Sipur Boards Hagai Levi Series ‘Etty’ & James Vanderbilt’s ‘Nuremberg’ As Israeli Studio Enters “Phase Two” Of Growth Plan
Image
Exclusive: Winning an Emmy for October 7 doc We Will Dance Again was a moment to take stock for Emilio Schenker, the co-founder of MGM-backed Israeli studio Sipur.

While he was delighted to be recognized with a gong that all TV producers dream about winning, the moment was bittersweet as it came just 48 hours after the death of Sipur President Michael Peter Schmidt.

Schmidt was a legend of the international TV game, a hugely popular, larger-than-life personality who Schenker said was nicknamed “the oracle.”

“Michael was in this industry for 35 years and he never won an Emmy,” Schenker told Deadline, sitting down with us in a coffee shop in Soho earlier this month. “And he won his first Emmy 48 hours after he died. So it was bittersweet. We dedicated the Emmy to him. He dedicated so much time and energy to this project.”

More tragedy arose around the time of...

Lionsgate will be releasing the film on September 12th. New Trailer for ‘The Long Walk’ Previews a Brutal Stephen King Adaptation Hitting Theaters This Fall
Image
Lionsgate has just released the official trailer for The Long Walk, a new dystopian horror film based on Stephen King’s 1979 novel, written under his pen name Richard Bachman. The film is directed by Francis Lawrence, known for The Hunger Games series, and it’s set to hit U.S. theaters on September 12, 2025.

The story takes place in a grim future where the U.S. is controlled by a brutal regime. Every year, a group of teenage boys is forced to take part in a walking contest. It sounds simple, but there’s a deadly twist: if they drop below three miles per hour for too long, they’re killed. The walk only ends when one boy is left standing.

The cast is packed with rising stars and familiar faces. Cooper Hoffman plays the lead role of Raymond Garraty. David Jonsson takes on the role of Peter McVries, and Mark Hamill...

New Trailer Drops for ‘The Long Walk’- Stephen King Adaptation Starring Cooper Hoffman and Mark Hamill
Image
The first trailer for The Long Walk has just been released during Sdcc, giving fans a chilling look at the upcoming Stephen King adaptation that’s set to hit theaters on September 12, 2025. Directed by Francis Lawrence, the film is based on King’s 1979 novel written under his pen name Richard Bachman.

It’s a tense, dystopian horror story set in a version of the U.S. where freedom is gone and survival is everything.

The movie follows a group of teenage boys who are forced to take part in a brutal walking contest. The rules are simple, but deadly, you must keep walking at a speed of at least three miles per hour, and if you slow down too much or stop, you’re executed on the spot.

Only one walker is allowed to survive, and the last one standing wins. It’s a test of endurance, fear, and pain,...

2 Marvel Favorites Star in David Fincher’s 90% Rotten Tomatoes True Crime Thriller Coming to Streaming Next Month
Image
Before Mindhunter captured the attention of Netflix fans everywhere, David Fincher put out a dramatized true crime film that would forever shape the genre. In 2007, the famed filmmaker paired with an all-star cast that included Jake Gyllenhaal (Spider-Man: Far From Home), Mark Ruffalo (Avengers: Endgame) and Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), to unpack one of the biggest mysteries in true crime that continues to perplex us to this day — the identity of the Zodiac killer. Aptly titled Zodiac, the film follows the story first penned by Robert Graysmithin his two nonfiction books, Zodiac and Zodiac Unmasked. A screenplay by James Vanderbilt (Scream VI) perfectly transforms the research done by the once political cartoonist (Graysmith) from page to big-screen production, as audiences tag along on the initial hunt for the famed killer. And soon, Paramount+ subscribers can do just that, as Zodiac is set for an arrival on the streamer next month.

Liam Hemsworth's $390 Million Sci-Fi Sequel That Ruined Its Franchise Is a Stealth Streaming Hit 9 Years Later
Image
The last few decades have been filled with a lot of original content that became extremely profitable, so studios decided to bank on that success with unwarranted sequels or reboots. One of those franchises includes Independence Day.

The 1996 sci-fi film marked one of Will Smith's breakout roles and won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects. The movie was extremely successful at the box office, becoming the highest-earning film that year, so two decades later, Independence Day: Resurgence followed, starring The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth in the leading role.Independence Day: Resurgence wasn't the same hit as the original was, but it's now becoming a success on streaming, FlixPatrol reports.

First Oscar Predictions of the Year - Complete!
Image
Whew. That took longer than expected but you can now see all of the "April Foolish" first-round predictions for this Oscar year, albeit compiled in May & June and delivered to you in early July. Since the first wave of 20 categories takes so long to compile (updates are easier) we should note up front that James Vanderbilt's Nuremberg, another film centered on the Nuremberg Trials, was scheduled for a November 2025 release after the weeks of research for these charts so it is not yet included.  That said we can hardly claim it a certainty as a competitor. World War II is no longer automatic "Bait" for voters, Vanderbilt is not (yet) an Oscar player and though the cast has four previously nominated actors none are the sort that Oscar voters Always watch regardless. Anyway, we'll save it for the next up date.

