Per What's On Netflix, Home Improvement is set to drop on Netflix in the United States on Feb. 1, 2025. Reportedly, this comes through a deal that will keep the beloved 90s sitcom on the streaming platform for 18 months. All eight seasons, spanning 204 episodes overall, will be included with the show's Netflix arrival. This will also mark the first time Home Improvement has been made available to stream on Netflix, which could lead to bringing the classic comedy series some renewed popularity. The series was one of the most popular TV shows of its era when it aired between 1991 and 1998.

The site will offer full production services and facilities, including four sound stages ranging from 10,000 sq. ft to 27,000 sq. ft. Versa and Fae will add post-production and VFX services alongside “outreach and educational programs.”

Founded in 2019 by Matt Williams and Martin Owen, Fae has said it generated over $150 million of production spend since its inception, producing fourteen films, seven of which have been produced in Manchester and Leeds, with two of those made in conjunction with Versa Manchester studios.

The Leeds site, which opened in 2020, will now house additional post-production and VFX services, as well as outreach and educational programmes, through the partnership with Fae.

Fae will work with Versa on promotion of the studios; and will look to welcome other production companies and projects alongside Fae’s own productions.

Versa Studios Leeds has four already-operational sound stages ranging from 10,000 sq. ft to 27,000 sq ft.

Fae has produced 14 films since its foundation in 2019 by Matt Williams and Martin Owen.

Future Artists Entertainment (Fae) and U.K. studios network Versa Studios, which has hosted the likes of Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion, have partnered in a film production hub joint venture for Versa’s facility in Leeds in Northern England, which they say will provide “a world-class filmmaking home, offering full production services and facilities.” The site currently includes four soundstages, ranging from 10,000 to 27,000 square feet, and will over time also add post-production and VFX services, as well as “outreach and educational programs.”

Following his feature film directorial debut with the 2018 drama ‘Yardie,’ Idris Elba will co-direct with Martin Owen on the British indie survival thriller ‘Above The Beyond.’

The story follows a tight-knit trio of astronauts who survive a chaotic and destructive re-entry to Earth, only to find themselves off course and completely cut off from the world. As their capsule begins to sink into the unknown depths of the ocean, their battle for survival has only just begun.

The script has been developed by Future Artists Entertainment, from an original idea by Martin Owen, written by screenwriters Elizabeth Morris, Matt Mitchell and Vicki Sargent. Cast will be announced soon.

The film is produced by Future Artists Entertainment’s Matt Williams (Bank Of Dave, PokerFace) and Gina Carter (See How They Run, Yardie) Former Managing Director of Goldcrest Films Pascal Degove will Executive Produce.

The film will shoot at the UK’s Pinewood Studios under Pact/Equity contracts. Lionsgate will launch sales on the film at the upcoming American Film Market.

Above The Below is based on an original idea by Owen, with a script written by Elizabeth Morris, Matt Mitchell and Vicki Sargent, developed by Owen’s Future Artists Entertainment.

Keshet International (Ki) has racked up several deals for scripted formats and finished tape in the Central and Eastern Europe region.

Ki has sold the format rights for Duo Productions’ 8 x 60’ relationship thriller “Too Much Love” (“L’homme qui aimait trop”) to Slovakian free-to-air broadcaster TV Joj. Originally created by Canadian writing duo Michel d’Astous and Anne Boyer (“Taboo”) for Bell Media’s Quebecois streamer Noovo, the Slovakian adaptation will be produced by Piknik Pictures (“Traffic Light”). Currently in pre-production, with casting in progress, shooting will commence later this year ahead of a 2024 premiere on TV Joj.

Kelly Wright, Ki’s MD of distribution, described the show as “something of a conversation starter because of the anti-hero’s controversial lifestyle choices,” with Marcel Grega, CEO of TV Joj adding that the show “is the perfect example of a modern drama that opens subjects that are considered taboo.”

Over a year ago, a trailer was released for director Jon Wright’s creature feature Unwelcome – and at the time, we were told the film would be receiving a theatrical release in March of 2022. That didn’t happen, but now our friends at Bloody Disgusting have been able to confirm that Well Go USA Entertainment is planning to give Unwelcome a theatrical release on March 10th, with a PVOD release to follow on March 14th. Unwelcome is also set to reach theatres in the UK and Ireland on January 27th. We’ve been waiting for this movie for a while, and it looks like the wait is almost over.

Documentary

“Escape From Kabul Airport,” a documentary airing on BBC Two in September, will tell the inside story of the 18 days in August 2021, when the U.S. withdrew its troops from Afghanistan, and the subsequent evacuation of thousands of Afghan citizens from Kabul airport after the Taliban seized the city.

The documentary is an Amos production for the BBC, in association with HBO and in collaboration with Arte France. It is produced by Emmy and BAFTA-winning Dan Reed (“Leaving Neverland”) and directed by Jamie Roberts (“Four Hours At The Capitol”).

The film combines never before seen on-the-ground archival footage from the evacuation, alongside interviews with evacuees, eye-witnesses, U.S. Marines and Taliban fighters.

Roberts said: “When the images of the chaotic Kabul airlift flashed across the news I immediately wanted to know more about what this historic moment looked and felt like on the ground, through the eyes of the people who were there.

American acting icon Christopher Lloyd is set to join Simon Pegg and Minnie Driver in the cast of a dark comedy called “Nandor Fodor and The Talking Mongoose,” TheWrap can reveal exclusively.

“Breaking Point,” a feature about breakdancing from the directors of hit film “StreetDance 3D” will get its sales launch at EFM.

Directed by Dania Pasquini and Max Giwa, who helmed both “StreetDance 3D” and “StreetDance 2,” “Breaking Point” is described as “an adrenaline fuelled, high energy deep dive into the world of breakdancing.”

Independent distributor WellGo USA has secured North American distribution rights for action-packed sci-fi comedy “Max Cloud.” The company plans to give it a digital on-demand release in December. A theatrical release remains a possibility, but will be determined by the state of the coronavirus-strained exhibition sector.

Rights are handled by U.K.-based Fae Film & Television, which announced the sale at the virtual edition of Hong Kong’s FilMart. The company says that while many international rights have been sold to Spi International, a handful of territories remain available, including Japan, Australia, Germany, the U.K. and China.

Max Cloud, from the Let’s Be Evil and Killers Anonymous director, brings viewers back to an age of classic video games as a teenager named Sarah (Isabelle Allen) finds herself living in a virtual world populated by the her favorite game’s most infamous villains and bosses. The young gamer must team up with space hero Max Cloud (Scott Adkins) to defeat the ultimate video game boss Shee (Lashana Lynch) and escape the fantastical world.
