Vincenzo Natali's horror film In the Tall Grass has a harrowing yet ambiguous climax, so it helps to have In the Tall Grass explained in detail including how the ending differs from the source material. Written by Stephen King and his son, Joe Hill, In the Tall Grass was originally published in two parts in Esquire magazine. In the Tall Grass focuses on a brother and sister who are lured into a field of tall grass by a boy's cries for help. Once inside, they become separated and discover that the tall grass is twisting space and moving them around, making it impossible for them to either find each other or escape.

Cartoon Network shows in the 2000s pushed boundaries, dominating TV with great shows for a decade. Total Drama offers a satirical take on reality TV shows, full of mature themes and hilarious antics. Mucha Lucha and Chowder introduced unique animation styles and storytelling with plenty of humor.
Although Cartoon Network started becoming popular in the '90s, it was in the 2000s when their shows really took off. The network had some great cartoons that started in the 2000s, and many of these series carried over into the 2010s, proving that this was the best network on TV at the time for cartoons. Not only did the network have some great shows carrying into the decade, but it introduced some seriously memorable cartoons in the 2000s as well, giving Cartoon Network an entire decade of animated dominance.

Olivia Benson isn't having a good year. Mariska Hargitay's Law & Order: Svu character finally became captain, but from there it's been a rough go. She lost her brother, and in the Thursday, Jan. 30 episode she learned her ex-boyfriend Ed Tucker (Robert John Burke) was retiring…and dying. And then later, well, spoiler alert: He died. Following a party crasher's suicide note video leveled rape allegations and a police cover up, Benson and the squad went into investigation mode. Tucker said he didn't remember Rachel Wilson (Holly Robinson Peete), not because he was covering up for his partner, the offender, but because of the cancer. He fessed up to Benson about his health after the...

Rest in peace, Ed Tucker.
On Law & Order: Svu Season 21 Episode 12, he became the latest in a string of suicides related to the rape of a Vice officer.
It was hard to shed a tear for him even though his story was tragic. But it was good that Svu was shedding light on the problem of suicide among cops.
Law & Order: Svu is the second show during the 2019-2020 season to address the suicide epidemic in the NYPD.
Blue Bloods Season 10 Episode 12 revolved around this issue too. But in Law & Order: Svu's case, the suicides were tangled up with an unresolved rape case and a massive coverup.
Benson: She knew what she was doing. She shot herself in the heart.
Rollins: She threw a drink at Tucker. What was that about?
Benson: I don't know. I hadn't seen her in a while. She was bright and...

Legendary horror novelist Stephen King and his son, the acclaimed horror and comic book author Joe Hill, have collaborated twice on the page, each time coming up with something memorably creepy and squarely in what one could probably call the family tradition. The second of those two tales, “In the Tall Grass,” has now been made into a feature-length film for Netflix by director and writer Vincenzo Natali, the Canadian director who first got on the map in 1997 with the mind-twisting Cube.
Cube was about six random people trapped in a massive, labyrinthine structure for reasons unknown who must solve its deadly mysteries to escape. So on paper it kind of makes sense that he would adapt a story about another half dozen characters caught in another eerie maze-like scenario,...

The latest Stephen King adaptation is the horror thriller In the Tall Grass. Based on King and Joe Hill's 2012 novella, this film takes place in a rural field. Here, several people lose themselves in a supernatural trap. In the Tall Grass has been shot by director Vincenzo Natali. Shot in Toronto, Netflix has just released the first trailer for the film, which stars: Patrick and Rachel Wilson, Harrison Gilbertson and Laysla De Oliveira. The trailer is a good one and can be viewed below. Natali spoke about this project back in 2015, during the film's early production. The director said of the film and its thrills: "who would think that grass could be frightening. Trust Stephen King and Joe Hill to find a way. They have transformed an otherwise innocuous Kansas field into a stage for some of the most disturbing horror fiction (Uhm)." There are no exits, in the film's first trailer.

The year of Stephen King continues. After Pet Sematary and It Chapter Two and before Doctor Sleep, another one of his adaptations will be arriving–this time on Netflix. In the Tall Grass, based on the 2012 novella by King and his son Joe Hill, is written and directed by Vincenzo Natali. Ahead of a Fantastic Fest premiere, Netflix has now unveiled the first trailer and poster.
The story centers on a group who enter a large field to rescue a boy only to find more sinister forces at work. With touches of the disorientation found in Annihilation and no shortage of frightening imagery from the twisted mind of Natali, hopefully this is a horror stand-out this fall. Starring Harrison Gilbertson, Laysla De Oliveira, Avery Whitted, Will Buie Jr., Rachel Wilson, and Patrick Wilson, see the trailer and poster below.

