In the 2012 film Flight, Denzel Washington portrayed an alcoholic airline pilot whose vices come to light gradually after his plane crash-lands following enduring mechanical failure. Washington is, of course, not a pilot, but there were aspects of his character, William "Whip" Whitaker Sr., that he could relate to, particularly indulging in drugs and alcohol. While the actor admits he has never been strung out, he does reveal that it did begin to do damage to his body, which is why he has been clean and sober for 10 years.
During a chat with Esquire, Washington got candid about his relationship with drugs and alcohol, particularly with wine. About wine, the actor said, "Wine is very tricky. It's very slow. It ain't like, boom, all of a sudden." Judging by his comments, it seemed like having the excuse to drink fine wine and be able to have the best began his reasoning...

Happy Traum, a stalwart of the Greenwich Village and Woodstock folk scenes and longtime friend and collaborator of Bob Dylan, died on Wednesday at age 86. The Hudson Valley magazine Chronogram first reported the musician’s death, and his close friend and fellow musician John Sebastian confirmed to Rs that the cause was cancer.
In addition to making records on his own and with his late brother Artie, Traum was also a key figure in the post-Fifties folk scene thanks to his role as an instructor. His 1966 book Fingerpicking Styles for...

Robin Thicke learned one of the drawbacks to dating a 19-year-old model ... you can't send her out for booze. The crooner and his smoking hot Gf, April Love Geary, hit up Gil Turner's on the Sunset Strip Tuesday night ... one of the most famous liquor stores in town. Review Michael Noble 12 Mar 2014 - 15:20
Uncertainty threatens everybody in this week's Bates Motel. Here's Michael's review...
This review contains spoilers.
2.2 Shadow Of A Doubt
The 1943 Alfred Hitchcock film from which this episode takes its title is, naturally given the director, a suspenseful thriller that inserts feelings of terror and uncertainty to a small American town. The film tells the story of Charlie Newton, a teenage girl who idolises her uncle, also called Charlie, but begins to suspect that he is actually the ‘Merry Widow Murderer’ and starts to follow up her suspicions. Psycho, the obvious source of inspiration for Bates Motel, may be Hitchcock’s most well-known film but Shadow of a Doubt was his favourite. Its neat story of developing a burgeoning fear of a loved one is a psychologically powerful one and forms an obvious parallel with Bates Motel’s ongoing story arc that explores Norma’s...

It was just yesterday that Halle Berry's ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry was arrested after getting into a fight with Berry's fiance, Olivier Martinez.
But at 7:30 a.m. the morning after the turbulent Turkey Day, Martinez, who suffered cuts on his hand, was seen picking up some presumably much-needed spirits at Gil Turner's liquor store in Los Angeles.
According to TMZ, Berry and Martinez had Thanksgiving dinner at a friend's house Thursday, but rushed home promptly after.
