We had heard that director Rhys Frake-Waterfield and producer Scott Jeffrey Chambers were planning to create a cinematic universe with the Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey films and other horror movies inspired by children’s stories, like Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, Bambi: The Reckoning, and Pinocchio Unstrung. Then, Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios officially announced that this cinematic universe, which is being referred to as The Twisted Childhood Universe, is building up to the crossover movie Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, which will be released in 2025. Now, JoBlo’s own Tyler Nichols has had the chance to talk to Chambers about their plans for Poohniverse – and during their conversation, Chambers revealed that one of the classic children’s story characters who will be added into the mix with this movie, which sounds like it’s going to be a total bloodbath, is Mary Poppins!

Fans of twisted fairy tales have something new to look forward to with the release of ‘Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare,’ brought to us by Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios.
This film is a dark departure from the beloved tales of our childhood, featuring a sinister version of Peter Pan that’s sure to unsettle you.
In this new horror twist, Peter Pan transforms from the whimsical boy who never wanted to grow up into a terrifying figure.
The plot centers around the Darling family, who find themselves in a nightmarish scenario when the youngest son, Michael, is kidnapped by Peter.
The film veers away from the adventurous trips to Neverland and instead throws Wendy and her siblings into a desperate struggle with their childhood hero-turned-villain.
The sneak peek provided by Collider just in time for the first day of ticket sales shows a scene that sets the tone for this horror story.

In the beginning there was Winnie The Pooh: Blood & Honey. Then, there was Winnie the Pooh_: Blood & Honey 2_. And now, as Rhys Frake-Waterfield — the Kevin Feige of effed-up fairytale films — envisioned back in early 2023, the Twisted Childhood Universe of public domain based horrors is set to expand with Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare. Written and directed by Scott Jeffrey (not to be confused with Muppet Babies helmsman Jeffrey Scott), the Tcu's latest childhood crusher is set to see Martin Portlock bring to our screens a slightly more murderous version of the boy who never grew up than Disney's take on the J.M. Barrie fairytale. Check out the bloody first trailer below;
Welp — we don't know about his shadow, but it sure does look like our pal Peter has found his dark side here! Whilst theorists have long contested a dark truth at the heart of Barrie's book (that...

The Poohniverse has struck again, and this time, the situation seems to be more grave than ever before. After the slasher-horror pieces from the Twisted Childhood Universe (Tcu) that started with Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and followed by its sequel, this next film seems to hold an equally carnage vision as it strikes yet another fan-favorite character: Peter Pan.

This is because this very beloved character, who pretty much shaped a lot of kids’ childhood, has been transformed into a much grittier and gorier version in the upcoming Neverland Nightmare. And, as things get out of hand for this alternate crossover universe that reimagines beloved fairy-tale characters as horror movie villains, fans can’t help but express severe disapproval.

With the original iterations of several Disney characters now in the public domain, the door has been opened to parodies featuring twisted new versions of them.
One of the most attention-grabbing parodies is the upcoming horror movie Screamboat which, in case it wasn't obvious, is based on the iconic Mickey Mouse predecessor, Steamboat Willie.
Directed by Steven Lamorte, who previously helmed 2022's The Mean One, a horror based on Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas, the teaser trailer suggests the project will make slasher fans happy.
According to the synopsis, "[Screamboat] follows a group of New Yorkers on a late-night ferry ride that turns deadly when a mischievous mouse begins a rampage, targeting unsuspecting passengers. The unlikely crew must band together to thwart the murderous menace before their relaxing commute turns into a nightmare."
You can watch the newly released trailer below (via FearHQ.com) ahead of the movie's planned 2025 release.

Robin Williams is known for his lively and entertaining on-screen performances, which not only delighted audiences but were also enjoyable for him. However, it didn’t seem to be the case for Steven Spielberg’s 1991 film Hook, which featured him in the role of an adult Peter Pan.

Despite being Spielberg’s worst-rated film, it was a commercial success and has since gained a cult following. While the film turned out to be quite successful, it was challenging for Williams to portray an uptight, regular adult version of Peter Pan.

The Poohniverse—yes, it is real, it is happening, and no, it’s not a series of Disney-knockoff adult films from Wood Rocket. The next movie in the horror cinematic universe (Peter Pan’s Nightmare Neverland) has a brand new poster!
Jagged Edge Productions has released a more fleshed-out poster for Peter Pan’s Nightmare Neverland. And … I have several questions.

I get that Jep’s movies are somewhat limited by their budget, but nothing about this reminds me of J.M. Barrie’s or Disney’ Pan. I see Captain Hook back there, but what are Scott Jeffrey (director/writer) and Rhys Frake-Waterfield (writer) going for here?
According to Bloody Disgusting, Peter Pan’s Nightmare Neverland is less fantasy and more pedestrian slasher. When interviewing Scott Jeffrey, he had the following to say:
“I am taking inspiration from French cinema while in prep for this movie.

