Warning! Spoilers ahead for Gotham City: Year One #2!Fans who want to criticize Batman for being elitist or out-of-touch may want to save those criticisms for his grandfather. Gotham City: Year One #2 gives readers a glimpse at what a truly uncaring and privileged Wayne actually looks like.
While Batman has been fighting for years to keep Gotham safe from criminals and all manner of supervillains, there are those who have been a bit critical of how he's done so. After all, Bruce Wayne funded his war on crime for years thanks to his immense wealth, something critics believe could have gone to better use. Batman has also been accused of being overly violent, especially in regard to those who are disenfranchised and mentally unwell. While there have been some attempts to change the way Batman operates (namely due to the loss of his fortune), criticisms about the Dark Knight persist.
