set to expand with Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare. Written and directed by Scott Jeffrey (not to be confused with Muppet Babies helmsman Jeffrey Scott), the Tcu's latest childhood crusher is set to see Martin Portlock bring to our screens a slightly more murderous version of the boy who never grew up than Disney's take on the J.M. Barrie fairytale. Check out the bloody first trailer below;

Welp — we don't know about his shadow, but it sure does look like our pal Peter has found his dark side here! Whilst theorists have long contested a dark truth at the heart of Barrie's book (that...

“Why are they turning kids cartoons into horror movies”: Poohniverse Gets Out of Hand as Disturbing Trailer For Peter Pan Ruins Iconic Characters For Fans
Image
The Poohniverse has struck again, and this time, the situation seems to be more grave than ever before. After the slasher-horror pieces from the Twisted Childhood Universe (Tcu) that started with Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and followed by its sequel, this next film seems to hold an equally carnage vision as it strikes yet another fan-favorite character: Peter Pan.

Peter Pan. (1953) | Credits: Rko Pictures.

This is because this very beloved character, who pretty much shaped a lot of kids’ childhood, has been transformed into a much grittier and gorier version in the upcoming Neverland Nightmare. And, as things get out of hand for this alternate crossover universe that reimagines beloved fairy-tale characters as horror movie villains, fans can’t help but express severe disapproval.

Peter Pan's Horror Movie Is Looking A Lot Better (& Darker) Than I Expected
Image
Among the many upcoming horror movies based on childrens stories is Peter Pans Neverland Nightmare, and the first trailer took me by surprise as it looks a lot better and darker than I expected. The horror genre has regained its popularity in recent years thanks to many successful movies from original movies to adaptations to reboots and legacy sequels. However, one unexpected trend that gained a lot of force is horror versions of childrens stories and characters, which began with 2023s Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey.

Its success led to the creation of a shared universe called The Twisted Childhood Universe, and it already has various movies in development. Among them is Peter Pans Neverland Nightmare, written and directed by Scott Jeffrey. The project was announced in 2022 as part of Blood and Honeys shared universe and this version of Peter Pan is expected to join other characters from this universe in...

Screamboat And Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare Horror Trailers Are Here To Ruin Your Childhoods
Image
With the original iterations of several Disney characters now in the public domain, the door has been opened to parodies featuring twisted new versions of them.

One of the most attention-grabbing parodies is the upcoming horror movie Screamboat which, in case it wasn't obvious, is based on the iconic Mickey Mouse predecessor, Steamboat Willie.

Directed by Steven Lamorte, who previously helmed 2022's The Mean One, a horror based on Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas, the teaser trailer suggests the project will make slasher fans happy.

According to the synopsis, "[Screamboat] follows a group of New Yorkers on a late-night ferry ride that turns deadly when a mischievous mouse begins a rampage, targeting unsuspecting passengers. The unlikely crew must band together to thwart the murderous menace before their relaxing commute turns into a nightmare."

You can watch the newly released trailer below (via FearHQ.com) ahead of the movie's planned 2025 release.

“The only therapy I can offer you right now is to play with your child”: The Worst Rated Steven Spielberg Movie Took a Severe Toll on Robin Williams After Being Forced to Become Unfunny

Robin Williams is known for his lively and entertaining on-screen performances, which not only delighted audiences but were also enjoyable for him. However, it didn’t seem to be the case for Steven Spielberg’s 1991 film Hook, which featured him in the role of an adult Peter Pan.

Despite being Spielberg’s worst-rated film, it was a commercial success and has since gained a cult following. While the film turned out to be quite successful, it was challenging for Williams to portray an uptight, regular adult version of Peter Pan.

Robin Williams Was Forbidden From Being Funny in Steven Spielberg’s Hook

Steven Spielberg’s Hook follows an adult Peter Pan, named Peter Banning, who has left Neverland and has started a family on Earth. However, things take an unexpected turn after Captain Hook kidnaps his children, prompting him to return to Neverland...

The Poohniverse Expands! Check Out Neverland Nightmare’s Poster!
Image
The Poohniverse—yes, it is real, it is happening, and no, it’s not a series of Disney-knockoff adult films from Wood Rocket. The next movie in the horror cinematic universe (Peter Pan’s Nightmare Neverland) has a brand new poster!

Jagged Edge Productions has released a more fleshed-out poster for Peter Pan’s Nightmare Neverland. And … I have several questions.

Image Credit: Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios

I get that Jep’s movies are somewhat limited by their budget, but nothing about this reminds me of J.M. Barrie’s or Disney’ Pan. I see Captain Hook back there, but what are Scott Jeffrey (director/writer) and Rhys Frake-Waterfield (writer) going for here?

According to Bloody Disgusting, Peter Pan’s Nightmare Neverland is less fantasy and more pedestrian slasher. When interviewing Scott Jeffrey, he had the following to say:

“I am taking inspiration from French cinema while in prep for this movie.

