Stefan Nedelchev Tsanev a Bulgarian playwright , poet and writer . He was born in the village of Red Water , region Ruse, Bulgaria on August 7,1936. In Ruse he graduated from the School of Mathematics in 1954. In 1959, he graduated from journalism at Sofia University. In 1960 - 1965, he studied drama at the Moscow Cinema Institute. He was a correspondent of the newspaper "People's Youth" (1959-1960). He has worked as an editor in the Boyana Films Studio (1965 - 1967); as a playwright at the State Theatre of Satire (1967 - 1970), in Theatre 199 and in District's Theatre (1970-1973); in the Theatre "Sofia" (1973 - 1984; 1991); in the Plovdiv Drama Theatre (1984-1991); in Bulgarian Army's Theatre (1992-1996); in Theater "Sofia" (1996-2008). He is an author of poetry, drama, journalism and prose as well as poetry and plays for children. Notable his poetry is: "Hours. Poems" (1960); "Compositions. Poems" (1963); "I ask. Poems" (1975); "Requiem. Poems" (1980); "Lyrical" (1983); "Poems" (1984); "Heavenly mishaps. Poems" (1986); "The season of illusions. Love poems" (1988); "Save our souls! Poems" (1992). His plays are "The process against the Bogomils" (1969), "The Last Night of Socrates" (1986); "The Last Supper of Deacon Levski" (1987). His poems have been translated into all European languages, Chinese, Mongolian, Arabic and Hebrew, and his plays ( "The Last Night of Socrates", "Another death of Zhanna d'Arc") are played in Paris , Grenoble , Bordeaux , Athens , Montreal , Pittsburgh. His wife is the great Bulgarian actress Dorotea Toncheva. They have four children and three grandchildren.