Stephen King’s very good year is still in full swing. The master of horror’s oeuvre has been mined for countless screen adaptations over the years, to varying degrees of success. But these days, with horror more popular than ever, anything with King’s name on it is the closest thing to a surefire success Hollywood has. This month saw the release of “It: Chapter Two,” the sequel to last year’s surprise blockbuster “It.” November brings rising horror star Mike Flanagan’s “Doctor Sleep,” a sequel to “The Shining” which pulls from the eponymous 2013 King novel and sets Ewan McGregor as a grown-up Danny Torrance.

It’s just a field, right? That’s the entire premise to “In the Tall Grass,” a horror movie based on a Stephen King novella in which a group of people get lost in a massive, dense, grassy prairie and find themselves unable to escape.
King wrote the novella originally published in two parts in Esquire magazine in 2012 along with his son, Joe Hill. It’s the story of two inseparable siblings who hear the cries of a young boy lost within a tall field of grass. But when they venture in to rescue him, they find themselves ensnared by a sinister force that quickly disorients and separates them.
In the trailer for “In the Tall Grass,” we see the grass slicing into their ankles and the mud trapping them where they stand. And that little boy isn’t all he seems either.

An all-Stephen King edition of the Hero Nation this week…
It’s good to be the King. The human content machine that is Stephen King continues to churn out stories and characters that scare up huge success as screen entertainment. In fact, King is casting a bigger shadow than ever (check out the long list of upcoming project below) but that’s no surprise to Frank Darabont, the three-time Oscar nominee who remains one of King’s most ardent fans in Hollywood.
“The real underlying thing is a secret superpower, but now not-so-secret, is he always really makes you care about the characters,” Darabont said. “You really become invested and that’s a tremendous skill for a writer to have and I don’t think anybody does it quite as well as Stephen does.”
Darabont’s masterpiece, The Shawshank Redemption, returns to 700 theaters at the end of the month to mark the film’s 20th anniversary. Based on King’s novel about wrongly convicted inmate’s transformation behind bars, the movie represents only part of Darabont’s interaction’s with King material. There was also The Green Mile and The Mist.
How did Darabont become one of King’s men in Hollywood? Here’s how he recounts the story:
“I was aware of Stephen King because of the movie Carrie, which I loved, but hadn’t really gotten into his actual books yet, not until The Shining. Which is kind of a funny story because you know, I was in high school then when The Shining came out and it was sent to me by mistake from the book club because I neglected because I was a flaky teenager, I neglected to send the card back. I don’t know if you remember the book club, how that used to work, they would have their main selection and they would send you a notice about what the next book is, right, and if you didn’t want it delivered you had to mail the card back, you know, to prevent them from shipping it and I forgot to do that, and usually I did have to send the card back because even though I loved to read, I still do, I seldom had the money to actually buy a book.”
Darabont continued: “So, one day the book arrives in the mail, I pull it out, and it’s The Shining by some guy named Stephen King — Stefan, as I thought it was pronounced at first, and I thought, ‘Aww, dog-gone it, I forgot to send the card back, I’m going to have to, you know, put it back in the box and send it back to them with a note saying I’m sorry, but I can’t afford to buy this book right now.’ I flipped the book open as I was about to put it back in the box, but my eyes landed on the paragraph where the dead woman sits up in the bathtub, and scares the hell out of Danny Torrance, and I froze and I thought, ‘Ooh, that’s really right up my alley, I’ve got to read this book.’ So, I sat down and read it, and of course I found the money to actually pay for it, and I think I got it from my mom, I probably wrangled it out of her because I read that book in a white heat, and it’s one of the rare times I got to the end of the book and I flipped back to the first page and read it a second time. That’s how much that book had an impact on me. The writing was just of a caliber that blew my mind. It’s still one of the greatest novels in the genre, I think, written in the 20th Century.”
And no, the postmark on the book club parcel wasn’t from the Overlook Hotel in Colorado. King has written more than 60 bestsellers at this point but its some of his earliest works that are connecting with viewers in new adaptations right now Here’s a look at some of the many King projects on the way now.
It (New Line Cinema/Warner Bros) New Line and director Andy Muschietti brought back Pennywise the Dancing Clown after the first film finished its theatrical run in 2017 as the highest-grossing horror release in history. The sequel was No. 1 for the second weekend in a row and has gone north of $322 million in global box office already.
Doctor Sleep (Warner Bros) Director Mike Flanagan’s sequel to The Shining (1980) opens Nov. 8 and stars Ewan McGregor as Danny Torrance, the grown-up survivor of the Overlook Hotel massacre. The movie is an adaptation of the namesake novel by King which was released in 2013.
In the Tall Grass (Netflix) premieres on the streaming service on Oct. 4. Directed by Vincenzo Natali (Splice), the film adapts the horror novella written by King and his son, Joe Hill, and stars youngsters Laysla De Oliveira and Avery Whitted and also features Patrick Wilson, Rachel Wilson, and Harrison Gilbertson. In the Tall Grass was first published in 2012 in Esquire magazine.
The Stand (CBS All Access) True Blood and Big Little Lies star Alexander Skarsgard was just cast as Randall Flagg. The ensemble also features James Marsden, Whoopi Goldberg, Amber Heard, Greg Kinnear, and Marilyn Manson. Created by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars), the 10-episode premiere season will be next year on the CBS subscription streaming site.
Castle Rock (Hulu) is returning for Season 2 on Oct. 23 and a new trailer was just released. In it, Lizzy Caplan portrays budding psychopath Annie Wilkes, the nurse from Misery, who has a prescription for trouble as she arrives in the small town of Castle Rock, which is where characters from different King novels meet in a shared universe. The series also stars Tim Robbins, Paul Sparks, Yusra Warsama, Barkhad Abdi, Elsie Fisher, and Matthew Alan.
Mr Mercedes (AT&T Audience Network) Season 3 is now underway for the Tuesday night series from executive producer David E. Kelley. Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges) stars as a grizzled detective taunted out of retirement by a serial killer.