What follows are a dozen key questions were...

‘Zodiac’ 4K Uhd Review
Image
Stars: Jake Gyllenhaal, Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo, Anthony Edwards, Brian Cox, John Carroll Lynch | Written by James Vanderbilt, Robert Graysmith | Directed by David Fincher

David Fincher’s Zodiac has long been regarded as one of the most meticulously crafted and psychologically resonant thrillers of the 21st century. With its chilling true-crime narrative, obsessive attention to detail, and moody, restrained performances, the film has only grown in reputation since its 2007 debut. This new 4K Uhd release offers not just the best home viewing experience to date, but a stunning reminder of just how masterful Zodiac truly is.

The first thing to praise here is the video presentation. Remastered in native 4K from the original digital source, the transfer is nothing short of spectacular. Fincher’s clinical precision is on full display – every frame is awash in rich, filmic detail and an icy digital cleanliness that enhances the film’s underlying tension.

Russell Crowe to star opposite Henry Cavill in Chad Stahelski’s Highlander reboot
Christopher Lambert in Highlander (1986)
In Highlander, there can only be one. Still, adding actors to the cast of Henry Cavill’s upcoming reboot sounds like a good idea. According to Collider, Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe is officially joining the cast. The forthcoming reboot of Highlander features Cavill in the lead role, with John Wick mastermind Chad Stahelski directing, and cameras beginning to roll this Autumn.

Previously, Stahelski told Collider that his Highlander project is more than a reboot. It’s a chapter in the franchise meant to broaden the saga to untapped and unknown parts.

Stahelski has also teased the timeline for the movie. “We’re bringing it forward from the early 1500s in the highlands to the beyond present-day New York and Hong Kong, and seeing how it goes,” he said. “There’s big opportunity for action. There’s a chance to play a character that not a lot of people get to play.

Don’t call it a comeback, but could Russell Crowe be headed for another tilt at Oscars glory? No, really: don’t call it a comeback – it’s not like Crowe has disappeared or taken a hiatus from acting. The last five years or so have seen him pop up in some really fun genre material which has more than offset the occasional uninspired appearance in a superhero film.

With the upcoming Nuremberg however, could Crowe be headed back to the very peak of critical adoration? It’s been a quarter of a century since he won the Best Actor Oscar for 2000’s Gladiator, a win that came in the midst of a blistering run that saw him nominated three times in three years, The Insider...

Ethan Embry says it was “incredible” to be cast in Scream 7 after failed audition for the original movie
Ethan Embry
Actor Ethan Embry is currently doing the press rounds for his new horror movie Alma & the Wolf, which is set to receive a theatrical and digital release this Friday, June 20th – and our friends at Bloody Disgusting took the opportunity to ask him about another genre project he’s been working on, Scream 7. Embry couldn’t say much about the slasher sequel, but he did say that it was “incredible” to have the chance to be in the movie, especially since he auditioned for a role in the original Scream almost thirty years ago… and that audition didn’t go well.

Scream 7 started filming at the start of January, aiming for a February 27, 2026 release date, with Kevin Williamson, who wrote the screenplay for the original Scream, directing from a screenplay by 2022’s Scream and Scream VI writer Guy Busick, who crafted the story with his co-writer on the fifth and sixth films,...

Scream 7 (2026)
Neve Campbell suggested Kevin Williamson for the Scream 7 directing job
Scream 7 (2026)
Scream 7 started filming at the start of January, aiming for a February 27, 2026 release date, with Kevin Williamson, who wrote the screenplay for the original Scream, directing from a screenplay by 2022’s Scream and Scream VI writer Guy Busick, who crafted the story with his co-writer on the fifth and sixth films, James Vanderbilt. (Vanderbilt is also a producer on the most recent sequels.) You might think this would be a gig Williamson would have dove right into, but it turns out that star Neve Campbell had to do some convincing, and it was her idea to have him direct the movie in the first place!

Spyglass and Paramount once intended to make a Scream 7 that would have starred Scream (2022) and Scream VI leads Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, with Freaky and Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon at the helm. But then Ortega allegedly asked for a substantial...

Image
While he's very well known for playing a Marvel superhero in several major films, Chris Evans also has a DC role many fans have forgotten. After 15 years, many fans are revisiting that role by checking out The Losers, which is rising on the HBO Max streaming charts.

As of June 13, The Losers is No. 5 on HBO Max's Top 10 movies on streaming in the world (per FlixPatrol). Notably, however, the film is available in other territories, but not currently in the United States. It was released in 2010, though it was not a big box office success, making less than $30 million against a budget of $25 million.

Evans was a part of the movie's star-studded ensemble cast. The Losers also starred other MCU alums, including Zoe Saldana...
