“Stranger Things” has (almost) come to an end.

Production has wrapped on the fifth and final season of Netflix’s hit series, the streamer announced Friday. A release date for the finale hasn’t been revealed yet, but Netflix has confirmed the show will be back in 2025.

“That’s a wrap on ‘Stranger Things,'” Netflix posted on X with some behind-the-scenes photos. “See you in 2025.”

Netflix is celebrating “Stranger Things Day” by releasing the eight episode titles from the upcoming fifth and final season. November 6th is designated “Stranger Things Day” because it’s the date Will Byers vanished in Hawkins and introduced the world to the Upside Down.

When the final season of Stranger Things arrives in 2025, fans are anticipating the fifth season of Netflix’s hit drama will bring about some of the show’s biggest deaths to date. And this makes perfect sense.

While there have certainly been some impactful deaths on Stranger Things, most of the deaths within the show have been contained to new characters introduced in the same season in which they meet their untimely demise. Barb, Alexei, Bob, and Eddie are all perfect examples of the show introducing characters only to kill them off within the same season they were introduced, with some appearing in just a few scenes before meeting their demise on the show.

That’s not to say these characters’ deaths weren’t impactful because they most certainly were, but the show has a tendency to play a bit safe when it comes to killing off main characters from the core cast.

Legendary author Judy Blume has written 29 books and swore the only one she would never consider selling for the screen was 1970’s Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, her timeless coming-of-age book that became a rite of passage for just about every girl, like Margaret, going from age 11 to 12, and probably their mothers as well. Blume held fast until 2018 when writer-director Kelly Fremon Craig and her mentor, Oscar-winning filmmaker James L. Brooks, came calling with just the right idea for an adaptation. It may have taken half a century to do it but, there can be no doubt that Craig has gotten it right. Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret is as perfect an adaptation of a life-changing book as there will ever be.

The Netflix series Stranger Things will soon be heading into production on its fifth and final season – so soon that David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper on the show, will be working on both Stranger Things and the Marvel movie Thunderbolts at the same time in Atlanta this year. And cast member Sadie Sink is not looking forward to the show ending, saying that the idea of Stranger Things coming to an end is “scary and sad”.

Speaking with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush on Today, Sink said (with thanks to Deadline), “We know that it’s happening and that it’s the last season, so it’s going to be emotional, I’m sure. Spoiler-free, just with the way my character ended in season 4, I have no idea what is going to happen. But I’ll be there. … (Stranger Things ending) is going to be awful. It’s going to be horrible.