It’s a good time to be a Stephen King fan, as the master of horror’s many works have gotten new blood thanks to a slew of successful adaptations, from the box office record-breaker “It” (soon to be extended with a sequel!) to a number of streaming outlets getting their King fix to long-rumored adaptations finally coming to fruition. While much-hyped feature films like “It: Chapter Two” and “Doctor Sleep” gear up for 2019 releases and a pair of quite different series based on King’s works are preparing for new seasons, it seems like a new King adaptation is announced every week.
Case in point: in just the past two weeks, two King-inspired offerings have gotten the green light, with indie filmmaker darling Alex Ross Perry taking on a big screen version of short story “Rest Stop” just days after Julianne Moore announced she’d be starring in an...

There’s no wrong way to grieve. How one deals with the loss of a loved one is a deeply unique situation. Whatever path someone takes, that’s what is right for them. Unfortunately, the same can not be said about films dealing with grief. When done right, they’re devastatingly powerful. When done wrong, you just can’t feel for the protagonist’s plight and have no connection. In the case of State Like Sleep, the movie wavers back and forth between both sides of the coin. In the end, poor pacing and too slow a buildup ultimately sabotage a potentially affecting piece of work. The movie is a drama laden with mystery/noir elements. Set a year after the death of her actor husband Stefan Delvoe (Michiel Huisman), Katherine (Katherine Waterston) is still trying to make sense of it all. When she gets a phone call that sends...

By and large, McU fans don’t need any further convincing to check out Captain Marvel when it arrives in just ten weeks, but this new behind-the-scenes video that’s playing in Cinemark theaters certainly won’t hurt matters, offering further glimpses of the interplanetary adventure to come between statements from lead actress Brie Larson and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige.
Carol Danvers’ big screen debut is noteworthy among other reasons for being the first McU movie to have a woman as its sole title character, and according to the Larson, the film offers a heroine for viewers to look up to:
“The idea that we can have a symbol that represents strength and humility and compassion – that feels really valuable.”

Meredith Danluck is best known for her work directing documentaries but for her feature film debut, the thriller State Like Sleep, she's coming out swinging.
A year after her husband's suicide, Katherine (Katherine Waterston) is plagued by the unanswered questions surrounding his death. She can't recall what happened on the night of his death and when she begins to dig, it quickly becomes apparent that he was leading a double life and she seems to have wiped much of that from her memory.
In addition to Waterston, the movie also stars Michiel Huisman, Rachel Wilson, Luke Evans and Michael Shannon.

"Funny - peel back a layer, and no one's where the seem to be..." The Orchard has debuted an official trailer for an indie psychological thriller film titled State Like Sleep, which first premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year. The dark, moody, mysterious drama is about a woman named Katherine, played by the very talented Katherine Waterston, who is still struggling to grapple with her husband's surprising death a year before. After a phone call, she goes out to try and figure out what really happened to him. The full cast includes Michael Shannon, Luke Evans, Mary Kay Place, Mark O'Brien, Rachel Wilson, and Bo Martyn. There's a lot of weird, fascinating, peculiar footage in this trailer - hard to make sense of it, but it's certainly appealing. I'm surprised we haven't heard much about this film before today. Have a look. Here's the first official trailer...

"It sickens me to have to stand there and listen to your lies." A24 has debuted the first official trailer for a true story political drama titled Backstabbing for Beginners, from Danish director Per Fly. The film is about a young, idealistic program coordinator at the United Nations, as played by Theo James (from the Divergent series), who stumbles upon a conspiracy involving Iraq's oil reserves. Ben Kingsley stars as his boss, and the cast includes Jacqueline Bisset, Christina Dupre, Rossif Sutherland, Belçim Bilgin, Rachel Wilson, and Brian Markinson. This looks like a very compelling political thriller about a kid just trying to do what's right. And, as A24 says in their email, it's a very "timely" film for us to watch these days. Here's the first official trailer for Per Fly's Backstabbing for Beginners, direct from YouTube: Based on a true story, an idealistic young employee (Theo James...

