Rada Volshaninova

Rada Volshaninova is a Soviet performer of gypsy songs and romances, actress, representative of the gypsy artistic dynasty of Zolotaryovs. Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. She began her singing career in 1957, accepting an invitation to participate in a tour of the Volshaninov Gypsy Ensemble. Noticing her resemblance to actress Lolita Torres, Rada did her hair like Torres's in the then popular film La edad del amor (1954), learned several Spanish songs and performed with them. In this image, she was initially loved by the audience. In the ensemble, Rada met Nikolai Volshaninov, who used the image of Raj Kapoor for his performances, and soon married him.
In 1961, she was invited to work at the Romen Theatre as the lead actress in the play Gypsy Aza. She then worked at the theatre for many years. As a singer, she toured extensively throughout the country and abroad. From 1982 to 1999 she was a soloist of Mosconcert.
