She was best friends with Sharon Tate, with whom she shared an apartment for a time in the mid 1960s. When Sheilah gave birth to her daughter, she gave the girl the middle name of "Tate".

Her daughter, named Amanda Tate Beir, was born on March 16, 1969.

As Sheila Wells, she was a United States Figure Skating Association pairs skater and competed at National Championship competitions.

Has resided in the Hancock Park section of Los Angeles for years. (2010)

Her mother was a John Robert Powers model before her marriage to John Wells. They met while he was a student at Columbia Law School.