Based on Paula Hawkins’ best-selling novel of the same name, the film has Tate Taylor behind the camera and Emily Blunt leading the charge in front as Rachel Wilson.

As for Prepon, she’ll step into the shoes of Cathy, the landlord and college friend of Rachel. Rounding out the supporting cast are Haley Bennett, Rebecca Ferguson, Edgar Ramirez and Justin Theroux. Not a bad collection of talent,...

Read More: Watch: Demon Kids Come Out to Play in Sinister 'Hellions' Trailer After its Canadian premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, the horror film "Hellions," from writer Pascal Trottier ("The Colony") and director Bruce McDonald ("Pontypool"), is sure to inspire much excitement and terror just in time for Halloween this year. The film stars Chloe Rose, Rossif Sutherland, Rachel Wilson, Peter DaCunha, Luke Bilyk and Robert Patrick. The official film synopsis reads: "A teenager’s Halloween night turns into a terrifying fight to survive when trick-or-treaters from Hell show up at her doorstep. After getting the unwelcome news that she’s pregnant, 17-year-old Dora (Chloe Rose) just wants to stay in on Halloween. But then a knock at the door delivers a gaggle of pint-sized demons after one thing: Dora’s baby. Director Bruce McDonald unleashes a hallucinatory visual and auditory assault that propels 'Hellions' to.

Director: Bruce McDonald. Writer: Pascal Trottier. Cast: Chloe Rose, Robert Patrick, Rossif Sutherland and Rachel Wilson. Hellions was developed by two brilliant minds. Bruce McDonald was the director of the very tense zombie film Pontypool (2009), starring Stephen McHattie. Pascal Trottier wrote one of this film fans favourite scripts - from 2013, with The Colony. However, the imagination and creativity is mostly missing in this Halloween set thriller. Barely a horror film, Hellions lacks any complex scenes and action elements are almost completely forgotten. Much of the film simply follows Dora (Chloe Rose) through one setting, until the eyelids grow heavy and the stop button beckons. Hellions belongs at the bottom of the DVD store shelf. The story is not inventive. Dora is a young woman struggling with teen pregnancy. She looks forlorn in many of her early scenes. But, events pick-up when the trick-or-treaters come out, on Halloween. They come knocking on Dora's home,...

Bruce McDonald is a name with whom few readers will likely associate with anything, but for those few of us who do, we know this Canadian-born filmmaker has some under-appreciated talent. Perhaps his best-known film, McDonald wowed genre film fans in 2008 with his groundbreaking Pontypool. Since then, rumors and theories about a follow-up sequel have endured endless revivals in smaller circles of horror fandom. So, despite having a few lesser-known non-horror films to his name since 2008, I and others were excited to see McDonald return to horror just in time for Halloween.
Hellions is McDonald’s latest film, written by Pascal Trottier, best known for screenwriting The Colony (2013), combines McDonald’s unconventional storytelling sense and Trottier’s knack for cerebral flair. The film stars Chloe Rose as Dora Vogel, an apathetic teenager who unexpectedly discovers she’s pregnant and must survive Halloween night when her home is invaded my trick...

Hellions Movie Trailer. Bruce McDonald‘s Hellions (2015) movie trailer stars Robert Patrick, Chloe Rose, Rossif Sutherland, and Rachel Wilson. Hellions‘ plot synopsis: “A teenager must survive a Halloween night from Hell when malevolent trick-or-treaters come knocking at her door.” I’m slightly ashamed of not having seen Bruce McDonald’s beloved indie-horror darling Pontypool (2008) yet. I would’ve had more of an inkling of what […]...

Now a telekinetic kid and and an apocalypse have joined the killer lineup, as both June and JeruZalem will make their U.S. premieres at the festival.
Press Release: "Chicago, Illinois (August 6, 2015) – The second annual Bruce Campbell Horror Film Festival presented by Wizard World, running August 20 – 23 at the Muvico Theater in Rosemont, Illinois (9701 Bryn Mawr Ave., Rosemont), is proud to announce the addition of two more films to the already bursting schedule.
June, starring Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers) and Kennedy Brice (The Walking Dead), tells the story of nine-year-old June (Brice), who has been shuffled in and out of foster homes for years. Though she tries to be good, no matter where she goes a trail of chaos and terror seems to follow.

The film stars Robert Patrick, Rossif Sutherland and Rachel Wilson, with Chloe Rose playing the protagonist - Dora. The chilling trailer for Hellions is previewed here.
