It's hard to imagine anyone other than Tobin Bell as John Kramer in the "Saw" series. While the films vary in quality and have greatly evolved since James Wan and Leigh Whannell completely changed the horror landscape when they released the original film back in 2004, Tobin Bell's Jigsaw has been the beating, bleeding heart of the franchise from the very start. Bell's professional acting career spans nearly five decades, but his turn as Kramer/Jigsaw is inarguably his most identifiable role.
According to a 2017 interview with Den of Geek, when Bell first met with Wan, he had read the script and provided a few notes on the character, but was cast almost immediately. Bell found the story compelling and Wan clearly made a good impression. Still, the real enticing factor for him was getting the opportunity to work alongside Danny Glover, who had already been cast as Detective David Tapp.

Wilson died in Los Angeles, a representative for the magician told TheWrap. No cause of death was given.
Wilson’s show “Magic Land of Allakazam,” on which he starred and produced, ran for four years on CBS and ABC on Saturday mornings starting in 1960. While EU ambassador Gordon Sondland was testifying during Wednesday’s impeachment hearings President Donald Trump attempted to defend himself to the media. The president held a pad of paper with words written in all-caps with a sharpie and read aloud in dramatic fashion:
“I Want Nothing. I Want Nothing. I Want No Quid Pro Quo.”
Donald Trump seized upon one particular bit of testimony from Gordon Sondland's hearing today. The EU envoy testified that the president told him "I want nothing" from Ukraine, and "I want no quid pro quo.

It should come as no surprise that when it came time for Barack Obama to announce his favorite books of the year, he did it in a way that made us swoon over his relationship with Michelle. On Friday, the former president took to social media to reflect on the great pieces of art that came out of the past year. Favorite songs? "Apesh*t" by The Carters, "My Own Thing" by Chance the Rapper, "One Trick Ponies" by Kurt Vile, and more. Favorite movies? Black Panther, Roma, Won't You Be My Neighbor, and more. His favorite book of the year was an obvious choice: Becoming by Michelle Obama. "(obviously my favorite!)" he wrote alongside his pick.

Christian Bale is starring in a critical darling this year, though you might not recognize him immediately. In Vice, the transformative actor turns into a familiar political figure: Dick Cheney, the domineering vice president who served alongside former President George W. Bush. Featuring a stacked cast that includes Amy Adams and Steve Carell, the dramedy biopic has already picked up several nominations at the Golden Globes.
Vice dives into the story behind Cheney, whom many a political analyst have dubbed the most powerful vice president in American history. So who was this shadowy figure? Here's what you need to know about Cheney's long political career - he's uncannily similar to Scandal's twisted Cyrus Beene.
Cheney failed out of Yale twice before eventually earning a bachelor's and master's in political science at the University of Wyoming. After deferring the draft a few times and flirting with getting his Ph.

Actress Deanna Lund died on June 22 at her home in Century City of pancreatic cancer. She was 81.
Lund played one of the seven castaways trying to survive in a world of large, unfriendly people on the 1960s ABC series Land of the Giants. Her Valerie Scott was a selfish party girl on the Irwin Allen-created series, which aired for two seasons, from September 1968 until March 1970.
Set in the year 1983, 20th Century Fox's Land of the Giants revolved around the crew and passengers of the spaceship Spindrift, which on the way to London crashed on a planet whose humanoid inhabitants were hostile and unbelievably huge. The show was extremely expensive to make, costing a reported $250,000 an episode.
The sexy Lund had appeared as a redheaded lesbian stripper opposite Frank Sinatra in Tony Rome (1967) and as Anna Gram, a moll working for The Riddler (John Astin), on ABC's Batman, leading...

Part One of this series is about the origin of the Robert Beck Memorial Cinema (Rbmc). Part Two covers all the screenings in 1998.
Continuing into 1999 at the Collective Unconscious theater space in NYC, the Rbmc — co-programmed by Brian L. Frye and Bradley Eros — went on hiatus for the first week of the year, but resumed on January 12. Below is a list of screenings from then until a May 18 event that celebrated the Rbmc’s first full year of existence.
The films and filmmakers selected to screen by Frye and Eros represent an interesting time in the sphere of avant-garde and experimental cinema. Up until this point, there seemed to be a distinct separation between the formal style of, say, structuralism, and the more raucous, punk rock world of the “underground.” However, in the 1990s, these two worlds appear to be colliding. The Rbmc seemed just as content screening Hollis Frampton‘s Critical Mass (Feb.

A few weeks ago we asked readers to name their favorite gay or bisexual male characters of all time. (As usual, we left the female characters to our sisters over at AfterEllen.)
Now, after sorting through the thirty thousand plus write-in votes, we have the results, and one thing leaps out at us: you guys certainly have a soft spot for the bad boys! When it comes to television, “gay” and “anti-hero” must to go well together because this list is filled with wily schemers, heartless cads, domestic abusers, street thugs, high school bullies and yes, even a couple stone cold killers. Oh well, at least the guy who ranks #1 is an honest to goodness sweetheart.
A few statistics before we get to the list. Almost every single character in the top 50 came from a show that ran in the current century. The only two exceptions? Roseanne‘s Leon Carp...

CBC, a Canadian TV network, surely didn't renew the TV series The Border for a fourth season last year. However, the TV series' first season will premiere in the USA on Ion Television, an American cable network.
The show will premiere on July 8 with two back-to-back episodes starting at 10 Pm.
In this TV series, we follow a squad of the fictitious Immigration Customs Security (Ics), a Canadian federal agency responsible of the security on the border between Canada and the USA. Major Mike Kessler (James McGowan) heads his team and does his best to maintain a clear-eyed decency while responding to the call of duty. He often clashes with agent Bianca Lagarda (Sofia Milos), an agent sent by the American government to work with the Ics.
The show also stars Graham Abbey, Nazneen Contractor, Jonas Chernick, Mark Wilson, Jim Cordington, Catherine Disher, Sarah Gadon and Nigel Bennett.

The Canadian distributor Vsc has sent a hi-res picture of the DVD artwork of The Border's third season. This Canadian espionnage series - which was aired on the public TV network CBC - will come out on DVD on August 10.
Despite the good reviews the shot has gotten, CBC didn't renew The Border for a fourth season.
The show tells the story of the fictional Immigration and Custom Security (Ics). The group is led by Maj. Mike Kessler, a former soldier of the Joint Task Force 2 (Canada's elite army). While Det. Sgt. Layla Hourani (Nazneen Contractor) died in the second season's finale, she'll be replaced by Khalida Massi (Athena Karkanis), a polyglot agent. Other than that, the Ics is under investigation by the Canadian Public Security ministry because of the screw-up that occured during a border operation at the end of season two.

After triumphing for two years in a row, Jake Gyllenhaal is not the winner of our third annual AfterElton.com Hot 100 poll (see the results for 2007 here and 2008 here). So which out man did take the top spot? If you’re the kind of person who always burns their mouth biting into that piping hot chocolate chip cookie, you can just cheat and go here to learn who came in first place.
Here at AfterElton.com, we’re thrilled to announce an out gay man topped this year’s list – especially this particular man as most of us voted for him as well. In fact, out gay men snagged nearly 20% of the spots, including the top three. To be sure, we’ve nothing against our straight male crushes, but it says something great about 2009 that there are so many out men to choose from.