In news likely to simultaneously delight and appall across the cinema world, a third instalment of IP-bludgeoning slasher ‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey’ has been confirmed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield and Scott Chambers of prolific horror banner Jagged Edge Productions.
According to the producers, ‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 3’ will have a bigger budget than the previous films and will introduce new characters from the original Winnie-the-Pooh stories, including Rabbit, the heffalumps and the woozles. All will no doubt be given sadistic, murderous twists.
The news comes with ‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2’ now in U.S. cinemas as part of its 3-day theatrical run via Fathom Events, and just over a year after the release of the first of what is now a quick-fire three-part franchise.

Having established herself at the BBC with the police procedural “Happy Valley” and the crossdressing costume drama “Gentleman Jack,” screenwriter-turned-showrunner Sally Wainwright has followed countless creatives and taken the Disney shilling to initiate her latest project. You can hardly blame her, given the reduced offer the cash-strapped British broadcaster is now extending even to its more illustrious dramaturges: rarely more than three episodes per series and four characters per scene. Imposed by post-Brexit belt-tightening, this sorry set of limitations has exasperated those obliged to work within them while dispiriting viewers, left watching the life — and the talent — drain from primetime broadcasts.
Mashing up historical and fantastical elements, the pricey-looking, eight-part “Renegade Nell” rides into a surprisingly crowded field for light period entertainments straddling the Stuart and Georgian eras, emerging after the sadly short-lived BBC comedy “The Witchfinder” and Apple TV+’s recent “The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin.” While...

A Winnie the Pooh slasher film is getting the sequel treatment, and the newly-minted “Twisted Childhood Universe (Tcu)” is getting its first major crossover event.
Just months after Winnie the Pooh entered the public domain in 2022, Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios made waves for producing Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, a slasher film depicting A.A. Milne’s beloved characters of the Hundred Acre Wood as feral, blood-hungry killers. Despite very, very negative critical reception (it has a 3% on Rotten Tomatoes), the film made $5 million at the box office on a $50,000 budget, and led to other planned horror films featuring children’s characters now in the public domain like Bambi, Pinocchio, and the characters of Peter Pan.

Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble will bring together horror versions of Pooh, Peter Pan, Bambi, & more
Made on a budget of less than $100,000, director Rhys Frake-Waterfield’s movie Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (watch it Here) earned more than $6 million during its global release in early 2023, so the sequel Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 is set to receive a three-day theatrical run in the United States on March 26, 27, and 28th, courtesy of Fathom Events, ITN Studios, and Jagged Edge Productions. Ah, the magic of the public domain. The arch nemesis of studios and corporations and copyright lawyers everywhere is nothing but a boon to the rest of us, allowing literally anyone to get their hands on famous properties and shamelessly twist and pervert them beyond all recognition. That's precisely what happened with the beloved character of Winnie the Pooh just over two years ago, allowing for a slew of knockoff (and frankly terrible) B-movie horror flicks like "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" and its upcoming sequel. Well, things are about to kick into another gear entirely as an entire shared universe is apparently now in the works.
Just when you thought it was safe to visit the Hundred Acre Wood again. In the bloodiest and most un-family-friendly news we'll probably get this week, Variety revealed that the creative team responsible for "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" is now...

Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 hits theaters March 26, 27, 28th from Fathom Events, a sequel to last year’s viral hit that ended up making nearly $5 million at the box office. ITN Studios & Jagged Edge Productions are all-in on their “Twisted Childhood Universe,” but what’s the end game? As it turns out, they’re planning an Avengers-style mashup.
For starters, the growing “Twisted Childhood Universe” will feature previously announced stand-alone films Bambi: The Reckoning, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare and Pinocchio Unstrung and introduce new characters such as Sleeping Beauty, The Mad Hatter, and Rabbit from Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey.
All of these characters will come together in Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble in 2025 when the monsters join forces to take down the world.
Blood and Honey 2‘s end credits will feature a first look at the upcoming Poohniverse.

Winnie The Pooh, Pinocchio, Peter Pan and more are set to appear in Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, a horror film from the makers of Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey. More on the story below.
It’s not exactly a secret that Marvel has been struggling recently with diminishing (but still sizable) box office returns, troubled productions and less-than-great reviews for its films. A more cynical writer might say that it’s about time Marvel was dethroned as the ruler of cinematic universes.
It will certainly face some stiff competition from the makers of Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey, who are now setting up their own cinematic universe.
A new film called Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, has been announced, and is set to be released in 2025 according to Variety. The film will see a team-up between familiar heroes such as Winnie The Pooh, Bambi, Tinkerbell, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Tigger, Piglet, The Mad Hatter and Sleeping Beauty.

