- Was last known to be running a comedy nightclub in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida area.
- Succeeded Johnny Carson as the host of "Who Do You Trust?" when Carson left to host "The Tonight Show" in the fall of 1962.
- Briefly hosted "The Woody Woodbury Show", a talk show, in the late 1960s.
- His first child, a daughter, died in infancy in 1955.
- Recorded several successful comedy LPs in the 1960s, including "blue" material, and later had the king of the art form, Redd Foxx, as a guest on his TV talk show.
- Woodbury served in the United States Marine Corp in both WW2 and Korea as a pilot, obtaining the rank of Captain.
- Maternal grandfather of Tom Schwartz, star of Vanderpump Rules (2013).
