Adolf Trotz was born on 6 September 1895 in Janowa, Silesia, Germany [now Janowa, Opolskie, Poland]. He is known for L'amour qu'il faut aux femmes (1934), Wege zur guten Ehe (1933) and Glanz gegen Glück (1923).

He had to leave Germany with the rise of the National Socialists and he emigrated to Spain.
There he was able to realise again some movies.

The director Adolf Trotz first studied philosophy and pharmacy before he decided to start his professional life in the film business.

His last cinematical works as a director in Germany came at the beginning of the 30s.