“When You Wish Upon a Star” is one of those songs, like “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” that’s bigger than a song. It was first heard, of course, in the 1940 Walt Disney animated classic “Pinocchio,” where it was sung by Jiminy Cricket. Disney made it the company theme song in the ’50s, and since the early ’80s it has been featured in the studio’s motion-picture logo. Steven Spielberg added a layer of fairy dust to the song’s mythology when he talked about how close he came to playing it over the final moments of “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” For Disney, “When You Wish Upon a Star” is more than an anthem — it’s a totem of corporate magic, a statement of everything the company represents and holds dear.
So what does it mean that “Wish,” the studio’s lavish new animated musical, while it doesn’t...

When you hear the phrase "fairy tale," images of Tinkerbell, glass slippers, or delightfully wicked witches might fill your head because the Walt Disney version of these centuries-old stories, where the original tales' sharp edges have been sanded off, has a firm grip on pop culture. Because of this, many of those who only read the beginning of the marketing copy for Apple TV+'s "The Changeling," which calls the show "a fairy tale for grown-ups," will be in for a surprise.
"The Changeling" channels Brothers Grimm, not Disney, and the series — inspired by the fable about fairies who steal babies for their own delight and leave doppelgangers made of twigs in twine in their place — sharpens the edges of the original story rather than dulls them.

That’s hot…pink. As Mattel’s iconic doll Barbie sees a renaissance due almost exclusively to the upcoming movie, there’s someone most of us plain forgot about that thinks she deserves credit for its success – and thy name is Paris Hilton.
In a new Interview Magazine sitdown (with editor-in-chief and fashion designer Mel Ottenberg), Paris Hilton said that her penchant for wearing pink in the 2000s led to a Barbie-inspired fashion that she is directly responsible for leading. “I love all the pink. So, just to see everybody now in all pink and rocking that is just really incredible. I’ve been doing Barbiecore for so long, I probably invented Barbiecore…I really believe that. Besides Barbie, I was the first human…I love Barbie. She’s my idol and icon.” What, no Oppenheimer chic, Paris?

Hopefully, those May flowers will start blooming soon after the many April (and previous months’) showers. But whatever the weather, Netflix has a solid selection of new movies to watch this month.
Netflix’s May lineup has several bright and joyful animated films as well as more serious stories with light at the end of the tunnel. Tom Hanks’ latest theatrical release “A Man Called Otto” arrives on the streaming service, adapted from Frederick Backman’s book “A Man Called Ove” and following the story of a grumpy old man who struggles to find purpose in life after the death of his wife.
Animated adventures for the whole family include “The Croods” and “The Tale of Desperaux” which teach lessons of bravery in their own ways. For those in the mood for slightly quirkier stories, Jason Moore’s “Pitch Perfect” and “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events” should do the trick.

David Lowery became an indie film darling with projects like “The Green Knight” and “A Ghost Story,” but he has become equally prolific as a Disney filmmaker. After finding success with his live-action take on “Pete’s Dragon,” he collaborated with the studio again on “Peter Pan & Wendy,” which is now streaming on Disney+. But per usual, his reimagining of the Disney classic was shaped by the more adult-oriented projects that he enjoys.
In a new interview with The New York Times, Lowery opened up about the films that influenced “Peter Pan & Wendy.” He found inspiration in some unlikely sources, including Andrei Tarkovsky’s “Mirror.” He explained that Peter Pan and Tinkerbell’s introduction scenes, where they sprinkle pixie dust on the sleeping Darling children, were inspired by certain levitation shots in the surreal classic.
He was also inspired by some more modern films, including Martin Scorsese’s “Gangs of New York.

It looks like kids’ movies are dominating the box office right now. Mind you, what looks to be the first billion-dollar blockbuster is based on a decades-old video game. But what about the classic fairy tales, you may ask? Not to worry, although it’s fairly young at a spry 121 years, as opposed to the centuries-old Grimm Brothers stories and assorted myths and legends. And it’s also the 70th anniversary of the definitive animated adaptation from the master artists at the “mouse house”. Ugh, you may be thinking, not another live-action retread of a superb cartoon ala the recent Pinocchio (not the Oscar-winner) or the dreary Dumbo. Well, you’re not really correct as this tale began (after its literary roots) on the stage and has been played by flesh-and-blood actors in versions going back to the silent movie days. And so, here’s another version, this time sharing...

There is something fitting about the fact that a charming adventure story about a boy that never grows up who leads a cadre of children wishing to remain similarly youthful and carefree forever gets remade in one form or another every decade or so. It speaks to the fact that the desire to avoid adulthood and remain unmoored and childlike forever remains as strong as ever, if not stronger. At the same time, it reveals our seeming inability to understand fully why the story is so resonant. Every time the story is told, you can feel the creator struggling with the material, wrestling with its meaning, imparting in the story their own beliefs and fears.
Director David Lowery, who has spent the last decade building an aesthetically and thematically similar but tonally diverse oeuvre, is a perfect modern match for this material. His works have explored heartache and loneliness and...