‘Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare’ – Official Poster for ‘Poohniverse’ Team’s Next Horror Movie
Image
The filmmakers behind Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey are expanding their public domain horror universe with a handful of upcoming “Poohniverse” movies, including Bambi: The Reckoning, Pinocchio: Unstrung, and Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare. Bloody Disgusting has exclusively scored the poster art for Neverland Nightmare today.

Scott Jeffrey directs Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, now in post-production. Find the poster below and read on for everything you need to know about the Peter Pan horror movie.

The Jagged Edge Productions film — being sold by ITN Studios — follows Wendy Darling as she strikes out in an attempt to rescue her brother Michael from “the clutches of the evil Peter Pan.” Along the way she meets Tinkerbell, who in this twisted version of the story will be seen taking heroine, convinced that it’s pixie dust.

Jeffrey tells us, “This is tonally an extremely darker film to Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey. When dealing with children being abducted,...

Danna Embraces Her Darkness and Ends Up Shining on ‘Childstar’

On her new album Childstar, the Mexican pop star Danna introduces herself to fans in Latin America who thought they already knew everything about her.

To start, the 13-track concept LP, which dropped last week, is the singer’s first project under her new stage name “Danna.” (She’s removed the “Paola” from her original moniker.) It’s her way of stripping herself from the chica buena — or good girl — role that she felt forced to uphold since she started acting at age 4.

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 Review | It's Actually Good
Image
Embracing meta direction and clever twists keeps this sequel fresh and surprisingly enjoyable. Well-done prosthetics, pacing, and gore make for a satisfying horror experience. Despite being a bit mean and sacrilegious to Milne's memory, and having some weak internal logic, the film offers a raw love letter to over-the-top horror fans.

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey was trendy but abysmal. Yet somehow, writer/director Rhys Frake-Waterfield managed to garner the cash with their Jagged Edge Productions for a sequel. The filmmaker reportedly listened to the niche audience who balked at the low-budget horror film that pooed upon A.A. Milne’s classic IP. His “Come to Jesus” moment lured in co-screenwriter Matt Leslie (Summer of ’84) and the duo pretty much reinvented everything for Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2. The story is plausible if not better, and the horror and gore recall the gritty, one-note, blood-soaked horror escapades from the 1970s and ’80s, such as Texas Chainsaw Massacre,...

The third film is slated to have a bigger budget than the recently released Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, which landed in theaters on March 26.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3 Now in the Works, Will Have Bigger Budget
Image
Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 3 is in the works with a bigger budget, introducing new nightmarish characters from A.A. Milne's world. The 'Poohniverse' will bring together Pooh, Piglet, horror versions of Bambi, Peter Pan, and others in a crossover event movie. Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 takes a meta approach with a bloody storyline and a mix of positive and mixed reviews.

A third movie in the Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey is now officially in the works. The news comes quickly following the theatrical release of Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, with Variety revealing that Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 3 will have an even “bigger budget” that this year’s follow-up. Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 3 will also introduce several more beloved characters from the world of A.A. Milne, with Rabbit and the heffalumps due to be twisted and warped into nightmarish creations alongside the likes of Pooh, Piglet, and Tigger.

‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 3’ Confirmed (Exclusive)
Image
In news likely to simultaneously delight and appall across the cinema world, a third instalment of IP-bludgeoning slasher ‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey’ has been confirmed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield and Scott Chambers of prolific horror banner Jagged Edge Productions.

According to the producers, ‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 3’ will have a bigger budget than the previous films and will introduce new characters from the original Winnie-the-Pooh stories, including Rabbit, the heffalumps and the woozles. All will no doubt be given sadistic, murderous twists.

The news comes with ‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2’ now in U.S. cinemas as part of its 3-day theatrical run via Fathom Events, and just over a year after the release of the first of what is now a quick-fire three-part franchise.

Despite poor reviews, the original ‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey’ became an unexpected box office smash and cultural talking point in early 2023 for a premise that saw...

With Disney+ Highwaywoman Romp ‘Renegade Nell,’ Sally Wainwright Stands and (Mostly) Delivers: TV Review
Image
Having established herself at the BBC with the police procedural “Happy Valley” and the crossdressing costume drama “Gentleman Jack,” screenwriter-turned-showrunner Sally Wainwright has followed countless creatives and taken the Disney shilling to initiate her latest project. You can hardly blame her, given the reduced offer the cash-strapped British broadcaster is now extending even to its more illustrious dramaturges: rarely more than three episodes per series and four characters per scene. Imposed by post-Brexit belt-tightening, this sorry set of limitations has exasperated those obliged to work within them while dispiriting viewers, left watching the life — and the talent — drain from primetime broadcasts.

Mashing up historical and fantastical elements, the pricey-looking, eight-part “Renegade Nell” rides into a surprisingly crowded field for light period entertainments straddling the Stuart and Georgian eras, emerging after the sadly short-lived BBC comedy “The Witchfinder” and Apple TV+’s recent “The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin.” While...

Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble plans to bring twisted children's characters together for a terror-filled event inspired by Freddy Vs Jason and The Avengers. The success of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey sequel hinges on commercial performance, as budget size for this horror film grows significantly. Set to release in 2025, the Poohniverse movie faces challenges from critics and audiences, but the potential for an epic monster mash-up still shines through.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey has a lot to answer for, as Jagged Edge Productions has announced their ultimate goal for the public domain slasher franchise - a huge crossover event entitled Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble.

The release of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey was timed to perfection, arriving as the cuddly bear from A.A. Milne's stories entered the public domain and became fair game for anyone willing to deconstruct it and put it back together in any way of their choosing.

Winnie the Pooh Horror Film Will Get a Crossover Sequel Featuring Bambi, Tinker Bell, and Pinocchio
Image
A Winnie the Pooh slasher film is getting the sequel treatment, and the newly-minted “Twisted Childhood Universe (Tcu)” is getting its first major crossover event.

Just months after Winnie the Pooh entered the public domain in 2022, Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios made waves for producing Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, a slasher film depicting A.A. Milne’s beloved characters of the Hundred Acre Wood as feral, blood-hungry killers. Despite very, very negative critical reception (it has a 3% on Rotten Tomatoes), the film made $5 million at the box office on a $50,000 budget, and led to other planned horror films featuring children’s characters now in the public domain like Bambi, Pinocchio, and the characters of Peter Pan.

Now, a grand cinematic crossover event with these characters is imminent: Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble will hit theaters in 2025. As reported by Variety, the Avengers-style low-budget horror crossover will see Winnie the Pooh join villainous forces with Bambi,...

Made on a budget of less than $100,000, director Rhys Frake-Waterfield’s movie Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (watch it Here) earned more than $6 million during its global release in early 2023, so the sequel Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 is set to receive a three-day theatrical run in the United States on March 26, 27, and 28th, courtesy of Fathom Events, ITN Studios, and Jagged Edge Productions. Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble Will Unite Horror Versions Of Winnie The Pooh, Bambi, Peter Pan & More
Image
Ah, the magic of the public domain. The arch nemesis of studios and corporations and copyright lawyers everywhere is nothing but a boon to the rest of us, allowing literally anyone to get their hands on famous properties and shamelessly twist and pervert them beyond all recognition. That's precisely what happened with the beloved character of Winnie the Pooh just over two years ago, allowing for a slew of knockoff (and frankly terrible) B-movie horror flicks like "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" and its upcoming sequel. Well, things are about to kick into another gear entirely as an entire shared universe is apparently now in the works.

Just when you thought it was safe to visit the Hundred Acre Wood again. In the bloodiest and most un-family-friendly news we'll probably get this week, Variety revealed that the creative team responsible for "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" is now...

The studio's ambitious cinematic universe aims to follow the success of major franchises like The Avengers by uniting classic villains for carnage. Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble promises a unique correction to past horror crossovers, creating excitement for the future of The Twisted Childhood Universe.

Ahead of the second installment hitting theaters, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey studio Jagged Edge Productions has confirmed their horror crossover event plans with Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble. Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble | Team-up film set for release in 2025 from the makers of Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey
Image
Winnie The Pooh, Pinocchio, Peter Pan and more are set to appear in Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, a horror film from the makers of Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey. More on the story below.

It’s not exactly a secret that Marvel has been struggling recently with diminishing (but still sizable) box office returns, troubled productions and less-than-great reviews for its films. A more cynical writer might say that it’s about time Marvel was dethroned as the ruler of cinematic universes.

It will certainly face some stiff competition from the makers of Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey, who are now setting up their own cinematic universe.

A new film called Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, has been announced, and is set to be released in 2025 according to Variety. The film will see a team-up between familiar heroes such as Winnie The Pooh, Bambi, Tinkerbell, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Tigger, Piglet, The Mad Hatter and Sleeping Beauty.

Welcome to the ‘Poohniverse’: ‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey’ Team to Unite Pooh, Bambi, Tinkerbell and More in Low-Budget Horror Crossover (Exclusive)
Image
Six years after “Avengers: Infinity War,” another film is vying to become the most ambitious crossover event in history, this time in the lower-budget cinematic realm.

The filmmakers behind “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” — the micro-budget slasher that sparked headlines for turning A. A. Milne’s jovial bear into a feral serial killer and made an incredible $5.2 million at the box office after costing under $50,000 to make — have unveiled “Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble,” bringing together Pooh and various other beloved children’s characters gone bad.

Where “Avengers: Infinity War” had Iron Man, Spider-Man, Black Panther and Thanos, “Poohniverse” — from prolific horror collaborators Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios — will team Winnie the Pooh with murderous versions of figures including Bambi, Tinkerbell, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Tigger, Piglet, The Mad Hatter and Sleeping Beauty for an IP-bludgeoning frenzy due for release in 2025. Indeed, on the poster, which Variety is also able to exclusively reveal,...