Peter Pan & Wendy, David Lowery’s humanizing interpretation of J.M. Barrie’s existential classic about the boy who refuses to grow up, speaks more to the inner child of jaded adults than it does to actual kids. This version of the fairytale grounds the fundamental wistfulness of the original tale with empathetic backstories and takes care to remedy the original’s overt racism and latent sexism.
Despite criticisms lodged at Lowery (The Green Knight) in the months leading up to this film’s release on Disney+, Peter Pan & Wendy keeps much intact. Lowery and his co-writer Toby Halbrooks have a firm grasp on the enduring qualities of Barrie’s story, which, as they correctly suggest throughout the film, has nothing to do with whether or not the gang of Lost Boys includes girls. Their rendition teases out the conflicts between Peter and Wendy, diversifies the mythic leader’s ragtag group...

One can almost set their watch to film adaptations of J.M. Barrie's celebrated 1904 play "Peter and Wendy."
The story of the flying elf boy from Neverland and his friendship with a human girl from Earth was such a massive success and left such a strong cultural impact, that sequels and cross-media adaptations began cropping up only a few years after its debut. Barrie himself would turn the play into a novel in 1911, but that wasn't before he had already written two Peter Pan sequels in 1906 and 1908. The first filmed version of "Peter Pan" would be made by Herbert Brenon in 1924.
Perhaps the best-known adaptation, however, came to cinemas in 1953 when Walt Disney Studios released their animated version directed by Hamilton Luske, Clyde Geronimi, and Wilfred Jackson. The iconography from the Disney "Peter Pan" remains entrenched most firmly in the pop consciousness, and it continues to be one of the...

As kids and adults alike, millions of people dream of becoming movie stars. For some actors who make it, though, success on the big screen isn’t everything it’s built up to be. And while most still choose to stay, some stars leave Hollywood to pursue other careers. One such example is Charlie Korsmo, who played the son of Robin Williams’ character in Hook.
Korsmo’s face may be familiar to those who grew up in the 90s. The child star also appeared in movies like Dick Tracy. However, the actor’s career in Hollywood was short-lived, retiring from acting at a young age. Instead, Korsmo pursued a career in academia and is now a successful law professor.

They don’t need no education, but they may head back to the classroom anyway, as Jack Black has assured fans that there will be a School of Rock reunion this year to celebrate the movie’s 20th anniversary.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Black said this was as good a time as any to have a School of Rock reunion. “All those kids–dig this–they were 10 years old when we made that movie and now they’re all, like, 30…We’re gonna get together and have a 20-year anniversary. We like to jam. I’m looking forward to seeing all of the grownups from School of Rock.” Of note, there was also a 10-year reunion a decade ago that featured the cast attending a screening and even taking the stage to perform a few numbers.
A School of Rock reunion would certainly be deserved, as the movie has endured solidly for two decades,...

The glass slippers still fit Brandy. The singer’s long-awaited return as Cinderella in a new Disney television movie has been given an official first look, courtesy of footage from the set of “Descendants: Rise of Red.” Brandy is reprising the role of Cinderella 26 years after becoming the princess opposite Whitney Houston’s Fairy Godmother in the 1997 television movie “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella.”
The set footage also confirmed that “Descendants: Rise of Red” will feature the return of Paolo Montalban, who played Brandy’s Prince Charming in the 1997 movie, which was groundbreaking for its multicultural casting. Charming is now king, and Cinderella is queen.
Variety confirmed last November that Brandy boarded the “Descendants” movie as Cinderella. At the time, the movie musical had the working title of “The Pocketwatch.” The film centers on the relationship between Red (Kylie Cantrall), the rebellious teenage daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Chloe...

Paris Hilton Reveals Why ‘South Park’ “Upset” Her, Pretending to Vote for Donald Trump in New Memoir
In Paris: The Memoir, model, “Og” influencer, media personality, entrepreneur and mother Paris Hilton shares details behind some of her most public — and private — moments while living as a Hollywood-adjacent hotel heiress.
It’s a look behind the curtain of the 2000s reality star and tabloid princess’ life that focuses on her time at a series of troubled-teen reform boarding schools, where she was allegedly physically, mentally and sexually abused; the complicated familial relationships that enabled her time there; and its impact on the rest of her life.
But Hilton’s self-titled memoir also excavates other more personal elements of her life beyond the walls of those schools — from her Adhd, IVF and relationship experiences to being sexually preyed upon by an eighth-grade teacher, being sexually assaulted at a mall and having a sex tape released without her consent.
That’s all presented alongside stories about the more glamorous aspects of her life,...
